NBA Free Agent Signings/Agreements/Rumors
Figured we don't need a new thread for every free agent.
Pistons agree with Jodie Meeks at 3/19. Wow, that is a lot IMO. Gosh teams can be stupid.

Pistons have issues with their leadership. I think that since Detroit is such a blight and the team wasn't any good, that they got desperate to bring in at least one FA.

Also rumors of the Pistons looking to trade for Ryan Anderson... SVG is remaking the roster in the 2009 Magic mold.

@WojYahooNBA: After surgery to repair torn rotator cuff, Patty Mills will likely be out until March, sources tell Yahoo. Spurs still want to re-sign him.

Marcin Gortat to stay with Wizards. Gortat agreed to a five-year deal worth a fully guaranteed $60 million, with neither a player nor a team option entering the final season.
Warriors agreed to terms for Shaun Livingston - 3 years partial guarantee.

@WojYahooNBA: Sources: Euro shooter Damjan Rudez reaches agreement on 3-year deal with Indiana Pacers.
@ZachLowe_NBA: Pacers nearing point at which they will have to dump salary -- buy out Scola, trade someone -- to keep Lance and duck the tax.

Pretty big contracts so far...especially considering all of those are role players so far minus Gortat.

Nice to see teams with cap space burning it all so quickly - less competition for players... You'll eventually get to a point in free agency where the market can no longer afford to overpay guys like this. That's when deals like Ellis sprout up.

It looks like the Brooklyn Nets are having a bad week. Lol. Jason Kidd is now the Bucks coach, Shaun Livingston is now going to sign with the Warriors, who was a big reason why the Nets turned around their season last year, when Deron Williams was hurt, Livingston came up big. The Nets better do something quick, cause their draft picks are limited, this may be Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce last year in the NBA, Brook Lopez foot injury is still a question mark and Deron Williams is coming off a VERY inconsistent season

I give the Pacers some credit here. They are a contender and shouldn't have to pay ridiculous amounts for him. HOWEVER...ten mil a year isn't unreasonable so I'm not sure why they weren't able to go 5/50. Maybe even that wasn't enough...

The Nets situation is comedy pur. Back in 2012 they do this moronic trade for a (maybe) rental Wallace just to please Deron to re-sign and giving up #6. They overpay Wallace (not to look stupid with a rental) so they are able to re-sign Deron. Blazers draft Lillard, a year later he is allready better than Deron and the Nets sitting on Derons 3y/60m leftover contract. Ah and of course a season with losing 144m, haha

@WojYahooNBA: Utah restricted free agent Gordon Hayward meeting in Cleveland today, lucrative offer sheet forthcoming.
@WindhorstESPN: Cavs believed to be preparing max offer sheet to RFA Gordon Hayward.
@ESPNSteinLine: Jazz have been vowing to match any offer Hayward gets. But could well cost 'em more now than it would have had they extended GH in October.
@ESPNSteinLine: Various versions continue to circulate but most popular had Jazz offer to Hayward topping out at four years, $48M ... with GH seeking 4/52

@KBergCBS: Second year of Ben Gordon's two-year, $9m deal with Orlando is team option. Still, lucrative deal for a guy who played 19 games last year.

Jazz would be stupid to match. They aren't a playoff team with Hayward so why commit to max money if that Cavs rumor is true? You can't rebuild paying a guy max money who isn't a superstar.

Deron Williams is also having ankle surgery in the off-season. Again.
Lopez's foot injury is a repeat too--third time the same place has been injured. Which is a shame too, because he's looking like something like a cross between Sam Bowie and Yao Ming. Both injury-wise, and talent-wise.
Kevin Garnett could barely grind his bones together well enough to get off a jump-shot in the series v. the Heat. His tank looks empty. Minus Kidd? Minus Pierce? Other than the paycheck, there's pretty much no reason for him to show up to games anymore.
Nets are quickly devolving into a vortex of suckitude.

I knew that was going to happen eventually, but I didn't think the fall would be so far so fast with such a high pricetag... Prokhorov is one of the richest people on the planet, but nobody is rich enough to simply ignore flushing $144m down the toilet in one year on one investment.

Screw Billy King. Ivan needs to get over here and run this thing his own self. (Rod Thorn smelled something rotten, I think.) I suspect that Russian ownership of the Nets is an extreme example of Russians stashing assets abroad, much like Russian millionaries/billionaires buying high-end Manhattan real estate.
I forget what he paid to acquire the Nets ($300-350 million, with current valuation of $780 million), but if the Bucks can go for nearly $600 million, and the Clips can go for $2 billion, he should come out okay if he's looking to sell in a few years. But yeah, still...$144MM for a 2nd-round exit is pretty heady.

@WojYahooNBA: Free agent CJ Miles has agreed to 4-year, $18M deal with Pacers.
Sounds like Lance is a goner if Indy is unwilling to go into LuxTax...

This offseason is proving once again that teams are more than willing to spend. A player really is only worth what a team is willing to pay. Impossible to determine a player's worth before the offseason...for sure.

@ZachLowe_NBA: Multiple sources say Rudez is getting $1.1M next year from Pacers. Puts total salary for now at ~ $69.3M, less than $8M below tax.
@ZachLowe_NBA: Pacers can shave about $2.9M off that figure by buying out Scola, getting it to about $66.4M. That may leave enough for Lance.
@ZachLowe_NBA: Correction: IND is even higher than $69.3M. More like $72M. Had been using Paul George's old estimated max figure. Apologies.

Rumored... Last solid number reported was that Hayward was seeking 4/52, so that's $13m per season.

That's a nice contract/situation for Miles. I saw him as a guy Dallas should look at, but wouldn't have wanted to go that high.

@ESPNSteinLine: Deal for Spurs' Patty Mills, I'm told, is in $12 million range over three years.

@WojYahooNBA: Cleveland's belief that Utah will match any Hayward offer sheet is strongly discouraging Cavs from extending one.
