Dirk misses out again. How many times has he been nominated?

Cs Wallace, O'Neal named NBA Players of Week
February 25, 2002

NEW YORK (TICKER) -- Centers Ben Wallace of the Detroit Pistons and Shaquille O'Neal of the Los Angeles Lakers were named NBA Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week on Monday.

Wallace, who edged New Jersey guard Jason Kidd for the honor, led the Pistons to a 3-1 week, averaging 11.0 points, 13.8 rebounds and 6.0 blocks. On Sunday, he recorded his first career triple-double with 10 points, 17 rebounds and a career-high and franchise-record 10 blocks in an 89-82 loss at Milwaukee.

O'Neal returned from a stint on the injured list and led the Lakers to three wins in four games, averaging 29.3 points and 10.8 rebounds. He capped the week with 30 points and 15 rebounds in Sunday's 107-91 victory over the New York Knicks.

Other Eastern Conference candidates were Charlotte's Baron Davis, Chicago's Jalen Rose, Miami's Rod Strickland, Milwaukee's Ray Allen and Philadelphia's Allen Iverson.

Also considered in the Western Conference were Dallas' Dirk Nowitzki, Houston's Cuttino Mobley and Phoenix's Stephon Marbury.

It seems Dirk just misses it every week. He will throw out on subpar game which probably costs him the award. Still not bad stats for the week though

22 points... 16.5 rebounds... 4.8 Assists... 1 Steal... 1.75 Blocks. Take out the one stinker and my goodness do the stats look gaudy

26.3 points... 18 rebounds... 4.7 Assists...1. Steal... 2 blocks

Yeah, Dirk won it this year Murph.

It just seems he's been nominated quite a bit.

I think he won it last month.

He could be every week's best player! But he really was better than Shaq last week, wasn't he?
