Let's see...The leftist meme is that the republicans do all sorts of things for the crooked oil companies.

It appears that the democrats do all sorts of things for REAL crooked fund-raisers.

Hsu pleaded no contest in 1991 to a felony count of grand theft, admitting he'd defrauded investors of $1 million in a bogus investment scam. He was facing up to three years in prison when he skipped town before his 1992 sentencing date, Deputy Attorney General Ronald Smetana said outside court.

Friday's 10-minute hearing in San Mateo County Superior Court was the culmination of a stunningly quick fall from grace for a disgraced California businessman who remade himself in New York as a benefactor of Democratic causes and candidates, including presidential contenders Sen. Barack Obama and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, whose campaign designated Hsu a "HillRaiser," the title given to top donors.

Federal Election Commission records show Hsu donated $260,000 to Democratic Party groups and federal candidates since 2004. Though a top fundraiser for Clinton, he also donated to Obama's Senate campaign in 2004 and to Obama's political action committee.

After reports surfaced this week of his fugitive status, politicians at all levels scrambled to distance themselves.

Obama's campaign said Thursday it would give to charity the $2,000 Hsu contributed to his 2004 Senate campaign and the $5,000 Hsu gave to his political action committee, Hopefund.

A shady Chinese megadonor to Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign has close ties to an aerospace mogul accused of placing his business interests before national security by sharing missile secrets with Beijing during the Clinton administration.

Before his forced resignation last week, Norman Yuan Yuen Hsu (pictured with Hillary) sat on the board of trustees of the liberal New School university in New York with former Loral Corp. head Bernard L. Schwartz, who was allowed to transfer restricted satellite and missile technology to a People's Liberation Army front after contributing a record amount of cash to President Clinton's 1996 campaign.

Last November, Schwartz and Hsu chaired a New School banquet at the Mandarin Oriental in New York which featured Sen. Clinton as keynote speaker. Clinton steered a $1 million federal grant to the college.

More recently, Schwartz and Hsu (pronounced shoo) appeared together at the New York Yacht Club for Democratic Rep. Patrick Kennedy's 40th birthday bash...

All told, 22 Democrat donors were convicted in the Chinagate probe, which the Justice Department officially closed a few years ago.

Former President Bill Clinton said he was “shocked” by revelations that a top fundraiser for his wife is a fugitive from justice and claimed he didn’t even know what “HillRaiser” Norman Hsu did for a living.

“You could have knocked me over with a straw, especially when I heard the L.A. people had been allegedly looking for him for 15 years when he was in plain view,” he told Newsday while touring a county fair in rural New Hampshire Sunday.

“I never knew how he made a living or anything, but I was shocked,” said Clinton of Hsu, who has made millions as an investor in textile and other businesses.

I'm all for Hsu being brought to justice, but how was Bubba supposed to know about this when it appears it took 15 years for law enforcement to realize this guy was the one from California? Dude, just how much of law enforcement's job are you saying the democratic fundraising comittees should be responsible for?

Devin..the clintons have a long history with mr. hsu.
EDIT: This does not seem to be the case. I was thinking the other chinese campaign funds that they clintons got that had been looked at.
