i don't expect 'em to roll over and die at any time. they're too young dumb and full of whatever to know they're beaten so they'll fight on light brigade style.
we'll stomp them regardless.

Gagree. This is why it's important for the Mavs to come out focused tonight and set the tone early. OKC is so mentally fragile, a little bit of success by the Mavs early on will bring the doom of inevitability to the Thunder. On the other hand, if the Thunder get on a roll early, their youthful inexperience will lead to a "what have we got to lose" attitude. I still think Dirk and the boys have the fortitude to win this game either way, but it will be a lot easier if we drop the hammer on 'em early. I'd like to see some early demoralizing "TAKE DAT WIT CHEW" alley oops to Tyson to put OKC out of its misery.
LET'S FINISH THIS!

The only positive that would come out of a Dallas win tonight, for me, will be that it will be the last game I have to see Thabo Sefolosha as a regular starter. I like him, don't get me wrong, but I'm kind of tired of a 2.5 man offense. It'd be nice to have at least a 3.5 man offense.

WE definetly need to do a better job on the boards than last time and other than that just play focussed basketball and take care of the ball and move the ball.
We have by far the best ball movement of the 4 remaining teams. Chi-Mia was just ugly to watch yesterday. You have rose and lebron dribbling the ball around for 19 seconds and then try to do something in the last 5 seconds. Everyone keeps saying both teams are playing such great defense when in reality both teams suck at half court offense.

I don't sense a blowout but I do think if we hit them in the mouth early, it could get out of hand. I expect this team to come out focused and prepared and to wrap this up for the home fans and punch our ticket to our second ever Finals. Hope they got a wake up call from game 4 and not let the Thunder jump out to a quick lead. I will be there in the platinum level hoping to see something that has never ever happened here and that is a Western Conference Finals closeout game for a trip to the Finals. Can't wait!!!!

Mavs end the series in five games. A strong energetic defense puts this game away by halftime.
Dirk scores 21 and grabs 7 boards.
JET and JJB combine for 36 pts and 15 assists.
Matrix and JKidd combine for 7 steals.
Mavs 105
Thunder 89
"Experts" say one more year of seasoning will allow the Thunder to compete for the championship. On a side note, they mention that the Mavs are in the NBA finals for the second time in five years.

If the Mavs let this one get away that is going to be ONE JACKED UP ARENA friday....Not a good strategy imo..

Thunder hang around all game and due to cold shooting late in the 3rd & into the 4th by Dirks supporting cast, they edge out Mavs by 5 to push series to 6 games. MAvs 88- Thunder 93.

The Mavs can very well lose this one tonight if they are getting pounded on the glass again like in game 3
As good as the last 5 minutes in game 3 have been, the mavs were really lucky to win this one and they didn't deserve it in some way (dirk deserved it though ; ) )
I am really nervous : /
p.s.: anyone knows what the status of ibaka is ? i read some comments that were made late in the game that he was limping at the end of overtime

Um, last time we went was 2006 - you don't count the entire season that preceded the Finals appearance...
1st year - lost to Golden State in the 1st round.
2nd year - lost to New Orleans in the 1st round.
3rd year - lost to Denver in the 2nd round.
4th year - lost to San Antonio in the 1st round.
5th year - in progress.

LOVE this Carlise quote from espndallas...

Do you mean 6 seasons?
Because that's not the same as 6 increments of 365 days, which is what the poster you were "correcting" had implied...

I'm definitely having trouble processing how May 2011 is "six years" away from May 2006.

I don't understand the confusion, and I really feel like we're spending too much time analyzing a light-hearted (and VERY minor) correction.
He said they would be talking about how we are going back to the Finals for the 2nd time in five years. That would imply that we went to the Finals in 2007. We did not.
If we were to look at your breakdown, for example:
Quote:
1st year - lost to Golden State in the 1st round.
2nd year - lost to New Orleans in the 1st round.
3rd year - lost to Denver in the 2nd round.
4th year - lost to San Antonio in the 1st round.
5th year - in progress.
|
If we were to go to the finals this year (5th year), that would not be the 2nd time in those 5 years you listed. It would be the first and only time in those 5 years.
I wasn't trying to be the forum Nazi though, was just having a little fun. Lets move on now! :-D lol

I'm with you on this one, bro. I would count it as twice in 6 years/seasons because you include 2006.
Back on topic now... I would like to see a Thunder-soul-crushing 30-pt lead at halftime.
