An Ad Campaign Asserts a Bush-Nader Alliance
By MARK GLASSMAN
Published: August 24, 2004
ASHINGTON, Aug. 23 - A new advertising campaign satirizing the Republican financial support of Ralph Nader's independent campaign for the presidency sums up the effort this way: Bush-Nader '04.
In a 60-second television advertisement that begins running on Tuesday an announcer alludes to an unlikely partnership between Mr. Bush, the conservative incumbent, and Mr. Nader, the long shot who has made a career out of championing liberal causes. The advertisement displays state by state where Republican groups have supported Mr. Nader.

"Republicans are helping Nader get on the ballot in Oregon, Nevada, Michigan, Iowa, New Hampshire, New Mexico, even Florida," an announcer says. "Why? Because the right wing believes that helping Ralph Nader helps George Bush."
The advertisement is sponsored by TheNaderFactor.com, a liberal group seeking to prevent the re-election of President Bush.Chris Kofinis, a senior adviser to the group, said the goal of the advertisement was to discourage Mr. Nader from accepting money and help from Republicans in qualifying for ballots.
"We're talking about organized Republican operatives," Mr. Kofinis said. "They're not doing it nonbattleground states."
The advertisement concludes with a blue italicized Bush-Nader logo, a parody of the Bush-Cheney logo. The advertisement is tongue-in-cheek, Mr. Kofinis said, "but the message of the ad is that Republicans are helping Nader, and Nader is not disavowing that help."
The commercial cost $5,000 to produce, and the TheNaderFactor .com is spending an additional $20,000 to run it dozens of times this week in New Mexico and Wisconsin, where Mr. Nader won a significant number of votes in 2000. His deadline for submittting the necessary number of signatures for getting on the ballot in those states is Sept. 7.
Polls suggest Mr. Nader could get at least 2 percent to 3 percent of the vote in a dozen swing states.
"He is now at a point where his entire legacy may come down to him helping Bush stay in office for another four years and him cooperating with the right-wing groups that he's opposed," Mr. Kofinis said.

Kerry should condemn this and any other 527 or rightfully be labeled a hypocrit. This is much less of an election issue that Kerry's Vietnam service, which Kerry personally and through his campaign brought up numerous occasions at the DNC. Kerry is a liar, a coward, and a hypocrit. That's not the trifecta that I'm looking for in a Presidential candidate.

Let 'em rant. They already look like mama's boys, crying to everyone to "please george, make 'em stop".

How can a Potential leader of the strongest nation on the earth be such a Wuss. Did Bush ever whine when Kerry, Mikey Moore and Clintons Money Bag DNC chairman called Bush a draft dodger and AWOL. He took the abuse like a man and made available all the records he could get his hands on to disprove the charges.
I guess he will treaten Iran, Syria and N. Korea with Lawyers and the cry for his mommy the UN, the axis of Evil should be really be shaking in their boots.

Well when you have no core, when you can both be a war hero and at the same time call all of your "band of brothers' animals, muderers, etc. Not much substance there buddy..

So how pathetic and hypocritical is it of the DNC and kerry to even MENTION bush and 527s in the same sentence. From the DNC website.
Quote:
The Democratic Party is partnering with MoveOn.org, People for the American Way, Campaign for America's Future, and dozens of other groups representing millions of Americans to organize a massive public mobilization. On Wednesday, May 14, join us by calling and emailing your representatives in Congress to let them know that the majority of Americans oppose more irresponsible tax cuts that go overwhelmingly to the wealthiest sliver of Americans.

Wait a minute isn't it illegal for the DNC to partner with 527's?? How the hell can they put that on their web site and get away with it????

The dems definitely look like their in deep denial about their gross neglect of the law. It's pathetic that Kerry would even think to open his mouth about Bush being in collusion with 527's when the DNC site actively advertizes that the Dems are illegally working with several. I didn't think that I could have a lower opinion of the Democratic party and John Kerry, but I was wrong on that count.

RE: Are 527's ads right only if they help the Democracts?
So let me get this straight. Mediafund.org has 17million in anti-bush ads, ACT which has 95Million. Harold Ickes is a key official in both. Ex clinton aide Harold Ickes is the key administrator.
As britt hume said tonight, has the vaunted media who is so interested in fact-checking the swifties, fact-checked any of the roberto duran comments of kerry.
