Dang it, are they going to stop Barbossa? The Lakers are letting him run all over them.

I'm rooting for the Lakers, although I know the Spurs will crush the Nuggets and Phoenix vs San Antonio would be a very grueling series (working to our advantage)... I just can't root for the Suns. They got such a steal signing Barbosa for so little (but Diaw was a bust...).

Coach K is cheering for Phoenix. Good, even more reason for me to hate Phoenix.

My guess: Kobe for 50+ points, Lakers still lose...

Although I expect the Suns to win the series and I'd even like to see a SA/PHX semi-finals, I can't bring myself to actually root for them.

I'm rooting for the Lakers, even though I hate them.

Jeez - the Lakers are 18% shooting so far in the fourth...

Well it is 5 on 1... maybe the Lakers should go to someone else other than Kobe. He's not getting anything to go down now.

13% shooting with 4:00 left in the fourth! (no doubt Phoenix's "defense" will get credit for this...)

The thing the separates the top teams in the playoffs and bottom tier teams is consistent play. Lakers have had some stretches of solid play. But this fourth quarter is a prime example of why they are a 7th seed team.

Always the problem with one man teams.
Odom is over 50% but doesn't get a shot.
Walton is over 50% but doesn't get a shot.

Kobe is trying to do way to much on his own.

Barbosa turns around so many Suns games. The opponents relax late in the third or early in the fourth when Nash in on the bench, and Barbosa runs all over them.

Kobe forcing shot after shot after shot.
This is why his big scoring games aren't as impressive, he shoots so much.

Kobe 1 for his last 12, yet still forcing fadeaways over 2 defenders.

Kobe was responsible for a big part of the Lakers success in the first half.
He also bears the most responsibility for their failures in the second half.

Exactly, well said. And that's why the Lakers have no chance in this series. No chemistry and too many forced shots.

Lakers were 19% shooting for 10 points in the fourth... Friggin' pathetic!

Didn't San Antonio draft Barbosa and trade him to the Suns for a future pick or something? Big draft mistake.

is it me...or is this like a replay of all their games? Lakers come out strong...Suns storm back in the third to bring it close..and then blitz in the end

Kobe going 1-12 didn't help much.

Pretty typical..you have a one-man team and that one-man just can't beat good teams by himself. It has always been so.

Why is that San Antonio owns the Suns and Warriors, yet those teams make us look old? At least we own the Spurs.

We own the Suns pretty good too and we're going to put an end to that Warriors myth starting today.

Because they have one of if not the best offensive force inside with duncan. We have the personnel to handle duncan inside and the pace to do so as well.
The suns/warriors cannot defend inside and that exposes their style. If dampier was any kind of threat, we'd beat them to death.

This series won't by nearly as good as it was last year. This one will be over in 4 or 5.

Considering Leandro Barbosa and Josh Howard went 28-29 in that draft, do you think there are a lot of teams in the league wanting a do-over?

do you guys see what d'antoni said about the lakers, and how he mentioned almost all the starting lakers..saying they were basically all garbage?
that would piss me off to no end.
what an a-hole.

He was responding to how everyone says that Suns are bad defensively and was pointing out how he feels the Lakers are no better. It was pretty out of line the way he phrased it, but I don't think the intent was as bad as it sounded.

D'Antoni is an ass, but he's right... Although the Suns' defense sucks nuts - 5 on 1 zone is an easy scheme, plus the Kobe shot them out of the game...

Kobe's shooting at a pretty good clip, most of the time he makes about half of those shots so the Lakers should have been ok but I totally agree that Kobe shot them out of the game. I don't mind Kobe taking all those shots it's just his shot selection that drives me crazy. He took some of the worse shots I've seen all season, forcing it up with two defenders in his face or in some major traffic. Just horrid decision making on Kobe's part, I'd like to see some of the other Lakers take open shots, make or miss, than see what Kobe was doing in the 4th.

Lakers seem overmatched. This will suck if Dallas goes 7 games, and Phoenix is the one sitting-pretty after a 1st round sweep.
