This is a tough one...I don't know if I have that much confidence in them to get it done by 20.

Hmmmm.....

So....is Kidd just not going to play at all against good teams?

So depressing.

Holy cow he must have picked those up REALLY fast if they happened in the first half.

8:38 2-4 Foul on Jason Kidd
8:33 2-4 Foul on Jason Kidd
8:33 2-4 Foul on Jason Kidd

I wish I'd seen that sequence. Weird.

I wish I'd seen that sequence. Weird.
On the first one he got out of position and bumped a three point shooter as he was closing out. The second was kind of a dumb foul as kid was reaching from behind and hit his man in the head. Kind of ticky tacky but that's how the refs called it early. The third was just a horrible call.

Yes.

As much as I hate all these players individually because of the NBA, I want the United States to crush all other countries in all things. That was embarrassing, what happened in Athens.

No longer.

Nope, you are NOT the only one.

I have rooted against Team USA in all three games. It's sad really, I'm as patriotic as they come, but I just can't root for this team...I've honestly tried, but I find that my bitterness towards the NBA is coming out strong with this team.

I may have to walk away and take a year or three off from watching the NBA!!!

I have come to despise seeing Kobe and D-Wade on the court, I see their face and I just want to puke!!! The Hype machine has really pushed my buttons and it has translated to me rooting against these guys.

So no, you are NOT alone!!!

I'd happily root for America if the team wasn't full of the biggest egos on the planet...

On that note - GO GERMANY! (because it's a LOT easier to root for Dirk than Kobe...)

EDIT: it might be a different story if Uncle Sam suited up instead of Kobe (he's named after JAPANESE beef after all - his parents should've named him Anges!)

Those guys don't represent my country. Many of them don't represent anything except for themselves. So many of them are garbage that I wouldn't even piss on if they were on fire.

I also wish for failure on the Williams sisters.

Am I unpatriotic? Nope, not at all. However, I don't cheer for someone 100% just because of the flag that they 'represent'. There is a breaking point for me when it comes to athletes to where I can no longer associate with them at any cost.

But go America. I enjoyed the hell out of watching Blake today.

If the US played Germany, I would 100% be cheering for Germany. Hell, I was 100% cheering for everyone that the US has played so far.

How can you root for another country?

And these guys are keeping their egos in check pretty well these two weeks. They're saying all the right things, they're sharing the ball.

They're putting all that other stuff behind them for their country. I'm glad they're playing instead of some of you, who can't seem to put country first in front of even the most trivial of things. You're laughing that I'm taking this seriously, but it's a pretty serious deal to me for some reason.

It's OK. International competition will always mean more to other countries than it will to Americans. I guess it's a testament to how great our leagues are in this country. When the Mexican national team plays a soccer match, the whole freaking country stops down for it....sometimes I wish we were a little more like that...in that one small way.

It's simple. The players on the team are not deserving of representing the US that I believe in. I'm more patriotic than just about anyone I know. That doesn't mean that I cheer for any idiot that happens to be a US citizen.

I didn't cheer for the idiot that shot that Beatle however many years ago. Whatever that Beatles name was, I'm sure he wasn't an American. Wasn't the guy that shot him an American?

What's the point?.. Just because you're from America doesn't mean that you're worth cheering for. Being from America, I'm 99% of the way on your side. Just don't be a total worthless piece of crap. Well, many of the players on the team couldn't even do that.

You know Murph, Stack isn't on the Olympic team.

Seriously...besides Kobe and maybe Melo, which of these guys are such POS human beings?

I know. As an American, would you ever come out and publicly say that you'd consider playing professionaly in another country? How BS is that especially considering that the NBA is far and away the best league in the world?

So if someone offered you $50 million to do something in another country you'd turn them down, huh?

It's not like he's saying he'd play for another countries national team (like that POS Kaman)

If I was already making $40 million and I LOVED MY COUNTRY, then yes...

Taking a job in another country makes you unpatriotic? That doesn't make a bit of sense.

Is Dirk a POS for playing in the U.S.?

No - it makes you a money-grubbing c*cksucker who has no shame ditching his team/league/city/country to chase that almighty dollar, regardless of the fact that these guys have already made more money than they could ever spend in several lifetimes (not the America that represents me, though it IS the America we have...)

One can only hope that they'd actually come back to this country to spend that money, otherwise we (America) just sent a multi-million dollar commodity overseas and got NOTHING in return...

Just about everyone chases the almighty dollar. The decision of how much money is enough is a subjective decision.

Some people make enough money to live comfortably and would not move overseas for a 300% increase in salary. Others would. Neither is in the wrong.

As a basketball fan, I have reservations about our best players ditching the NBA for more money in another league - I can't defend Kobe & LeBron's interests in playing for Europe out of one side of my mouth while chanting "USA! USA!" out of the other...

Kobe represents everything I hate about humanity while Dirk represents everything I love - I know who I'm rooting for...

(because sports can be bigger than just championships and salaries, if you let it...)

What if you were making $20MM? It seems a little self righteous to look down on some one for doubling their salary because, in your opinion, they already have "enough".

There's another phrase for it.

(Is it time to move this thread to the political forum yet?)
