I'll admit, I find it utterly bizarre when somebody says they don't "trust" Twitter, as if Twitter is some sentient being capable of having credibility issues.

You guys are taking this way too literally. It's not like I think twitter is some secret organization out to fraud me. I just take every tweet with a grain of salt. Its mostly just rumors. If something Really happens I'll see it through a different source.

Most of those "different sources" you refer to are themselves on Twitter, and they usually put the information there first before anywhere else.

9/214. Holy crap.
I don't think anyone could have an issue with the Rangers not being anywhere near that.

So, uh...
What do the Tigers do in 2013 when their three best hitters are DHs?

Well thank god this crap is over so I dont have to hear from you guys wanting prince fielder for the next few months. We all agree that it would be a huge mistake to sign him for that kind of a deal. All is well ! lol

I expect Roy Oswalt to sign with the Rangers any day now. Don't really see our reasoning behind getting him, as we will now have to move another starter to the BP along with Ogando. And I'm seeing that would be Harrison. He had a great 2011 as a starter and I was looking forward to seeing him try to match that success this season. Plus Oswalt's injury issues concern me.

I'm going to bet Oswalt goes somewhere else. Taking harrison out of the lineup would leave Texas with just one left handed pitcher in their starting rotation. Not. Gonna. Happen.

Oswalt only wants the Cards or Rangers. And the Cards aren't even going after him. Plus Oswalt already has a good relationship with Nolan and Mike Maddux. So Oswalt is very likely coming here IMO.

Texas signs a 25 year old left handed center fielder to minor league. Hmm!
Cards deny that Oswalt deal is in the works

Harrison, who was a guest on 103.3’s The Ben and Skin Show [KESN-FM] on Tuesday, said the addition of Oswalt could lead to the 26-year-old left hander asking for a trade.
“That could be an option,” Harrison said. “I feel like I proved myself last year, that I could be a consistent starter in the big leagues. I’m not saying the bullpen is a bad thing but I think I’m better suited for the rotation because pretty much at the beginning of the game I’m a little bit of a slow starter and I kind of acclimate as the game goes on.”
|
Please don't sign Oswalt. I don't want Harrison to ask for a trade or leave.

It must be tough to have to pay someone to be your best friend. I mean that's what he needs, not some Ranger representative babysitting him the whole time. He needs an old buddy that actually cares whether or not he boozes out, and isnt in it for personal gain (see: profit).
That said, if he just had a beer or some wine in moderation it might be alright. If he got whiskey hammered however that's a big concern.

Don't kid yourself, either scenario is a huge concern.
Also, the "accountability partner" he had up until recently was someone he'd known since he was a child.

Yeah, any drink is too much when you are an alcoholic. Just very glad the reports of Ian drinking with him were blown out of proportion (appears Kinsler was there merely to get him out of there).
Sad that he can't manage this better, but it's also not all that surprising. Alcoholism is a disease - you can't always just kick it cold turkey and never have a setback. I'm not a huge Passan fan, but he said the following pretty well:
"Sobriety for those who struggle the most is merely a moment between relapses – hopefully a moment longer than the last, one that eventually lasts forever."

No, it isn't. I know people with real diseases; don't lump lack of self control in the same category.

I don't know that I'd lump it in with true "diseases", but chemical addiction is not even close to simply "lack of self control". That's stupid.

As someone from a family of alcoholics and who doesn't drink because I know I would be one, too, there is no "alright" level of alcohol consumption for an alcoholic. For someone who is also a drug addict, it's even worse (insofar as alcohol -> bad decision-making -> worse relapse).

I like my caffeine as well. I don't think its really comparable to what an alcoholic or drug addict goes through.

Compare it to something we're all addicted to: Just stop having sex. Cold turkey. And feel ashamed every time you get aroused. That's what a drug addict goes through but with drugs. lol

You would think that as much time as he spent hawking Jesus, Jesus would have thrown him a little bone there.

I'm not really sure what you're getting at. He wasn't a follower of Christ when he was going through all of his struggles and his life was so devastating. His parents were, and raised him in a Christian home, but he said he had never made the faith his own until he had hit rock bottom. Once he did, he slowly but surely was able to beat the addiction. He explained in his press conference that when he "loses focus on Christ" is when he has his weakest moments. His faith is what gets him through, but Jesus always said that the Christian life wouldn't be easy. Josh uses his faith to get him through, but that doesn't mean addiction still won't continue to be a struggle for him the rest of his life.

That's not a confirmed sex tape. Someone just tried to sell something. Doesn't mean they actually have one

Rangers sign Nellie to a two year deal, avoiding arb this year and next. Time to move on to Napoli now.

Napoli signed to one year $9.4 mil deal. Rangers streak of not going to arbitration continues for another year.
