Wood is as good as big men get on offense. He's just never going to be the defender that people want.

See what the Mavs did there?

In fact, the entire roster is basically 50/50 just like that. We don't really have many two-way players.

Really good two-way players are usually All-Stars. Its hard to get those unless you draft them

This has been the Mavs since the championship team fall out. The roster doesn't have 2 way players.

I'm fine with the front court additions. I'm uncomfortable with the lack of a proven guard. However, Green and Hardy looked good so that's a wait and see.

We changed our approach this year compared to last year.

Remember we had 4 giants (7ft+) plus Powell and Maxi on this roster going into last season and now we only have one 7 footer.
Kidd is going more with a smaller and more agile lineup so this could become problematic for opposing defenses. It could be really fun to watch our offense this season.

This makes it sound like we're smaller

We ended the year with:
Powell 6'10" (backup-caliber)
Kleber 6'10" (backup-caliber)
Bertans 6'10" (third string)
Boban 7'4" (unplayable)

That's it.

This year we have:
McGee 7'0" (starting-caliber)
Wood 6'10" (starting-caliber)
Powell 6'10" (backup-caliber)
Kleber 6'10" (backup-caliber)
Bertans 6'10" (third string)

We went from a 7 footer that we couldn't play to a solid starting 7footer while adding another starting-caliber 4/5.

My point is starting this season compared to starting last season. We obviously didnt have the same team at start of season last year compared to end.

Warriors have released Mac McClung and Trevion Williams. Rockets released Ty Jerome but it looks like he might sign some sort of contract with the Warriors. Not sure if any of that young talent is of interest to the Mavs, but they do have an open roster spot.

We had Willie Cauley-Stein, Moses Brown and Porzingis. Call me crazy but I think McGee and Wood are better despite a lack of "size"
