Is there any (sane) reason why the Spurs wouldn't just rest their entire team to guarantee themselves a first-round match up with the Grizzlies, who will finish the season on a 2-9 or 1-10 streak?

I'm quite sure that Memphis is the easiest opponent you could wish for. Plagued by injuries, on a heavy losing streak and no match for SA's front court. And Pop is known for resting players. Not saying he will, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he rests all starters against us. And I rather play vs. OKC than against SA in the first round. LAC we won't get as I don't see Portland losing against Denver.

So assuming State curb stomps Memphis tonight, even if we lose (which we aren't) we're still finishing in 6th right?

Correct. We won the season series against Memphis 3-1 and own the tiebreaker.

SA faces Memphis if it loses to Dallas. But this could push us up to face LAC instead of OKC.
Portland faces OKC if it loses to Denver and Dallas wins.
Dallas faces OKC if it loses to SA and Memphis loses to Golden State.

But Memphis can avoid SA with a win over GS and a Dallas loss.

Mexican tank standoff!

Unfortunately, we tip off 2.5 hours before Portland and Memphis.
