There's no doubt that each can do certain things that the other can't. However, why anyone would bad mouth JJ after what he's done so far this season makes little sense.

JJ and Barber are a great 1-2 punch. Absolutely no criticism to go around there. That bewilders me. How about Jones's run to put us ahead?

Way too much brokeback mountain action going on here.
The cowboys should blitz the bee-jeebers out of carolina and try to kill their quarterback. Drives me nuts when the other team plays it out like this. If you are going to actually throw it downfield okay, but 10 yards is a waste of everyones time and now someone's hurt.

I guess I didn't get the memo.
Disregard everything I said about Julius Jones. The man has no flaws in his game. He is the second coming of Emmitt Smith.

Jones runs hard...Never said he didn't. But even you commented on what a hole that was. He runs hard but he doesn't have "it".

He has 'it' more than Barber. Barber just doesn't get through the hole as quickly.
Barber has the benefit of fewer carries which equals to less banging..and it also means that he's fresher when he does get his carries. I seriously doubt that Barber would be putting up JJ numbers if their carries were reversed.

The clear difference between Jones and Barber is Jones after contact is down. Barber is a truck when he has the ball. Nothings bringing him down especially first contact.

- If Newman doesn't go to the Pro-Bowl this year the league needs to intervene. That's two years in a raw that he's turned Steven Smith into just a guy.
- I anxious to see what all the national "experts" have to say about our line now. Our line isn't the best in the league but it's far from the worst.
- When you throw the ball to TO good things happen
- They can get the hearses out but i"m not getting in them yet.

5.0 yds/carry...versus 4.3 yds/carry.
Well he sure as hell gets "it" into the end zone more than julius does. You can continue to have your wrong opinion...I don't mind.

Hey, I was just commenting on the 1-2 punch. I think it's a great combination of backs. Julius gets hard yards in the early going. (Doesn't he?) Marion makes things happen when he comes in there. It looks like a great combo. Barber can certainly find the end zone. And--at least, I think--Jones can grind out some yards on first and second downs.
I don't know if I missed something, but is anyone really upset at the running back situation?

Well, that's Barber's strength. And yes, it is a big difference. But, another big difference is that Jones gets to holes that Barber could never dream of getting to. Jones is more apt to make someone miss. Barber is more apt to run through an arm tackle.

Really nice to see Romo settle down after last weeks game. I think Murphy was right it was pretty dumb to throw him out there like that and it showed. It would have made a lot more sense to let him have a week of snaps and it showed. I guess bill couldn't pull that trigger.

Unmitigated agreement. Great observations all the way around, especially the Smith/Newman thing.
And that offensive line. What did we give up up? One sack, or two? On third down? Now, it probably should have been one sack more, because Romo decided to turn it over once instead. But still...great game!

Why in the world would you think that would sway anyone towards thinking that Barber is the better runner?..esp when one runner had only 43 attempts coming into the game and the other had 121? This isn't batting average where you can break it out to how a player performs against certain pitchers..how they peform against lefties and righties.. It doesn't work that way NFL. If that were the case, Terry Glenn would be considered the best rusher on the Cowboys team. Tyson Thompson would have been considered the best of the three tailbacks on the Cowboys team last year.

I'm glad Bill did what he did before Drew had a chance to suck us in with another "just good enough " performance. That was a tough loss Monday night but if that's what it took to get rid of Drew then it will benefit the franchise in the long run.

Beats me murph...other than some numbers we are just talking at each other. You think jones is the cats meow and I think he's mediocre at best.

For whatever reason Julius Jones is never in the game when its 1st and Goal. Maybe its because Parcells has more faith in him in that situation. If so, me and Parcells can agree on that because it takes awhile to get Barber down while Jones is the type of guy who after contact is down. That's the wrong guy to have on the goal line.

He probably won't make it because of his interception total but I agree. BTW, is his streak still alive? Hasn't he gone a grip of games without a touchdown on him?

I'll be the first to admit that Jones puts up pretty decent yardage stats, and I'll also admit that it's possible that Barber might wear down with a higher number of carries. I just don't think Jones is much of a playmaker. In my opinion, he doesn't make that many guys miss, he doesn't finish off runs that well, and he has trouble getting into the end zone.

Two sacks...I'll take that.
I've watched every Cowboy segment on the NFL Network and ESPN this past week and the way they've talked about our offensive line shows how little they know. And that includes the guys who actually played the game.
Those of us who have watched this team week in and week out know that our line has been ok this year. They've had their breakdown but who hasn't? Like Bill has said numerous times over the past few weeks: any quarterback who doesn't get rid of the ball is going to get sacked.
