This stuff is hilarious. What an idiot Mac is for not supporting drilling in this god-forsaken part of the planet.

Overpromised on Iraq? You don't say...

Why do I feel like there are no political parties I like anymore? Never thought it would come to the lesser of two evils/stupids.

Democrats in their own words. Funny... It always tickles me when democrats accuse republicans of being the intolerant party.

Quote:
The executives of a gay sex site are apparently more concerned about the perception that they're associated with John McCain than McCain is about the association with them.

The chairman of the board of Manhunt, the Cambridge-based hookup site, was forced to resign after reports that he gave $2,300 to McCain.

Manhunt co-founder Larry Basile e-mailed the blog Towleroad:

Quote:
It should be known that Jonathan Crutchley's donation to McCain left the entire Board in disbelief. I am disappointed that we have lost some customers, and I understand the anger. It is too bad for the web site if we lose customers, but PLEASE never refer to me as a Republican. I consider it an offense.

Earlier today, at the request of the Board, Jonathan has stepped down as Chairman.
McCain's campaign hasn't responded to questions about the $2,300 contribution.

Crutchley defended it on similar grounds to those McCain has offered on other hot-button social issues: They agree on national security issues, and can argue domestic policy later.

So I hear that the dems are going to be playing up TBoonePickens. Priceless. He's for more drilling than even Mac is. Really wish Mac would wake up to ANWAR...Stupid position.

Quote:
Pelosi: “The Republican ‘drill only’ plan would lower oil prices by only 2 cents a gallon over 10 years. Even Texas oilman T. Boone Pickens says, ‘This is one emergency we can’t drill our way out of’.”

T. Boone Pickens: “McCain says, ‘OK off the East and West Coast.’ I say East, West Coast and ANWR – get it all! To get off of foreign oil, that is the enemy. … You’re drilling and whatever you are able to find and put into the domestic system will help us.”

So I'm still kinda confused about why oil prices would be going down without the dollar rising in conjunction.

It's gone up from 0.6 to 0.7 in the last 3months.

Light Crude Oil Below $100 a barrel

Light crude oil prices have fallen below $100 amid signs that refineries along the Gulf of Mexico coast will soon resume operations after shutting for Hurricane Ike and escaping major damage.

``It looks like we've dodged another bullet,'' said Peter Beutel, president of energy consultant Cameron Hanover Inc. in New Canaan, Connecticut. ``The refineries in the Houston area seem to have come out of the storm remarkably intact.''

Crude oil for October delivery fell $2.10, or 2.1 percent, to $99.08 a barrel at 1:22 p.m. on the Nymex. Futures touched $98.55, the lowest since Feb. 26. Prices are up 25 percent from a year ago. Gasoline for October delivery fell 12.91 cents, or 4.7 percent, to $2.6405 a gallon in New York.

Funny...be careful what you ask for, you might get it.

Quote:
A little over a year ago:

1. Consumer confidence stood at a 5-year high;
2. Regular gasoline averaged under $2.30 a gallon;
3. The unemployment rate was down to 4.4%.
4. Americans were enjoying historically-high home equity.
.
.
Since voting in a Democrat Congress in 2006 we have seen:

1. Consumer confidence plummet;
2. The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.25 a gallon;
3. Unemployment rise to 4.8% (a 9% increase);
4. American home equity hit the lowest point in six decades;
.

America voted for change in 2006… and change is what we got!

Funny... As if the Democratic congress is to blame for this stuff... Bubbles burst. You have to blame those who create the bubbles, certainly not those who are around when the bubbles burst.

Why don't you apply for a job in McCain's spin office? You certainly seem to be a great tool for them to use, don't you think they should pay for your service?

Maybe we should all just agree with Pelosi that the congress had nothing to do with this but that it's all dubya's fault?

Maybe you should agree with nobody if you don't want to and just make up your own mind. Maybe counter-propaganda is still propaganda.

Obama is running a Spanish language TV ad accusing Limbaugh in a conversation with McCain of telling the Hispanic immigrants that they are stupid and should just shut up and get out....

Here is the truth if anyone still cares about the truth in politics:

Obama Ad Hits Rush Limbaugh

Thursday, September 18, 2008 10:38 AM

By: Jim Meyers Article Font Size

The Barack Obama campaign has released new TV and radio ads in Spanish that tie Republican opponent John McCain to anti-immigrant comments allegedly made by radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

Limbaugh denies making those assertions.

The ads, airing in Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico, also suggest McCain has "dos caras" — "two faces" — when it comes to his relations with Latino voters.

"They want us to forget the insults we've put up with, the intolerance," the television ad's announcer says in Spanish as a picture of Rush Limbaugh appears onscreen with quotes of him saying, "Mexicans are stupid and unqualified" and "Shut your mouth or get out."

"They made us feel marginalized in a country we love so much," the ad continues in a translation provided by The Washington Post. "John McCain and his Republican friends have two faces. One that says lies just to get our vote and another, even worse, that continues the failed policies of George Bush that put special interests ahead of working families."

The companion radio ad uses the same script as above and then continues:

"Don't forget that John McCain abandoned us rather than confront the leaders of the Republican Party. Many of us were born here, and others came to work and achieve a better life for their families — not to commit crimes or drain the system like many of John McCain's friends claim. Let's not be fooled by political tricks from John McCain and the Republicans. Vote so they respect us. Vote for a change."

Limbaugh reacted to the ads on Wednesday, telling his listeners: “I never said those things … We have this ad in which I am misquoted and impugned…

“Even in the heat of the amnesty battle, I never said shut your mouth or get out.

“What we have learned is that the usual suspects are behind this. The Media Matters types, the Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting types.”

Limbaugh explained the context in which one of his alleged anti-Latino quotes was uttered.

“The statement you're a foreigner, shut your mouth and get out, was made, I did say it, but in a parody of Mexican immigration laws in a Morning Update April 6th of 2006.

“We were making fun of Mexican immigration laws by trying to point out the stark difference between what you can do as an immigrant or illegal immigrant in Mexico versus what they can do here.

“Now, let me just give you some of the highlights of this: ‘Everybody's making immigration proposals these days. Let me add mine to the mix. Call it the Limbaugh Laws…

“‘First, if you emigrate to our country you have to speak the native language. You have to be a professional or an investor. No unskilled workers allowed. Also there will be no special bilingual programs in the schools with the Limbaugh Laws, no special ballots for elections, no government business will be conducted in your language, foreigners will not have the right to vote or hold political office.

“‘If you're in our country, you cannot be a burden to taxpayers. You are not entitled to welfare, food stamps, or other government goodies. You can come if you invest here an amount equal to 40,000 times the daily minimum wage. If not, stay home. But if you want to buy land it's going to be restricted. No waterfront, for instance. As a foreigner, you must relinquish individual rights to the property.

“‘And another thing, you don't have the right to protest. You're allowed no demonstrations, no foreign flag waving, no political organizing, no bad-mouthing our president or his policies. You're a foreigner, either shut your mouth or get out. And if you come here illegally, you're going to jail.

“‘You think the Limbaugh Laws are harsh? Well, every one of these laws I just mentioned are actual laws of Mexico today. That's how the Mexican government handles immigrants in their country, yet Mexicans come here illegally and protest in our streets. How do you say double standard in Spanish?’”

Limbaugh said on Wednesday that the left “constantly takes me totally out of context” and added:

“The Obama campaign has taken ‘shut your mouth or get out’ from this commentary and put it in an Obama ad and claiming I said that about Mexicans in this country, when I never have, plain and simple.”

Everybody is throwing mud... What did you expect from people without principles, integrity or convictions?

These are people I wouldn't like to have as friends.

As far as the last statement to clarify what he "SAID" he "SAID"
Or should we say "What he should have said". I agree 100% with him. It is so funny how all these double standards work in the United States. But, lets not just start with illegal immigrants. The United States owes alot of people for all these double standards. Whether you steal land from the natives, kill/enslave a race, or been a part of genocide. If you are going to give reparations to one, then you give it to the rest as well.

So let me get this straight. When oil was at 140bbl adding additional supply wouldnt' do anything to the oil price. But slow down the economy and it drops below 65bbl...

No I don't REALLY think that our oil usage has dropped by ~50% and I know our dollar hasn't increase by 100%.

So do the folks who still think no additional supply have any explanation for this?

Okay...so I saw that gasoline was below $2.00 in tennessee. It was 2.12 in dallas I saw yesterday..

Now last I looked the dollar hadn't appreciated by 200%. So what's the diff...How can gasoline be so low when it's controlled by the evil oil companies? I just don't get it..

Must've been all that off-shore drilling we did...

Probably not...but it is certainly and increase in supply because of a decrease in demand, and the feeling that supply will increase further....or something that offshore drilling would have effected.

But it DIDN'T take offshore drilling, did it?

Huh?? It took an increase in supply? If the ecnomy hadn't tanked to increase supply, off-shore-drilling would have increased supply.

It wasn't an increase in alternative energy either...what's your point?

it isn't an "increase in supply", the supply has been pretty static, it is a) a decrease in demand, and b) the demise of the ability of speculators in the futures markets to influence the price.

the affect that production from offshore drilling would make is negligible, the amount that would be produced is not a lot compared to the average consumption/day, and it in itself would not have been of a quantity to stop the markets (speculation) from expecting higher demand pushing the price higher and higher.

it has taken a world wide business recession to accomplish this. silver lining in an otherwise bad situation.

Crude Oil falls on "expectation" of further economic issues.

Quote:
Oil falls to $55 on grim US economic outlook

By ALEX KENNEDY – 10 hours ago

SINGAPORE (AP) — Oil prices slid to near $55 a barrel Thursday in Asia as more bad economic news from the U.S. heightened fears of a severe global downturn that will pulverise demand for crude.
...

The department said Wednesday it expects U.S. consumption of petroleum to next year drop more severely than any time since 1980. The department's Energy Information Administration said 2009 petroleum consumption is projected to sink by 250,000 barrels per day, or 1.3 percent, more than twice that projected in its previous outlook.
The same headline could have read months ago...

"Crude Oil falls on expectation of significant development off california, Anwar, oil shales in the US.

Now would be the best time to open up all of those reserves to KEEP these prices as low as possible. But with our new "regime" we will work hard to get those prices back where they belong.
