Wang the trillion dollar player
Wang was practically omnipresent in the stifling Clippers defense. Here, his great gaping maw sucks the strength from a Nowitski layup

Wang the trillion dollar player
Wang was having a flashback from his Dallas Mavs days, playing defense just like Nellie taught him, out pressuring the perimeter from the Defensive Point Center position.

RE:Wang the trillion dollar player
With the excitement of the playoffs, and the Heat performing so well, everyone is wondering about Wang Zhi Zhi (come on, admit it.)
He's his old, incredible self - shooting an amazing 60% FG% for the month leading into the playoffs.
On the down-side, he had a per48 rebounding average of 0.

C'mon, you know those per48 minute numbers mean nothing, they're highly inflated, give me his real stats, not this per 48 minute crap!

I wonder if the Mavs called Wang-Wang sometime over the last few weeks. Perhaps the pride of that old 3-point shooting specialist kept him from returning to his original NBA port of call...

My prediction for 2006: After China and America become allies following the quelling of the insurgence in North Korea, we will cooperate with China in extraditing all Chinese political figures taking exile in America. The INS will swoop down on Wang's Los Angeles restaurant "Dodger's egg foo yung" and arrest him while he schmoozes with adoring customers. After two quiet years with Wang being out of the league, Wang supporters will resurface in a protest march on Washington. One sign, carried by 12 year old Japanese kid will read "Free Wang, the next Dirk Nowitzki".
President George Bush, in his second term as US president, issues this announcement: "With the help of China, we have located and arrested all threats to the Chinese, American global alliance... including the failed basketball star Wang Zhi Zhi. The world is now a safer place."
When interviewed about Wang, Don Nelson, who's Maverick team has won three straigt NBA Championships, simply chuckes.
Donald Sterling, who's Clippers were banned by Chinese television and who had been in the lottery ten consecutive years, decides to sell the team to a group of Chinese businessmen, relocating the team to Beijing. The "Beijing Dragons" will be made up entirely of Chinese basketball players. In 2007, they will set the record for most losses in an NBA season. In 2008, the team will be sold back to an investement group in Dallas... which will make Dallas the third city in
America to support NBA two eams.

That was quite accurate, looking back now. Except for the championships, you predicted them 3 years too early.

It looks like the traitorous, back-stabbing Wang wants the country he abandoned to take him back. I guess the last few years have been quite humbling for the widlely trumpeted next coming of Dirk Nowitzi:

Wang wants spot on Chinese national team
Associated Press
BEIJING -- Miami Heat center Wang Zhizhi returned to China on Monday and apologized for his earlier refusal to join the Chinese National Team. The move by Wang could pave the way for him playing in the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics for China.
The first mainland Chinese player in the NBA, Wang upset the basketball association by refusing to return for national team duties following his 2001-2002 rookie season. Since then, his fame in China has been eclipsed by Houston Rockets center Yao Ming, who has diligently showed up for national duties, including leading China to an eighth-place finish at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
"I realized I had made a big mistake," Wang said, according to the official Xinhua News Agency. "I want to say sorry to my fans and to the Bayi team, which trained me and gave me the chance to play in the NBA." Wang played with the Bayi Rockets military team before joining the NBA. He was expelled from the Chinese national squad after he refused to come back for the Asian Games in Busan, South Korea, in October, 2002.
"I was too young to make the right decision," Wang said. "I hope I could make up my fault this time and win back my place in the national team." "It's a crucial move for him to return in an answer to the motherland's call," the Chinese Basketball Association said in a statement reported by Xinhua.
Whether Wang is allowed back on the national squad will depend on his "mental and physical conditions" the statement said, without giving specifics.
----------------------------------------
If China has any dignity, they'd make like the Mavericks and tell this slimeball to go screw himself.

Wang Zhizhi dominates on CBA return
font size ZoomIn ZoomOut
Once reviled for turning his back on China, former NBA center Wang Zhizhi is dominating the domestic league with a run of play that bodes well for Chinese Olympic hopes and his own return to the NBA.
Wang scored 43 points and ripped down 14 rebounds to power his first-place Bayi Rockets to the team's 18th consecutive victory on Sunday.
The 101-97 win over third-place Jiangsu Nangang moved the club into a first-place tie with three-time league champion Guangdong Tigers.
Since returning home last year from a four-year stint in the US, Wang, dubbed "Big Zhi" by Chinese media, has become a pivotal player in China's drive for a medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics - a goal that, if fulfilled, could get him another shot at the NBA.
At the 2006 World Basketball Championships in Japan, Wang teamed with Houston Rockets All-Star Yao Ming to help China advance to the second round. Without Yao, he led the team to gold in Doha Asian Games.
"Wang is so talented you cannot believe it," national team coach Jonas Kazlauskas said after the Asian Games.
"In my coaching career there have been just a couple of players with bigger talent than him."
By dominating the domestic league and helping China to better results in international competition, Wang could soon be in position for a return to the world's top league, where he played for the Dallas Mavericks, Los Angeles Clippers and current NBA champions Miami Heat.
"It's in his hands. If he wants to, he can make it," Kazlauskas said.
Before departing to the NBA in 2001 - and being kicked off China's national team for refusing to return to national duty - Wang had helped Bayi, an army-run team which plays in Ningbo, to six consecutive CBA championships.
His departure opened the way for Yao Ming and the Shanghai Sharks to become the first team to dethrone the army team as league champions.
Now back in the CBA, the 29-year-old Wang is striving to help Bayi regain their former dominance. He is averaging 27.6 points and 9.4 rebounds this season, both career highs.
"I agree with Jonas's view," Bayi coach Adi Jiang said about Wang's NBA prospects.
"I hope Wang Zhizhi can continue to raise his level and help our team more.
"Since he came back, every game he has played he has helped us a lot. More important he came back and quickly meshed with the team."
Wang is now on a collision course to meet up in the CBA finals with reiging champions Guangdong, who boast five national team players including 19-year old center Yi Jianlian - likely to be a high pick in the June NBA draft.
The two teams each boast 21 wins with just four losses and have split two games between them this season.
Although the two centers were evenly matched in those two games, Wang has easily taken the lion's share of headlines in China's basketball-crazy sports press, while coaches and players universally praise his play.
"Wang Zhizhi brings a lot of positives, he has become a focus of the fans, he has contributed a lot to the league and to the national team, especially at the Asian Games," Beijing Ducks coach Min Lulei said after a 112-89 loss to Bayi on Friday.
"I think that Wang Zhizhi's returning to China was a very wise choice for him and for the national team. It is all very positive ... except that we can't figure out how to stop him."

Basketball: Bayi Rockets win China championships
BEIJING : Former NBA centre Wang Zhizhi led the Bayi Rockets to the 2007 China Basketball Championships on Wednesday, dethroning three-time defending champs Guangdong Tigers 88-83.
Wang scored nine of his 21 points in a tightly fought fourth quarter to seal the victory for Bayi, which won the seven-game-series four games to one - including three victories on Guangdong's home court.
The seven-foot (2.12 metre) Wang also got help from veteran small forward Zhang Jingsong, who chipped in 18 points for the winners, including hitting five of six three pointers.
The championship series has been billed as a match up between Wang and Guangdong's up and coming power forward Yi Jianlian, who is expected to be chosen by a team in the world's top league in the June NBA draft.
The seven-foot 20-year-old Yi was outplayed by Wang throughout the series, but has led his team in scoring and rebounding and on Wednesday ended up with 22 points and nine boards.
Bayi jumped out to a 15-6 lead midway through the first quarter behind a barrage of three point shots and stayed in front until two minutes left in the third quarter when a lay-in by forward Du Feng gave Guangdong a 59-58 lead.
But Bayi came storming back taking a nine point lead with just over two minutes to go in the game before Guangdong cut the lead to 85-83 with 55 seconds left behind four points by Yi and a three-pointer by forward Zhu Fangyu.
Guangdong had a chance to go ahead but American import Terrance Green turned over the ball with 18 seconds left, as Bayi finished the scoring from the free throw line.
Wang won six CBA championships before embarking on a four-year stint in the NBA, where he saw limited playing time for Dallas, the Los Angeles Clippers and the Miami Heat.
Since returning to China he helped the national side into the second round of last year's World Basketball Championships, while anchoring the team to a gold medal in December's Asian Games. - AFP/de

There you have it. The solution to all of the Mavs problems right now. Simply reaquire Wang and we´ll be totally unstoppable. He´s a proven CBA superstar-veteran. He knows how to win championships. And he won´t choke like Dirk allways does. Like coach says: it´s in his (Wang´s) hands, if he wants to he can dominate the world.
