Matt Harrison is beasting. 18 straight retired. Back-to-back terrific starts for him to start the year.

Man, no kidding. Obviously it is early and obviously he has to stay healthy and get good run support throughout the year but does this crazy Fer actually have a chance to do what he suggested he would do (make the ASG and be a candidate for the Cy Young)?

Sounds crazy to even suggest that, but he is 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA after 14 innings and he just completely shut down a team that tore up Lewis. His outings haven't just been good, they have been terrific. 2 hits in 7 innings tonight. You would like to see his Ks up more, but like Lee, he pitches to contact. Plus he had 8 Ks last time out so 11 Ks in 14 innings isn't bad at all.

Where did this shit come from?

Love seeing Harrison pitch like this. Still very concerned about Lewis, but Harrison looking like this after two games alleviates a lot of those worries.

Sumanabitch this kid Strop has potential... He is still raw and he throws too many pitches but that was still an impressive outing even with the two balks, two walks and PeeA's hit.

Some of those 80-85mph breaking balls were Feliz/ARod like and then BOOM - 97mph!

He needs to learn the head part of pitching but he has the arm part down pat.

Actually, Harrison was a VERY highly tauted prospect with Atlanta. Him finding some success should not be surprise. I have had alot of converstations with people about the guy. It was always.. "I like his stuff, but he doesn't go after hitters". Let's also remember this guy had about a 20 inning scorless streak a couple of years ago. He has had success in spurts, but he has been unable to sustain it over the course of a season.

Great outing from Holland. 6 IP and no runs. Let's go bullpen, get him a W!

He did give up some line drives, for sure. On the other hand, that park is a bandbox, so him not allowing anything to leave the yard is encouraging.

to be fair, every hit he gave up was softly hit though. He gave up a .333 babip which would seem to mean he was actually a little unlucky. He was VERY good yesterday

I was more talking about the two crushed balls that he gave up that were just a tad foul.

I'm not a big fan of babip.. all balls in play are not created equal.

I don't care how you pitch en route to a scoreless start. You could have better stuff and allow more runs. But I'd rather a pitcher keep the other team off the scoreboard, no matter how it looks. What Holland is showing is that he is capable of getting out of some tight spots. Same deal with Harrison, except he's been even better.

Stupid midweek day games. Gonna have to tune out all sports sites until tonight when I'm done watching the game. Same thing for the next two days.

I don't have a problem with the way Holland is pitching... I just want to see less fastballs over the middle of the plate. That can be the difference between him being an "ok" starter and a #2 guy.

I predict a shutdown inning by Oganda as a follow up to the rangers giving him a lead.

By my very unofficial estimate, the Rangers 3, 4 & 5 starters have 6 quality starts in six appareances and are 6-0 with a 1.155 ERA.

That's an acceptable level of performance for the back end of the rotation in my humble opinion.

except neither of the foulballs was a fb over the middle of the plate. Weiters was a hanging changeup, Reynolds was a fb that was barely a strike on the inside corner.

As for todays game, damn ogando is killing it as a starter. Also Josh has GOT to catch the Miguel Cabrera double.

I merged two points..
1. Holland leaves too many fastballs up and over the middle of the plate. This has always been a problem
2. He was hit harder than his line would indicate yesterday

I understand it, too, but I would imagine a dyed-in-the-wool saberhead would say that you never, ever, ever, ever put the tying run on base voluntarily.

Damn! 9-1 and our 3/4/5 have been our best pitchers this year. So, when Hunter gets healthy is he replacing CJ or Colby in the rotation?

Tough to see him getting his spot back. Same goes for Webb. Even if he does get consistent and learns to throw a damn baseball again - who is he coming in for? 2-0 Harrison? 2-0 Holland? 2-0 Ogando?

He gave up 3 line drives in the entire game. He wasnt hit hard yesterday. Yes the foul balls were both bombs. That said, a ton of people give up bombs that go foul. He pitched an absolutely brilliant game.

Tough to see him getting his spot back. Same goes for Webb. Even if he does get consistent and learns to throw a damn baseball again - who is he coming in for? 2-0 Harrison? 2-0 Holland? 2-0 Ogando?
He takes Dave Bush's spot as a long reliever would be my guess.(and yes i know you were kidding about the cj or colby spot)

I love this team. I haven't even gotten to watch many games, but damn I love them.

The thing that marked the Cowboys dynasty of the 90s was that they could play any way they wanted. Emmitt running for 180 yards, or Irvin going off for 120 and 2 TDs, or Novacek up the middle, or winning a defensive struggle. It didn't matter...they just won. And that's exactly what this team is doing. Now they haven't won a title yet, but damn if they don't look like they could.

Can someone give Rhad a better end-of-game call than, "there you go boys"? It's awful. Please. Anything.

These unsuspecting strangers learned the truth of wrong from right.

(Too subtle? Not enough roundhouse kicks?)

can whisper tales of gore,
of how we calmed the tides of war
We are your overlords

On we sweep with, with threshing oar
Our only goal will be the western shore

S-so now you better stop and rebuild all your ruins
for peace and trust can win the day despite of all you're losin'
