GDT game 8 Raps (5-3) at Mavs (4-3)
Raps have been real good. Last game they blew out the Spurs by 43.
Sucking for 75-80% of the game may not cut it against a stronger team like the Raptors

Better Coach?
Kidd or Nurse?
And this info from Bobby Karalla@bobbykaralla
More than 22 percent of the Raptors' total points this season have come on the fast break. That's the most in the league by miles and miles and miles. They force a lot of live-ball turnovers and they punish you. Ball security will be extreeemely important tonight.
This from Chuck Cooperstein@coopmavs
All about holding on to the ball/ limiting transition for Mavs tonight vs TOR. Raps avg 10.8 steals which, if sustained would be the most since 98-99. Those steals often lead to FB pts. TOR has 25.6, 7 more than 2nd place Lakers, & the difference between #2-27. h/t

Josh Green is thriving in limited playing time this season for the Mavericks.
While his stats through 7 GP aren?t overwhelming:
5.1 PPG
2.6 REB
64.7% FG
58.3% 3PT
He leads the league in net rating:
121.0 ORTG
90.9 DRTG
30.1 NETRTG
Impressive improvement for the 21 year old.
*edit* by me - sample size!

from Iztok Franko@iztok_franko
As Bobby K pointed out the Raptors are the best transition team by far. So, like against Memphis the key for Dallas will be to control place, low-turnovers and keep it in half-court.
DAL is 2nd in half-court offense, TOR is 24th
DAL is 5th in half-court shot quality, TOR is 26th

With Toronto starting Siakim at center, this would be a good game to start Powell. He'd give the Mavs a much better chance to defend the fast break. Three of Toronto's wins came against big, slow centers, Embid, Poeltl and Bam. No need to start off in a hole, just to keep the starting lineup intact.

Green is only 21?
Maybe reports of his demise are overstated.
He's only a few months older than Banchero and a lot of the top 10 picks.

The lazy defense combined with careless passing that we like to do for three quarters will not bode well for us.

Good matchup tonight at AAC between the Mavs and Raptors.
Luka Dončić and Pascal Siakam are 2 of the 4 players this season avg
at least 25P/8R/5A and 2 of the 3 players with multiple triple-doubles this season
(both have 2, Jokic has 3).

Fairly close. Kidd made up some ground last year, but still Nurse IMO.

i'm down on him too but i think having him along with DFS and Green... it's good to have a stable of 3&D guys to throw out there. I hope his shooting picks up
our only other option would be Frank and i'm not ready to trust him yet.

Yeah, Green needs to start over Bullock until Reggie heats up second half of the season.

Don't care about fancy wins as long as you win them. Raptors are a good team and Mavs played well.

Luka 35 points on 15 shots...
Josh Green now shooting 65/58/58... small sample size still but sheesh.
Bullock - how was his D? his offense is still terrible... 1-7 FG, 0-5 3pt, but 3 steals and block, +12
Mavs continue to lose the rebounding battle...

Wood was NOT happy to be pulled with over 7 mins left. Putting in Powell was 100% the right move but Maxi needed to come out, not Wood. Jfc.
Bullock is being thoroughly outplayed and out hustled by Josh and its not even close. I would have already swapped their roles. If you come on later in the season then great...but we can't wait for you to come riding in on your 1 trick pony mid season. 7th man type dude at this point.
Powell was incredible. He knows this system and isn't being asked to play a huge role and as we have seen before, he does this role well.
Josh has definitely turned the corner. You can see all the work he put in during the offseason and certainly working with Kyle Lowry has helped.
Luka is playing like an MVP and showing no signs of slowing down our fatigue. Seems like there's a difference in his endurance.

I still feel like I'm the only one that isn't hating on THJ. Remember he is coming back from a foot injury which if you ask Devin Harris are notoriously difficult to come back from.
I just feel like he is participating more in team play knowing his shots aren't falling. And those two threes were still necessary to win the game. 3 assists was behind only Luka and Spencer so he did his bench ball handling duties to his low standards ability.
I mean obviously, if that shot doesn't start falling, then it won't matter. But for now, I find his time on the court inoffensive when twitter fans tear him to shreds. There is just no way you're just going to sit a guy making 20 million a year.

I would trade Bull. Try to get a 1st. Give his minutes to Green/ Maxi. Give Maxi's minutes to Wood.

YOU DONT TRADE A VETERAN DEFENDER WHO SHOOTS 40% IN THE PLAYOFFS BECAUSE HE STARTS THE YEAR SHOOTING 34%
You absolutely find more time for Green, but Green was so bad under pressure the last two years that he was essentially unplayable.

Mavs NBA:
1) Refs screw us on calls.
2) Players complain
3) Refs call us "bitch ass motherfucker"
4) NBA "oh you"
5) Go back to #1
Spencer Dinwiddie says referee Tony Brothers referred to him as a ?bitch ass motherf?er? to a Mavs teammate after calling Dinwiddie for a technical foul.

GREAT veteran defenders, you probably don't trade. He's not great, he's just a veteran defender right now. I'm fine with Reggie being here for now, but I'm all for giving Green way more of his mins.
The FO isn't moving off him no matter what so its a moot point.

Nice short vid by Iztok showing Luka breaking down various defenses the raptors threw at him. His ?attack? of box and one was particularly fun 🙂
