Odom trade = worst trade in Mavericks history. This is the equalizer to the Chandler trade.

Ironic, considering that the Chandler trade exeption helped us get Odom...

Talk about a disaster. How does that trade keep finding ways to screw us over?

No Deron, no Nash, sooooooo...on to the young pups Dragic and Lin. If they miss out on these 2 then I cant wait to see them compete for a lottery pick!

I wish Dirk would make a stink or feign some sort of outrage to get something going. He's too nice of a guy though which is unfortunate in situations like these, Kobe would be in full bitch mode right now.

The only reasonable decision now is to keep the powder dry until the next trade window. Only pick-up Dragic/Lin for a short-term deal if possible.

I don't know, financial flexibility and Mark Cuban is something that I have to get used to. The big free agents are signing with the teams that are spending, not saving.
So far life after Deron is watching every free agent out there not sign with us because we won't/can't offer them enough money. But at least we get to maintain our financial flexibility. Meanwhile, Dirk is now a year older.

And we only got that trade exception because we traded for Chandler in the first place.
And we were able to trade for Chandler because we had Dampier's massive expiring contract on hand as a trade chip.
And we were able to sign Dampier to that big contract because Cuban refused to pay Nash in the summer of '04 and let him walk to Phoenix.
We've officially come full circle.

Ridiculous.
It was either re-sign the old team or go after Deron a super star. Why shouldn't Cubes try and go after another super star? No proof exists that re-signing 2011 Mav's would've been for the best neither is their proof for how well Dirk/Deron would've done together. What we did know is how over priced the guys from the 2011 would've been for us. You can say "at least lets re-sign Tyson" and that's not fair because while he was an awesome center for us he was not the sole reason we won the championship.
This is Dallas' first FA in the Cuban era and he went big, I have no problem with that. Sure we came up short, but what we did gain was experience for the future in case another situation arrives where we're hunting top FA's and we're able to look back on the past and saw what worked and what didn't in terms of presentation.
If people want to gripe about how we should've resigned Tyson and the 2011 Mav's they should create a separate thread for their bitching and stay out of the threads where those who are looking to the future post.

That is unknowable, they could have easily been better with more playing time together, a healthier Haywood and a better mahinmi. Your statement is opinion only and not based in fact.
If they had kept brewer/Hernandez in addition might they he been better? Would jjb not be better? I am almost positive that their offense could have been better with more time together.

You're not doing its craptacularness justice. We basically traded Steve Nash, Corey Brewer and a future first for Khloe Kardashian.

You can't prove a completely hypothetical dilemma. Seriously - the only way to find out was to do it, and that ship has sailed.

My Boston friend theorizes that now Dwight would sign an extension in LA and so Bynum could be shipped. That would be perfect, wouldn't it be, David Stern?
Davis/Rivers to your most recently purchased franchise.
DWill/JJ to your newly relocated franchise.
Nash/Dwight to your jewel franchise.
You, sir, are an evil genius.

One reason was that we didn't have a guy fast enough to at least put some pressure on that shot. We also didn't have anyone that we trusted behind us so that we could pressure him more. Harden just ate our lunch.

Dirk has played with great PG's, SG's and SF's over his career. There is only one season in his career that he's gotten to play with a Defensive Player of The Year caliber center. It resulted in a championship. It wasn't all one guy, you're right. But so far the evidence suggests that with the post-2006 Mavs, getting bounced early in the playoffs in the first round is the best they can hope for without a good center. Of course, now that's no longer relevant because JET is gone and MAYBE Kidd, Haywood and Roddy will be the only people Dirk will see next season from the championship team.

I keep seeing all this news about free agents getting offers from teams. With the exception of Deron, has Dallas even made an offer to a free agent? Our office has been really quiet. WTF?
Someone should tell them that if they wait too long, someone else is going to pay them instead.
Dirk is going to come back from Europe and Delonte West is going to be sitting there alone like "We got this man!" and the rest of the bench is going to be empty.

About half of the posts on this page at least are about this same topic. You don't want to comment about it, it's easy, don't.

Kidd is the starting PG this year.
NY has pretty much bought Nash
Deron's staying
Not high on Dragic
NY matches any offer for Lin
I mean, if we had to choose between Kidd and Allen Fcken Iverson, it's Kidd.
Kidd/Roddy
West/Carter
Marion/Carter
Dirk/Yi?
Signed center/Haywood
Yeah, I know it's sad. But it's the only logical way to go. The Mavs won't go super desperate this summer now that their top 2 options are gone, so Mark will probably look at the 2013 class.

He actually did turn down the offer with the most money (Toronto), so there is that.

We definitely need to get rid of Haywood/Shawn. THEN we'd have lots of financial flexibility! While we are at it, get rid of dojo, carter and roddy. Then we'd have dirks 20million, Brandon wrights 1million and lots of financial flexibility.
Just think what we could do with a payroll of 21million! The possibilities are endless. Talk about whistling past the grave.

Give me a break - you've turned every single thread on this site into the same discussion for the past 9 months...
You were right. Everyone else was wrong. You win. It's old... I get that you're mad at the front office, but you're taking it out on this forum. Can the rest of us talk about something else for once, please?
