The "defense" that the refs let the Magic get away on Dirk was a flat out joke. Big win. Clutchness from Terry and Dirk. Chandler and Wood played well I thought. Howard got away with at least 6 travels and he had some absolute junk shots roll in.

Has anyone else noticed Butler is getting much more arc this year on his threes as compared to last year?

Dirk looks to be in a bit of a mini-funk lately, but he still managed 17 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
Kidd had a quiet double-double with 13 points and 12 assists (6 rebounds too...)
Butler shouldered the scoring load at 20, Chandler had 16, Terry had 13 and added 5 assists.
It was a fairly balanced game tonight...

lol nothing is ever Dirk's fault. He was lazy and flat out terrible on offense.. but he got some big boards and luckily we won so no harm done.

Oh please. Stop reading the boxscores and watch the damn game. He had 17/8/5 with some great defense. He had a number of huge rebounds as well, and the clutch fts (9 4th qtr. points).
He shot poorly, in large part because the refs let Hedo ass rape him with no calls. But he played a very good GAME. It's called basketball, not shooting.

Well, they might have a gripe about the free throw disparity - 21 to 12 ratio for a road team. However, those free throws were well earned. Orlando just played more physical and got penalized for it.

Dirk definitely sucked the entire first 3 quarters. In the 4th he wasn't perfect, but he was more aggressive. He was getting hacked several times, but still managed to score 9 points. And he grabbed (I believe) 4 rebounds.

My shift at work was perfectly timed for me to miss the game from the first TV timeout to the final buzzer.
Good win.

It kind of sucks that we are on pace for 67 wins right now, and yet we are still 1.5 games back in our division.

Yeah, but like you said, they were fouling like crazy. We could have easily had 40 free throws. Outside of D12, they were just chucking up threes. And clearly the gameplan was to make D12 score without fouling.
Also, your boy JJ had a great game.

I would laugh so hard if Dwight pulls a Lebron and the Magic are stuck with Arenas/Hedo for more two years and a combined 33 million each year.

Win deflation, perhaps, in a less balanced league? Or just happenstance with two beasts in the same division?

Well the Magic are not that scary. Yes, Dwight is a beast down low. But what we saw tonight is what the Magic can expect from Hedo/Arenas/JRich. All 3 of those players are streaky shooters. Arenas and Hedo need the ball in their hands to be effective. And none of them really play defense.
And let's face it... with only Howard that is a big... against Boston or the Lakers, they will get killed.

The Spurs' schedule has been sort of a cake walk thus far.
As to ours, we have beaten alot of quality teams.
I like our chances.

Yes, he certainly did. I still absolutely hate him and all dukies in general. But him especially.

The Spurs will fall at some point this year. Mavs need to worry more about who they will face in the first round. It may be better to be the number 2 seed if they get a better (easier) opponent.
And before anyone says hogwash.... just remember, the Clippers as opposed to GS.
(And right now I think the Mavs would rather play Phx than Portland or NO.

I don't think homecourt is a big deal if we face the Spurs for either side, I do however think it will matter against the lakers even if our record is better on the road

I agree with this. Ideally you don't want to say "we want to avoid them", but lets face it...that idiom is true. Certain teams are more problematic.
Portland causes issues because they play a lot of zone defense, and LMA always seem to play out of his ass vs. us. Although with Roy put out to pasture, I'm less concerned with them.
N.O. causes issues because of CP3.

GS had better odds of catching the Lakers for 7th than falling to 9th behind the Clippers at the end. I don't understand why everybody gets this wrong.

Well maybe my memory is fuzzy but the Mavs pretty much controlled the destiny of the Clippers. And Avery decided to beat them in their last meeting.

The Mavs would have had to lose to the Clippers AND beat the Warriors to get the Clippers up to 8th.
