I don't know if there's any hip-hop fans on the board but I was wondering who y'all support: Nas or Jay-Z?
I'm totally backing Nas on this one, I think Jigga is nothing but a pop sellout and Nas keeps it real. And you can't compare the two lyrically at all, Nas is light years ahead.

I just put how do you feel about Jay Z on the other thread...
I have to admit Hales, I'm definately with Nas on this because from a lyrical standpoint, he routes Jay Z in my opinion although, I have been caught listening to Jay Z too. I did like Blue Print though, it was straight though, but that song that Jay Z recently made about Nas, I didn't like it. It was real weak and he's talking about some real dumb $#.... in that one..

Since you're on hip hop because I'm a fan but not as big as I once was, who are your favorites?

Nas is one of the few "new" guys around who rhymes in narratives anymore. I used to dig Jay-Z, and I guess I still do. I'll buy one record about ice and hoes, but that's usually it.

Actually Nas isn't that new, he was more underground before not very mainstream. Now with people like Jay Z being so mainstream starting the "feud" with Nas, he's now become more mainstream. However Nas has made a few videos in the past that were all on MTV etc. etc. however he has been around for atleast the past 7 years or so... He disappeared for a while, but now he's back.

thekid jigga did that song about nas on freestyle, just freestyle as with nas he probably worked on that song for months. after hearing the song nas came up with he went into the studio and basically freestyled an song man, thats pretty damn good for straight freestyle.

Yeah I heard that however it was still a bit to juvenile for me. Talking about someone's baby's mama.... I still didn't like it. I did like the one he did on Blue Print though.

When I call Nas "new," I mean newer than say, Slick Rick. The greatest storyteller of all time.
Illmatic came out, in what, 94 or so? That's after The Chronic and Doggystyle. Those records started a new era in my head.

Yeah you're right about that, while Slick Rick is the best storyteller, from a lyric standpiont I'll always love KRS-1.

Kid,
I listen to a lot of stuff. For the past few weeks I've been listening to mostly Nas, Mobb Deep, Eightball, and Tha Eastsidaz. Other favorites include Tha Liks (formerly tha alkaholiks), xzibit, dre, snoop, 2pac(best of all-time).
