TORONTO - The Toronto Raptors finalized their opening night roster Monday by releasing centers Hakeem Olajuwon and Stanley Roberts and placing guard Rick Brunson, forward Michael Bradley and center Eric Montross on the injured list.
Olajuwon announced his retirement last season due to a lower back injury and was kept on the IL. He was acquired from Houston for two draft picks on August 2, 2001 and signed a three-year contract.
In his only season with Toronto, the 14-time All-Star and NBA's all-time leader in blocked shots played 61 games and averaged a career-low 7.1 points. Olajuwon, 40, one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players, missed 21 games with a quadriceps and toe injury.
