What can we expect from Austin Croshere?
ANYTHING?!?!?!?
or is he gonna get cut/traded in TC? i know hes been known as a good locker-room guy so maybe he can be useful for something but can we expect any kind of contribution??

He'll play KVH's role from last year, and hopefull/probably play it better.

Croshere should be fine as Dirk's backup as long as Dirk stays healthy & Cro doesn't see more minutes than he should... He's an upgrade from KVH in a few aspects - last season he had 5.3 RPG to KVH's 3.6 / APG 1.2 to .7 / FG% 46 to 42 / FT% 88 to 83 / 3P% 38 to 36 - all thier other stats are about tied, because niether one of them is all that good on defense (although, Cro brings more toughness in the paint)... He also isn't as likely to choke in the clutch - a big reason why we let KVH go...
I think we've upgraded the position from what we had last year (especially because George can play the 4 in a pinch), but I could still see Croshere being packaged into a trade [IF there's a trade...]

I think "Solid" is a good word here. Replacing KVH Croshere will come across as solid and more consistant.

...and that's all you have to do when you're backing up Dirk...

A serviceable backup behind Dirk who will do better than KVH did last year.

I honestly hope he's able to play close to 12 or 14 minutes to keep Dirk fresher for the playoffs.. and as long as he doesn't sink the boat during that time, I'll consider him a sufficient backup. I think we got a pretty good bargain on him, especially if we're able to/choose to re-sign him at a lower price.

I'm pretty sure dirk is going to play more than 34-36 minutes a game, and I really dont think avery will play them at the same time ever. Would be nice for him to be fresh though.

I expect him to stomp a mudhole in Bruce Bowen's punk ass.

Yep, and Croshere is the type of player who could actually get better on a team like Dallas (even though he's past his prime...)

He had a prime?
Expectations for Cro should be about:
- Won't fack it up
- Won't win games

Hehe - yeah, most role players don't really have a "prime", they just do that one thing they're hired to do better at a certain point in their career... Luckily, Croshere can still drive a bus...

A healthy dose of pure badassitude is coming to Dallas in the form of AC.
AC in the AAC will be a thing of beauty.
Since he has one less A than the AAC, I am hereby dubbing him A-, which will probably be his grade for the season.
Welcome to Dallas A-.

Sorry doc, can't go with you there. No one wants a "minus" in their nome de plume.
You might call him "square" as in square of AA, but that's not so hot either.
Can't call him killer, that one was "killed" by van horn.
AC- Alternating current might have possibilities. But hot and cold comes to mind. Lightning (nah), thunder maybe. If you extrapolate AC to electricity/lightining. We could have his face on thunder-mans body I guess, if we really want to insult him.
Ac - Actinium..Atomic Number 89...Unfortuntely here is a picture...Yuck.
AC - Air Conditioner ...Maybe something cooler or frosty or ice or something.
I think I'll have to watch him for a month or so and see what springs to mind during gdt's.

AC makes me think of air conditioner, so I agree with dude in saying something to do with that should me his nickname.

I think it's pretty clear but rough. Are you just saying he is going to be "a" "minus"?

There is no negative connotation here. The A- nickname has dual roots. First, AC is one A less than AAC so he is an A- there. Secondly, I think his grade at the end of the year will be a solid A-, which I think we can all agree would be fantastic.
A- for me and expect to see his badassitude on display soon.

Now bd is one I could go with. I know it's not BadAssitude, but it sounds better and I know what it is.

With the way the NBA is played these days, I think Croshere can actually blossom here. They never (and in my opinion will never under Carlysle) played the run and gun style. Every time that KVH clone played us, he just seemed to have a spark of energy. Plus, Damp will not be effective in a lot of games against smaller teams, so you can bet he will be an important piece and will be seen with Dirk and/or Diop many times.

Just like Kieth Van Horn, but with better defense and decision making.

Do we really plan on talking so much about Croshere this season that we have to come up with a nickname?
