McLemore is 4-22. Doesn't mean a thing of course, but still funny.

I'm not too disappointed by Crowder. Looks like he is trying to do too much, a lot of fouls and hasn't found the range yet. That three pointer will be crucial for his development.

Could be one of those things where its just hard to get up for a summer league game for him.

I thought he did Crowder things. He looks like a man amongst boys on defense; Got his hands on a lot of loose balls, seemed to grab a lot of boards, and played in your face man defense. But I agree, it will be critical for him to hit the three.

He crowned it with the attempt for the tie, barely got iron. Good game Sacramento, Mekel was just too clutch. On a serious sidenote, liked what i saw from him. Also like Akognon, too bad he's PG-sized, he has a nice shooting stroke.

BG, don't agree with you at all regarding Akognon. Mekelangelo was the player of the game for the Mavs.

Gal is going to be a nice player as long as he keeps trending in the right direction. He's got some Nash in him in the sense of probing the defense and finding the cracks. He had some tremendous dimes in traffic and off the dribble. His clear weakness is the three-point shot. Kevin Pelton pointed it out and it's true, it looks like he has to harness his whole body when he's lining up the shot. He knows that it's a weakness and he's working on it.

Akognon is going to be streaky, but it impressed me that he was scrapping on defense and still had the energy to keep going on offense. Gal and Josh are going to be a backcourt that can REALLY work well together.

Tomorrow will likely be telling in regards to whether today was just a bad day for Sarge in terms of offense or he's still way behind the curve. He just had a real rough time finishing at the rim.

Crowder simply needs to keep working on his consistency. To his credit, he didn't let his rough patch at the end get in his head as he hit that tough jumper with under 40 seconds to go.

If he were stock, I'm buying Ledo. He's going to be a nice player. Carlisle and Mathis said a lot of nice things about his game and approach to the game. As long as he keeps working, he'll be a factor.

Not a shock, but this group is incredibly touch and go in terms of defense.

^^That's a great nickname. Just a little too long. Perhaps if we call him Mekel, for short?

He really looks good to me, though. He's in a different class when it comes to vision and point-guard instincts. I kept thinking how much I'd like to see Brandan out there running those pick and rolls with him.

Nope... I may not get others calling him that but he's Mekelangelo for me until he leaves the Mavs.

I'd really love for Crowder to do 3 things:
1) Hit the 3, especially the wing or corner 3
2) Pump the 3 and hit the 1 or 2 foot pull up inside the 3 point line
3) Be able to probe dribble drive if necessary

The first two are needed for Dirk and the Mavs spacing. The third is needed just to keep some honest.

I didn't see the game. But the official stats don't look too bad for James. 0 for 4 is a bit embarrassing offensively but 9 boards and 3 blocks is nothing to be ashamed of. If he can avg 7+ board and ~2 blocks in the NBA he'll have a nice long career no matter how little he scores.

His problem was that he said he put on weight and wanted to create or establish a base in the post and he couldn't finish in the post. He had point blank looks and couldn't get them in because he'd get pushed back a bit at the last second.

He also fumbled a great pass by Mekel on a pick and roll. Mekel set him up beautifully with a behind the back or split the defender bounce pass... can't remember exactly which. But James wasn't expecting a guard (and especially one he played with last year) to be able to give him a pass that great. Right on the money in stride. Had James caught it he had another layup.

I'm guessing it is because of lack of athleticism but I'd rather him try and flush those with authority than "always use the glass...."

Btw, Gordon was nice today. Mavs had him last year in Summer League. If he continues to play well, I wouldn't mind him being signed as a "potential" big as the 15th man....

I'd buy that, if he hadn't had commented that he had gotten some crazy passes delivered to him from Gal in the practices before Vegas. He should be cognizant that Gal will find him because Sarge knows its coming.

I have a feeling regardless of his play he'll never get a legitimate shot with the mavericks.

I think it has more to do with his size. There are not too many SGs under 6 foot. If he was 6-5"-6-7" he could fill a niche as an outside shooter for a team. There are tyons of journeyman type guys that fill that role every year in the NBA.

You're probably right. Look at Nate Robinson. Guy was playing out of his mind and one of the highlights of playoffs. He still hasn't found a team.
