Default Nj/Por/Dal... is this fair?

I know that some people will not like this trade becasue we will be giving up precious youth (josh Howard)... and I am not even sure if the mavs should pull the trigger on this one, but this is just an idea.

Dallas trades: SF Josh Howard (8.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 23.7 minutes)
PG Tony Delk (6.0 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 15.4 minutes)
C Shawn Bradley (3.3 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.3 apg in 11.7 minutes)
PF Christian Laettner (5.9 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 20.5 minutes)
SF Jerry Stackhouse (13.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.0 apg in 29.8 minutes)
PF Antoine Walker (14.0 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 4.5 apg in 34.6 minutes)
Dallas receives: C Alonzo Mourning (8.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 17.9 minutes)
PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 36.5 minutes)
SG Ruben Patterson (7.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.9 apg in 22.6 minutes)
C Theo Ratliff (7.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 0.8 apg in 31.3 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -13.3 ppg, -7.0 rpg, and -0.5 apg.

New Jersey trades: C Alonzo Mourning (8.0 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 0.7 apg in 17.9 minutes)
PG Jason Kidd (15.5 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 9.2 apg in 36.5 minutes)
New Jersey receives: PF Christian Laettner (5.9 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.9 apg in 48 games)
PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 85 games)
Change in team outlook: -1.3 ppg, +3.6 rpg, and -6.0 apg.

Portland trades: SG Ruben Patterson (7.0 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.9 apg in 22.6 minutes)
C Theo Ratliff (7.9 ppg, 7.2 rpg, 0.8 apg in 31.3 minutes)
PF Shareef Abdur-Rahim (16.3 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 2.0 apg in 31.6 minutes)
Portland receives: SF Josh Howard (8.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 67 games)
PG Tony Delk (6.0 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 33 games)
C Shawn Bradley (3.3 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 0.3 apg in 66 games)
SF Jerry Stackhouse (13.9 ppg, 3.6 rpg, 4.0 apg in 26 games)
PF Antoine Walker (14.0 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 4.5 apg in 82 games)
Change in team outlook: +14.6 ppg, +3.4 rpg, and +6.5 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Kidd/Harris/Aj
Daniels/Patterson/TAW
Fin/Najera
Dirk/Booth
Ratliff/Mbenga/PPod

I would feel a lot better about this deal if we could sign Keon Clark to the vet min. so the linup would have a more secure frontcourt (booth move to backup center becasue the others havent ever played a game)

Kidd/Harris/Aj
Daniels/Patterson/TAW
Fin/Najera
Dirk/Clark
Ratliff/Booth/Mbenga

Everyone of those players has definsive credintials (except dirk)... opponents would average 95 points at the most. Also with steff/Zo, we would be at 15 players so we would be ready for the season.

i usually say i hate trades that involve josh howard, but i really like this trade. I think its fair for all teams. I do think that New Jersey might want someone else, like a pg or sg. But I like the trade very much. good work!

well i was reviewing the trade and realized that i forgot about PPod... so we will need to trim one more player. Instead of cutting steff or shopping people around for 2nd round picks, we could throw steff in to NJ to give them a chance to find a point gaurd to play next year... just to sweaten the deal and trim our roster.

That would give NJ that other gaurd that you are talking about.

I think portland would have to consider.

-They need to trade shareef
-They get a young player in Howard who can really help them
-Walker would fit well on the blazer because they need his diversity
-Stackhouse is an upgrade from rueben patterson... Patterson is one of the last felons on that team that they are trying to get rid of (staudamire is ther other.... Randolf is the criminal that they do want)

The only problem is that bradley/stefania might not be enough at center. It would be a little more logical if dale davis were still around.

I'd rather just do a deal with NJ directly and leave Portland out of it.

Why get greedy? If Kidd shows he is healthy, then I think a trade with Portland makes a lot of sense.

SAR/TAW to NJ
Laettner/TE to Portland
Kidd to Dallas.

I think it is a win win win.

I think Portland would rather have Kidd than L8 and the TE. If this is the case, why shouldn't Portland and NJ just do a SAR for Kidd straight up? Why even include Dallas? It's bad for NJ and bad for Portland. I don't see either club including us to make it worse for them and better for us.
