The Clippers clearly believe they can make it onto LeBron James' free-agent short list come July and, according to league sources, will indeed move DeAndre Jordan and Lou Williams before the Feb. 8 trade deadline if they can find workable deals to help them in that quest

@espn_macmahon: One scout's take on Blake Griffin going to Detroit: "It'll be the best thing for his career." Compared it to Chris Webber going to Sacramento, where he had his best seasons. "He'll have no choice but to focus on basketball."

Hawks take out T-Wolves and we should lose to the Heat -- all in all a good day.

Given the Jerry West ties, Kevin Durant might be the prize.

: John Wall will undergo a knee procedure tomorrow (described as a clean up). He will miss six weeks & will not play in upcoming All-Star weekend, The Washington Post has learned.

Didnt deserve to be an all-star anyway. Maybe they want Devin? Though we'd probably just hang on to him rather than take a crappy 2nd

@wojespn: New Orleans and Chicago had a deal for Nikola Mirotic, but it's fallen apart for now, league sources tell ESPN.

@BIuesTraveIer: woj made them cancel this deal because he didn't report it first

What I heard on that Front Office roundtable podcast on Adrian Wojnarowski's podcast is that teams bounce hundreds of trade ideas between each other, but only a handful actually get done. They said the ones that get done almost always take weeks, sometimes months or even a full year to get worked out.

I think things like "Wall just got hurt. Now the Wizards are gonna need to trade with us..." those kinda thoughts are for the fans, for fun. The real trade process in the NBA moves much slower than that.

If the Mavs are going to work out a trade before the deadline, it's almost certain it's a deal they've been working on already for weeks.

On the brightside, the Wizards play @ ORL next Saturday, and @ CHI the following Saturday before the All Star break. Gives those 2 teams a better chance of winning, which is nice for 2 teams in our way to the #1 pick overall LOL

One trade side, sometimes "leaks" their trade block to gauge player value. All part of the long arduous process.

Wall's been having knee issues, dating back to last season, so they've known that surgery was getting close. Tim Frazier will be adequate. Beal can also step in as well.

Magic leading Rockets at the half. Man, it won’t last but wouldn’t it be nice

Nets May also be the worst team in the league and no picks for them

Harden’s 60 point triple double has to be mentioned. Easily one of the most impressive stat lines in NBA history. He should win MVP. (Sorry Bryan)

Anything he does should come with an asterisk attached. Even on the 4 point play at the end he had to create contact with the defender. He's a cheating clown who makes his living exploiting easily corruptible officials who are no doubt instructed to whistle certain star players differently. When the playoffs roll around and more eyes are on the games and every team left has stars that also need special treatment, Harden shrinks without his bailout calls. Cant wait to see it happen again this offseason.

I'm sorry, but that makes my blood absolutely boil. Smith drives under the basket and gets hammered. Defender doesn't even touch the ball and makes contact with his head and shoulders. Nothing. Just an out of bounds call-- usually to the other team.

Harden straight up jumps into his opponent and gets THREE FTs? F him and F the league for enabling it. That first video in the link has TWO fouls-- one for an offensive foul on the screener for moving and the second on Harden for jumping into the defender's space. The entire game is based around the idea that defenders have few rights, but the one right they have is to the property under their feet. That is a complete violation of that and a rule that only applies to one player is a BS rule.

Lol poor Blake Griffin boo-hooing finding out about his trade through Twitter. He expected class from that mess of an organization after being a big part of its tasteless, entitled arrogant culture for almost a decade.

No way he joins GS. That would a absolutely ruin his legacy, but then again I said the same thing about KD. I would stop watching the NBA if he signed there. I already find myself less interested because it's pretty much a given GS wins it all again, but this would push me over the edge.

I'd quit watching as well, but the good news is that this would be a pretty tough move to pull off... First of all, KD needs to opt out -- which everybody assumes he'll do, but is he going to take a Dirk-like, team-friendly deal in his prime to accommodate the highest-paid player in the league? Also, they'd have to sign-and-trade Klay/Iggy for LeBron and re-home Livingston... Does Cleveland go for that? Gilbert seems like the type who would cockblock that deal and let LeBron walk for nothing rather than hand over several more championships to GSW.

We're in the midst of clickbait season, I wouldn't put too much stock into this article... (although I didn't put too much stock into the idea of KD going to GS either, so what do I know?)

Or...

@NickVanExit: Lebron: I’d listen if the Warriors created a Max Salary slot

Warriors: *Create Max Slot by cutting Draymond, Iguodala, etc.

Lebron: LOL PSYCH!

You laugh, but when the NBA changes the rules to allow three basketballs at the same time, that will be a scary superteam.

I can see Lebron teaming up with CP3. I'm sure Carmela and D Wade grab his coat tails. Not sure Houston could afford to be paying LBJ and CP3 max deals though. Can't imagine them taking less as presidents of the players association. Clippers prob could have fit them both, but CP3 burned that bridge.

@TheSteinLine: Veteran scorer Joe Johnson is angling behind the scenes for a trade out of Utah, according to league sources. Will be interesting to see if he becomes a buyout candidate for contenders should no deal materialize before the Feb. 8 trade buzzer

If we don’t draft a center we absolutely should throw a max offer at Clint Capela to force the Rockets hand as they seek a way to put together the room for Lebron.

DSJ - Wes - Barnes - Bagley - Capela

I'm on board with that idea. I like Capela's development and think he can be a key piece.

I've admittedly not paid as much attention to the NBA this year, but I totally forgot JJ was still playing.

29 GP, 22 MPG -- looks like Utah forgot he was still playing as well.

Looks like Mirotic deal to Pelicans was finalized today.

Mirotic for Asik, Allen, and Nelson, along with the Pels 1st rounder.

One game in January against the worst team in the NBA without Aaron Gordon doesnt mean MVP now. Its a hell of a stat line, ridiculously impressive, but Im not going to crown MVP in January.
