KP gonna go off tonight.

The Knicks and their fans are in such a sad state, their highlights are wanking over Mavs boxscores after KP having a bad game.
No excuses for the bench mob tonight, they own the team one
Still expect (because its at the Garden) that either Portis or Morris deliver a hard foul to KP if he goes off

Possibly. If KP goes off for >40, and Bullet has another 0-fer* in front of a packed MSG chanting "Kris-taps Por-zin-gis, clap-clap, clap-clap-clap", James Dolan himself may fire Fiz via Twitter in a post-game press conference.
Fizdale's status is said to hinge on evaluations after every 10 games, but his departure is inevitable.
Quote:
*The Knicks hoped Dennis Smith Jr. would be their answer at the one after acquiring him in the Porzingis trade last season. So far, he’s averaging less than one point per game on worse than 10 percent shooting from the field. In his last game against the Bulls — his first since leaving the team to be with his family after the death of his step-mother — he missed all three of his field goal attempts and turned the ball over three times to his two assists.
It would be easy to chalk up his performance to fatigue and rust had he not had similar stat lines already earlier in the season.

Which is why the Mavs still need an enforcer-type presence to dissuade knickle-heads like Portis and Morris.
Boban anyone?

Not sure he is the answer, but question Boban is definitely being under utilized.

Still think we need a player with a bully attitude and/or an intimidating presence on this team.
Stack in 2006 and DeShawn in 2011 help support my case.

Don't really care how KP does. Generally with knee surgery, it's going to take 40-70 games to get fully back into it and thats guys who miss one season. He missed 1.5 season and is coming back into a new system.
I just want a W. I want to see the defense improve and some fire from the guys.

Yeah, I could actually see a poor game from KP. Think it will be good to put the stupid Knicks games behind him early and move on. Never seen such a pitiful, foam at the mouth for no reason fanbase in my life.

The team has been up and down - more down than up the last couple of games. With a couple of days since the last game and a little rest and some coaching, I expect the Mavs to administer a complete ass kicking tonight. I'm thinking +14 ish but would love to see a 20+ smackdown.

I'm sorta the opposite. I care much more about seeing KP get comfortable with the team and develop chemistry with Luka than I do about any win or loss at this point.

Agree. Ws and Ls don't matter at this point if the two best players aren't synched up. Gotta be thinkin' long-term strategery.
I think it's more likely than not that KP will get applause at MSG tonight, especially if he lights up the NIX. NIX fans can be mindless and obnoxious, but there is a swath who understand what's going on, and they appreciate a good performance, hometeam or not. It was said last year after The Trade that MSG was not a good pace for an emotionally fragile, weak, immature young player to find himself, and that NIX fans would turn vicious in a New York-minute if assets didn't produce. Assets have not produced.
Fizdale may get booed, and any player involved in the Porzingis trade who is still with the team may get booed, particularly if he lays an(other) egg. And double-particularly if KP is simultaneously having a strong performance.

Agreed. I said this in another thread, but I'm not expecting big numbers from him at all this year. I think 20 and 8-9 is about right. I expect it to be very up and down and frustrating to watch at times.

I doubt there will be more applause than boos for KP. If I had to bet it would be that they give him the "you abandoned our great organization" treatment right off the bat and thought the game.
Wins and losses dont matter? Tell that to Luka who is going above and beyond every single night. He is synched up just fine..its KP who needs to get it in gear. We need all the wins we can get while he is knocking the rust off and gaining confidence.

Knicks are such an overvalued, overrated legacy franchise. They have been losers more than winners and are still clinging to those titles way back in the super watered-down days. Pretty sure they sucked for most of the 70's and all of the 80's, were good in the 90's and have had maybe a couple good seasons in the last 20. The Garden mystique is also mostly myth. Its a good place to watch basketball. Its not some holy mecca. No Fenway or Wrigley. The Palestra in Philly for big 5 is a cooler experience.

That's not the mindset of the majority of NYK fans right now, not at all. They realize that they (the fans) got shafted in the trade, and that they got sold a bunch of lies about free agency. Fizdale is the easy target because he's the most accessible, but Perry and Mills are hanging by a thread, and the fans smell blood. Add to that the fact that KP has said nothing but good things about the city and the fans and I don't foresee harsh treatment for him.
Wins and losses don't matter if the top two players aren't synched up. That means playing together, re-inforcing each other's strengths, compensating for each other's limitations, making the game easier for one anotehr, and making each other (and their teammates) better. One player playing well and another playing like.....not so well, is not MY definition of being in synch.
Luka will learn, sooner or later, that he can't dominate the league by himself, at least not in terms of winning championships. He's luckier than most top young players in that he is playing alongside a uniquely outstanding talent in KP. Dominating the stat line with empty triple doubles (especially in a losing effort) is pointless, beyond pushing his own brand. I see way too many figures in national media, in the Mavs press, and on this board who seem to think that Luka's trip-dubs are an end in themselves. Letting Luka's stat lines come between him and KP is a one-way ticket to Loserville. Promoting Luka's personal achievements at the cost of all else is a sure way to put off top-tier free agents too. Who is going to want to come play second- or third-fiddle to Luka and/or KP?
The best thing Luka can do for the Mavs is establish himself as player who makes OTHER players better, not some Euro-Iverson knockoff who puts up big numbers at the expense of his teammates, and never finishing first.

I get what you mean about synching up..but KP is more the issue than Luka. Get open, establish a solid base in the post, set strong picks and roll hard... like DP.
Luka is averaging about a triple double so he has no problem getting others shots, especially when they get open. His contributions cant be remotely considered me first or selfish.

Luka only trails Lebron in potential assists, and assist points created, so he is getting guys shots.

I wonder if KP has been nervous about going back to New York. Maybe he'll do better once this is all in the past.

We better get our shit together quickly because I just can't take 2 losses to the Knicks. In less than a week. And not because of porzingis or any of that, just because it's the fucking Knicks

catch and shoot in rhythm with nobody on you. Most NBA players should be able to do that.
