I have never been as pumped up for a movie as I am for this one. I've followed this baby from day one, and it's almost here after three long years. I've already pre-ordered my ticket for the midnight IMAX showing.

I'm trying to keep from going insane waiting for it. The internet hype isn't making it easier. There's only been a few official reviews for it so far, but every one of them is calling it a masterpiece. One critic even said it belonged on the same list as "the Departed," "Heat," and "The Untouchables" of great crime-dramas. More than one critic has called the greatest comic-based movie ever made, and even more have compared it to "The Empire Strikes Back" and "The Godfather Part II" in terms of sequel quality.

http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/the_dark_knight/

All the while I just have to keep telling myself that I've waited three years, so I can wait another two weeks.

BTW, one thing anyone who doesn't know already should be aware of before taking their kids to see it is that THIS IS NOT A KIDS MOVIE. I've read just about every available review for it so far and pretty much every critic at some point mentions that this movie is perhaps the most violent and intense movie to ever net a PG-13 rating, and they go on to say they wonder how "The Dark Knight" avoided an R-rating. As an adult male lifelong Bat-fan with no kids, this is what I've been waiting to hear my whole life. However, anyone with small kids thinking they can take them to see this and then go to McDonald's and get Batman toys in the happy-meals might want to think twice. Try "Wall-E" instead.

I am sooooo disappointed that I'm stuck living here in Waco by myself this summer. 1, there's a major lacking in good theaters, 2, I have no one to see this with. Maybe I can get a date. Ohoho. I crack myself up.

I too pre-ordered my tickets. I've been following this movie for 2 and a half years. The thing i'm worried about is WB's leaking a lot of footage online.

Also, the movie's been selling out so fast, they're doing 3 a.m. showings at IMAX.

Yeah, girls love it when the first thing you suggest is to go see a comic book movie...

If you find one that actually does love that, you should marry her.

Hey, my wife's probably more excited about Dark Knight than I am. Does that mean she's a keeper?

from what i've heard it may be the best film of the year. and not just comic book film, or action film, or whatever. best film period.

Not quite. While that picture hasn't been confirmed to be real, it hasn't been proven fake either. In fact, I'm pretty sure it's actually a pic from the movie. WB ordered several websites to take that picture down, and I doubt they'd have gone through the trouble if it was fake.

I don't care for the look at all, but I am pretty sure that is a pic from the movie. Several reviews mention Dent's "computer-generated" scarring. Also this look is virtually identical to the way Tim Sale draws Two-Face, and it's well-documented that Nolan is a fan of Sale's work.

Wow some excited people on here. I am not even Into Batman like that. The only superhero movie I liked was X men. I hope they come out with like Justice League ..then I can see me being excited : )

** I saw Hancock and actually liked it

But also because Nolan insists on making his movies "realistic" yet anyone who was missing their eyelid and one of their cheeks would very quickly lose the use of that eye, and they would also be unable to speak or eat properly. But whatever, I suppose I'm nitpicking. At least he's not purple like he was in Batman Forever.

We gotta remind ourselves...they're trying to make a comic seem realistic and still fanciful. I agree about the reality of your comments...but at least he is not purple.

...and at least he's not Tommy Lee Jones?

Nothing against Tommy. I loved The Fugitive and many other movies of his, but he just isn't a Two-Face...

I blame Bruckhimer way more than TLJ for that ridiculous incarnation...he wanted over the top..and that is just what TLJ game him. Its not his fault he doesnt do over the top. Now Jim Carrey on the other hand...

Batman Forever just sucked hard IMO.

TLJ, Jim Carrey, Alicia Silverstone, Clooney, Arnold?

Too many stars in 1 movie for me.

Michael Cane, Christian Bale, Heath Ledger, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Gary Oldman, Anthony Michael Hall...

its not the number of stars in the movie, its about the superhero and the feeling of the movie. Batman Forever completely lost touch with what made batman so cool-- his imperfection and dualism. Sure Bruce Wayne lived a double life in the movie but even as Batman he was just a goody two-shoes superhero.

Bruce Wayne is supposed to be a scarred man uneasy with being new rich that wanted a family more than money and whose dark side has kept him lonely even with thousands of family friends around. His only real friend is Alfred who is a professional, paid servant.

Bruce Wayne's alter ego, Batman is a terrorist and a mercenary who lives by instilling fear, who breaks the law, and acts quickly like an animal but without following any protocol. Batman is a man that focuses completely on the ends, and forgets the means-- doing good in bad ways.

The duality of both characters is what makes batman such a compelling story. Batman Forever was the lamest of the lame because it had a protagonist with zero depth and made him fight ridiculously saturday-morning-cartoon-villains.

What made Batman forever so bad is what makes Dark Knight so promising-- Batman as a tale of human imperfection, dualism, and fear. Its a story of ends and means, good and evil

Arnold, Silverstone, Clooney...were in Batman and Robin.

Val Kilmer, Jim Cerrey, Tommy Lee Jones, Nicole Kidman, and Chris O'Donnell...and even Drew Berrymore was Batman Forever

You know, i was going to say drew berrymore but confused her with silverstone instead.

Point is i like movies with a bunch of good UNKNOWN actors, like The Dark Knight.
