Chris Bosh moving mid season??
http://proxy.espn.go.com/nba/dailydi...ckets-woo-bosh
a bit from the piece:
Quote:

ESPN.com
BOISE, Idaho -- Here are the best (and last) dribbles of chatter from the NBA grapevine as collected from various executives, scouts and insiders who gathered to watch 16 teams play two games each in a four-day span at the annual D-League Showcase:
Some 40 days from the league's annual trading deadline, no one in Boise could say with any certainty that the Toronto Raptors are going to be willing to move Chris Bosh ahead of the Feb. 18 trade buzzer.
No one has a firm read on Toronto's intentions yet.
What we did hear, though, is that the Houston Rockets have made it known that they would be willing to trade for Bosh immediately … even if they don't get a guarantee they can re-sign him this summer.
That's the problem with any sort of Bosh deal at midseason. Even if the Raps do decide they want to make Bosh available now and avoid the threat of losing him without compensation in free agency after July 1, there's an overwhelming majority of teams that wouldn't dare consider trading for Bosh in February without some sort of assurance they could keep him.
But Houston is different.
Sources say the ever-aggressive Rockets are sure a half-season in Houston could convince the native Texan to pledge his long-term future to a city players love as well as a team that sits four games over .500 without the injured Yao Ming and the exiled Tracy McGrady. The Rockets also have the requisite stash of young assets, as evidenced by their success this season without marquee names, to assemble a legit deal for Toronto to consider … and without insisting that McGrady's mammoth $22.5 million salary has to be part of it.
You figure Chicago, Miami and New York also are on the short list of teams that would be willing to risk trading for Bosh before we get to the summer. Those are the teams thought to have the best shot at signing him in free agency and could inherit Bosh's Larry Bird rights with a deal before the deadline. None of them, though, can offer a better talent deal than Houston. The Heat and Knicks -- with their heavily stripped-down rosters as the countdown continues to July 1 -- can't come close.
The Raps recently have inched back to .500, just got point guard Jose Calderon back from a hip injury and still expect bruising forward Reggie Evans to start playing in the second half of the season after recovering from a foot problem to provide some needed toughness. So there's a good case for Toronto to put off any major decisions

That could be the worst thing that could happen, Bosh in Houston. Here's where a good will gesture that Cuban did with Toronto in the Marion-Hedo sign and trade can kick in.

Can you imagine a two-headed monster of Yao and Bosh? Yikes. We need Bosh. I hope Cuban is trying.

Isn't Bosh about the same answer that Boozer is at someones center position?

I think either brings something we don't have at that position. Bosh will help us spread the floor allowing slashers and penetraters better access to lanes. Boozer is a low post grinder, great for the playoffs in half court games, banging down low. The great thing about either of them it will help us relieve some of the offensive burden from jet and Dirk. Bosh is great with out the ball, finding open spots. Boozer is great with the ball back to the basket.

If he moves now it's highly unlikely we land him. Damp is just an expiring right now not DUST chip until end of season, so if we trade him we aren't getting him back because he's not being cut. Low incentive for the other team to take Damp, low incentive for us to trade Damp.

Rockets has nothing big to offer.
Toronto doesnt need Brooks and they dont need an undersized PF like Landry. They should go for a strong SG or a Center so they can move Bargnani finally to PF...

Yeah, the Rockets have nothing big to offer. Brooks, Landry, Scola, Lowry, Battier, Ariza, etc., aren't big pieces.
A Scola + Battier or Ariza + Cook + Houston 1st trade for Bosh could work. Don't know where Toronto will find a better deal. Houston could throw in Lowry, too, and maybe Houston gets back Calderon or Jack in return for him. Doubt Toronto will find a better deal elsewhere. They can watch Bosh come back to America this summer instead and come out empty handed.

You'd be surprised. So many NBA players are in Houston during the offseason.

You dont get it. Houston has nothing Raps really need in their roster. They dont need Brooks (and he is anyway overrated) and they dont need Landry. They need a SG or a center. Yeah Landry is good and young, but thats nothing "wow we have to do it". They can get such stuff in a S&T next summer too and can retain still the hope right now that Bosh maybe stays.
You dont trade Bosh right now for SUCH things.

The other deal I've seen (new article on ESPN Insider today) is a Hinrich + Tyrus Thomas + pick for Bosh. I think the Houston deal is better, especially if they include Landry instead of Scola.

I don't get it?
Why would a team sign and trade for Bosh this summer when they could just sign Bosh instead, without giving up anything? The Raptors should take anything (reasonable) that comes to them, because they will end of with nothing this summer.
You give them Scola, and he can still help them out this year. Plus, Scola adds to that "International Team" that they are building in Toronto. Then, Battier or Ariza. Battier would be that defensive specialist that Toronto needs. Ariza the same way, just younger. Then, Cook will be the expiring contract crap throw in, that will help Toronto financially. Lastly, that first round pick for more talent. I would throw in Lowry to the Scola/Battier/Cook/Pick deal, too (if needed).
Also, even with Toronto winning a little more now, I think Bosh would still want to leave. That Toronto team is stuck in mediocrity. They don't really have a strong young core, plus they have to go against the Celtics, Magic, and Cavs.
All just speculation, but it is interesting.

Boozer is built like Damp. Bosh is too skinny to play center.
Bosh- 230
Boozer- 266
Damp- 265

Vecsey says : Lakers to offer Bynum for Bosh
Quote:
A Lakers source told me the team had its sights set high, as usual, and planned to target the possible acquisition of Chris Bosh when it got closer to the 3 p.m. Feb. 18 trade deadline, and the Raptors might be more likely to move their Olympian/All-Star while still entitled to compensation.
It commonly is believed Bosh almost certain is to flee Toronto after this season, when he has the right to opt out of the final year ($17.1 million) of his contract.
My source believes the Lakers will offer Andrew Bynum for Bosh (if they haven’t done so already) well before the deadline expires. In itself, the one-for-one swap is impossible to make. Bynum’s “base year” essentially allows L.A. to take back but half of his salary this year ($12.5M). Of course, that restriction is lifted when next year’s salary ($13.7M) activates come July 1, at which time a sign-and-trade transaction would be feasible.
Asked by e-mail about all of the above and whether the Raptors and Lakers have discussed a Bosh-Bynum proposal, team president Bryan Colangelo, who surely is being contacted on a daily basis regarding the availability of his franchise player — especially when the team was 11-17 — he replied in kind:
“For the record, I am not actively seeking a deal or discussing Bosh with any team, much less the Lakers.
“I haven’t traded him yet and our position has been the same. We will not make a deal just to make a deal. Our intention is to keep him here long term.
“Additionally, I have not yet offered an extension as Dwyane Wade and LeBron James both received [from their respective teams]. So technically he has not said no.
“I honestly don’t think C.B. knows what the future holds, or what he wants to do, so I would say we’re still in the game as far as his pending free agency.”

I hate to believe anything vecsey says personally but if there's any truth to this? The west just got tougher, theoreticaly.

I doubt that trade happens. The Lakers will have to give up some pieces, and not just crap ones, to get Bosh because of Bynum's BYC.
