I miss the days when the Eastern countries would march in file by file. Don't tell me you didn't watch that and know that it was ON!

Yeah that stadium's no joke. Some of the stuff they did before the countries came in just defied logic. Quite cool.
Very cool to see Dirk, and always a rush to see the boys and girls in blue walk in.

No kidding. We can't collectively figure out if we want to drill for oil or not over here, and these fools are building world-class arenas and pulling off stuff we could only hope to imagine. Good on 'em, I say. They are showing very well for themselves thus far.
But...wow.

They're talking about the game with Team USA v China on Sunday Morning being a huge ratings grabber. Kidd said it's "Game 7, times seven."
I can't wait to see that one.

The broadcast between China v. US men's basketball team may end up being the most watched ever. Not just sports. But, ever.

Anyone find a file / online video of Dirk carrying the flag? I missed it due to the fact that there were way too many countries...and...I went to watch Pineapple Express.

I hope someone got it... it was pretty funny. He was doing his goofy laugh like usual and had the Olympic rings shaved into the side of his head.

Here a video of Dirk carrying the flag. Not the best quality because itĀ“s taken with a camera from a TV screen, but better than nothing: Link
(Germany is participating with about 350 athletes)
Here a summary of the opening ceremony: Link
Here a video of the firework at the end: Link

I wonder why team handball has zero exposure in the United States. It's a pretty interesting game. I'm watching Germany and Brazil women play and it's holding my attention.

I usually donĀ“t like league handball, but semifinals or finals and european-champions-cup games are really exciting.

It's the same reason we don't play Netball or Ringette.

I've never heard of either of those, but Handball seems to have a lot of things the U.S. tends to like in its team sports.

opening cermeonies were CAR-RAZY...
my cousin is a goalie for the US Women's water polo team and she got a lot of face time when the US walked in. She was walking right behind the two beach volleyball players (Misty May and Kerri Walsh). They also showed the water polo team posing for a picture later on the infield. so cool.

Yeah, they looked sloppy and the Women's team I saw this afternoon didn't look like they were on their game either, lots of silly mistakes.
