good for TCU. I wish he would have went to Houston. Actually, I'm hoping that Kirby Freeman goes there.

It depends, its up to Mack Brown. If brown signs a waiver he could play next year. I would doubt seriously brown would sign it though.

Now NBC is saying that Snead is denying the rumors reported by the Dallas Morning News, Austin misStatesman, and other news sources.

He says he is staying at UT.

Dang, we could have used him here at TCU.

The FW Startelgram confirmed that Snead is leaving UT. They mentioned TCU, Houston, and Louisville (I think) as possible destinations. Snead was quoted as saying he and two other UT players (also leaving) want more playing time.

They showed Snead on NBC news denying the report. What a soap opera.

he will end up transferring, it just makes too much sense for him not to. He will never get pt at UT and he has enough talent that he could actually hope to go to the nfl someday. Cant throw away those dreams just because you like UT(yes i know backups can go to the nfl too but its harder)

Funny, Startelgram also said he would likely not play in a Bowl game for UT, making McCoy and some walk-on senior qb the only options for the Longhorns. This is screwy.

Texas QB Snead will transfer to Ole Miss
By Bruce Feldman and Joe Schad
Special to ESPN.com

Former Texas Longhorns quarterback Jevan Snead will continue his career at Ole Miss, ESPN has learned.

Snead, who played in five games this season as a true freshman for UT, picked the Rebels over TCU and Houston.

"It's a great fit for me," Snead said. "I really like the coaches and the offense. Coming out of high school I really looked hard at SEC schools."

Snead said he'll report to Oxford around Jan. 15.

"I don't regret any of my time at Texas," Snead said. "I hope nothing but the best for Colt McCoy and the Longhorns. But I'm ready to follow my own dreams now."

The 6-foot-3, 215-pound Texan will have three seasons of eligibility beginning in the 2008 season. Snead had been looking for a program that had a rising senior quarterback and would be looking to find a replacement for the season Snead will become eligible. He visited the Rebels' campus in Oxford over the weekend.

ESPN.com ranked Snead as the nation's No. 3 QB prospect (13th overall) in the Class of 2006. He competed for the Longhorns' QB vacancy following the departure of Vince Young, but lost out to redshirt freshman McCoy.

I don't know why I didn't catch this... Yes, he has to sit out a year regardless of Brown signing a waiver. Brown has to release Snead before he can transfer to another school, but he must sit out a year before playing for another D1 school. Transferring after the Fall semester only allows him to practice with the team next year.

If Brown wanted to, he could not sign the release on Snead and keep him from transferring to another D1 school. But, that rarely happens.
