I don't know why you keep talking about Matt Carroll. The analogy has nothing to do with player evaluations (which involve objectively comparable statistics). You were comparing announcers on the basis of their announcing qualities, which is of course entirely subjective.

There's a widely held belief that Kobe Bryant is better than Matt Carroll because there is a well-accepted set of irrefutable statistics supporting that proposition. I'll wait for you to link me to the comparable statistics for NBA announcers.
