51-35 denver.

B2B at denver is probably 80% denver. It's a load for sure. I had forgotten that patterson had gone there, he's also a handful.

55-41 at the half. Nuggets look in control and the Spurs are looking at another loss unless they come out as a different team in the 2nd half.

Parker is held in check... that's the key to beating the Spurs.
And Carmelo is playing great as of late.

Carmello's been playing great the whole season.

Nuggets are keeping Nazr and Duncan off the glass. Improved rebounding has been a big factor in SA's post all-star break play.

The Mavs need this loss from the hated Spurs... Destiny will be in the Mavs hands if they get this. Plus, I can see the Spurs losing 2-3 more games besides this one.

Ugh, the Nuggets were thoroughly dominated in the 3rd. Hopefully they'll stop taking so many bad shots in the 4th.

Nuggets are giving hard fouls every time a Spurs player goes inside. They're making them work for everything.

Nuggets up 7 with less than 5 minutes to go. I apologize for stating the obvious here, but Carmelo can friggin ball.

You have to question the decision by Pop to go with Finley down the stretch...Carmello was killing him.

BTW, Anybody know who was doing color for ESPN tonight. That voice didn't sound familiar but I thought he had some good insights.

It was Mussburger (sp?) and Tim Legler.

On another note, does anyone know what the deal was with the Nuggets' fans booing Ginobili everytime he touched the ball?

I think it's because of last year's playoffs. George Karl called him the best flopper in the game or something like that. They really hate him.

I think Pop was probably thinking since Melo was killing Bowen as well he might as well go with Finley since he can atleast hit free throws. I didn't understand that decision either. They just let Finley go head up with Carmelo. No help or anything.

Honestly, what difference would it have made? The Nuggets chewed the Spurs out and spit them up for their Rottweiler's lunch. I hope the Spurs have better in mind, if they want to contend.

The Spurs are going to find themselves in more than a spot of trouble, if they look as tired as they did tonight, when facing our Mavs in the second round of the playoffs this year. It's not hard for me to imagine that their old asterisk 'dynasty', as well as the dried-out, rotten house that such-said old and aging crew currently resides in, will be soon overdue to get smashed into rubble, kindling, and unsightly debris (adorned with various, haphazardly-strewn Franco/Virgin-Islander/Argentine corpses) in the second round of this year's playoffs by our fearsomely potent and underrated 'Us-Against-The-World-and-especially-the-effiminately-slavering-overrated-and-aged-Sp*rs' Mavs squad...

As a wise man named Nick Van Exel might have said, save the fact that he currently plays for the waning, asterisk-era Spurs: "F-the Sp*rs. They might have had some fun with their *ynasty, but they never really proved themselves against any real competition (see the Shaq-Kobe Lakers), and now, sadly, all of the hollow, asterisk-era fun and games are going to be put to a dreadfully abrubt end by long-blooded Hun bayonets and dirty, home-ground Cajun hunting knives; As a very tall German, and a very short, very angry Louisianan apply their well-tempered, horribly-honed steels to the vitals and innards of their old, familiar San Antonian foes, with lengthy, direful slashes, and deep, man-killing stabs..."

The Spurs' Asterisk-era dynasty will heave it's last, tired breath in this year's playoffs, and it will drown, sputtering under the sea-change of a cruel, rising Dallas Mavericks tide. Long live the Asterisk! The Asterisk is already dead....

That's just the thing though. Carmelo wasn't killing Bowen. Quite the opposite, in fact. Bowen effectively took him out of the game in the 3rd. Pop took Bowen out because he picked up two quick fouls, so I figured he was just saving him for the 4th. But then Carmelo lit Finley up, and Bowen never got off the bench. Just a bad decision by Pop.

Word. The Spurs are going down this year. I said this at the beginning of the season, and I still believe it now. They've won their last championship. It'll still probably be several years before they have to enter rebuilding mode, but their so-called dynasty has already ended.

That's what no one wants to talk about. Bowen was getting lit up too but Finley had no weak side help sliding over most the time. If they set a screen no one was jumping out either.

Finley came in at the 8:45 mark and Melo draws a foul at 8:37 (2ft's good). He does so again at the 7:28 (both ft's good). He hits a 18ft jumper at 6:54 and another 21ft jumper at 4:54. He misses a layup with 1:20 left but the game is already over.

8pts out of 32 total for Melo on 2-3 (fg), 4-4 (ft). Bowen guarded Melo most the night with the exception of a few spots when Finley and Barry had to cover him. He ended up shooting 13-23 with 32 points but it was only Finley who got lit up.

What impressed me most was the hard fouls Denver was giving. I don't want to see players get hurt but they didn't let the Spurs waltz inside and get anything easy. How many times did Parker end up on the ground? Nazr and Duncan were both poked/slapped in the eye and Ginobli went down hard on a foul by Martin.

Nothing will be easy in the West this year. It will be exciting in the West playoffs.

Good point. You simply must be willing to deliver the hard foul or the middle will be wide open.

Hard foul?? Hell yeah... especially on Parker. Just cut the head off this chicken and it'll be ready for slaughtering. 14 points, 6 assists and 3 TO's.

Just a bad decision by Pop.
Hell didn't Carmelo have 20 by the 3rd? I wasn't really keeping up with the game I was just sort of catching it while other shows were on commercial but it seemed Bowen made Carmelo work but it did nothing to prevent the outcome. I remember even the announcers were saying Pop is sitting Bowen to the 5 minute mark in the 4th quarter but he never came back in. Unless he was hurt I don't know if I understand Pop's decision there unless he was thinking offense and free throws.

I agree. Bowen had success on Melo when someone gave him help(ex. the Robert Horry block). Not sure why Pop would have Finley just go head up with Melo but Melo's a star. He's going to get his. I would've atleast made him beat us passing out the double team.

What I liked from the Nuggets is that its clear some calls didn't go their way. The Spurs got the referee treatment. What did the Nuggets do? They didn't bitch. Yea, they showed their frustration with the call but it didn't effect their play. That's something I see the Mavs do a lot. They get frustrated with a call and they let it effect their play. Stack and Dirk do this at times. I'd like to see them get out of that habit. Crying and bitching aren't going to overturn the call the refs made. Just keep playing and keep playing aggressive like the Nuggets did last night.

Melo had 16 in the first half. He had 4 points in the 3rd quarter, and I think two of those points were free throws. Bowen shut him down in the 3rd.
