GDT Mavs at Warriors Game 1
Mavs have not won a game 1 and also won the series since 2011.
Let's go, Mavs!

Let's go Mavs. Keep us rolling EL.
I hope we see scrambling, stiffling defense like game 7.

It is so cool to have the entire country talking about the Mavs, and thanks to the way they blew the Suns out, no one knows what to think.
Pretty much everyone is predicting a Warriors win. But then, back in 2011, virtually no one expected the Mavs to win any of the series. Once again, we have one superstar and a bunch of guys who know their role and play as a team. Every team they have faced had more talent and more all stars. But a great team can beat a collection of great talent. Just ask LeBron. He recently called the 2011 Finals the lowest point in his career.
Here's to hoping that Steph is saying the same thing about 2022. and soon.

We were definitely favored in 2011 over the Blazers and Thunder. We all know what an all-time upset the Finals was though. However, for me at that time, the way we utterly destroyed the reigning two-time defending champion Lakers was far more shocking, and that's when I knew the Mavs had a real shot at the title. 4 game sweep, 40 point blowout in game 4.
So yeah the 2011 comparisons are fair. We pulled off a shocking upset against the heavy championship favorite, utterly destroyed and humiliated them on their homecourt. And the Warriors team that stands in our way is good, but nowhere near the juggernaut Warriors teams of yesteryear.
Make no mistake, the Mavs have a very realistic chance to win the championship. We may not be favorites, but we shouldn't be that heavy underdogs either. The four teams left in the field are pretty evenly matched IMO. We're right in the mix.
But you know what we have that the other three teams don't? The best player left in the playoffs by FAR.

Not to disrespect Golden St but I think this series in terms of matchups is a better fit for Dallas.
They could realistically end this series in 5 games or less which would shock most people but not me based on how they fared with the Warriors this year.
They don't have a big center and IMO that opens up a few more options for Dallas now if the Mavs play smart and not get seduced into a 3-point shootout.
I think Frank seems like a good matchup for Poole off the bench he might be our best bet to stay in front of him.
If I'm Kidd I think the matchups might look this way to start out.
Bullock on Curry
DFS on Wiggins
Luka on Klay (Klay isn't a guy who can beat you at this stage of his career off the dribble so Luka should be fine)
Powell on Looney
Brunson on Draymond
I think you could also see Luka slide over to Green when Kleber enters the game and it wouldn't surprise me if Kleber spends time defending Wiggins while DFS slides over to Klay when the Warriors go there death lineup.

Powell with the hustle play! I think he’s much more effective this series not going against giants.

I thought the same thing about him
But he's got to box someone out on defense.
Seems like any big kills us on the offensive glass

Dinwiddie needs to drive on Curry. They don’t have a shot blocker on the floor.

Going to need to change it up and start taking 2s. 3 ball isn’t falling early.

That's why I was afraid the Mavs would get seduced into taking 3's

Need to drive and play inside out. We are too inconsistent shooting 3's.

Spencer needs to shoot that. What in the world is he doing there with little time on the clock.

19 3s taken in 1 quarter. That has to be close to a record.

Can't say I'm surprised they hoisted so many 3's
Dinwiddie attacked the rim just once and scored then decided to go back to launching a 3
Luka had very touches in the post which is mind boggling
Bertans and Powell you'd think would play better in this matchup but I guess no one is a good matchup for those two on defense.
It's early so hopefully the Mavs figure it out (attack the paint)

Considering how piss poor they are shooting to only be down 8 is a pretty good sign.

I’m surprised they have kept at it still. At some point you just need to change it up and stick to driving and mid range. Bertans and Powell I figured would be hit or miss.

Shouldn’t that have been a shot clock violation?
