Sounds like we'll know what's up with Jordan in the next day or two...

I do see that front office communication is a lot better than last big free agents past years.

@espn_macmahon: Mavs likely to try to get Wes Matthews deal done before DeAndre Jordan's decision. Believe it could help sway DJ to Dallas.

I have a very strong feeling Jordan is coming to the Mavs. It just feels like it.

Be curious to know what T. Chandler's price tag is. I'm guessing pretty high at 13-15 mil a year?

33 this summer...probably 3/40 or 3/45 from a really desperate team (Lakers)

Honestly, I can't believe how many mid-tier FAs have signed contracts before the top-tier FAs have... We're not even 24 hours into free agency, and it's already gotten to the point where our offseason is going to be a complete bust if we don't land Jordan -- the Plan Bs have pretty much dried up.

Plan B without Jordan is probably a mix of R. Lopez/G.Green/trading Felton for Lawson using cap etc

If we don't land Jordan Chandler's price tag probably goes up. He can use that as leverage.

If you are DeAndre Jordan, why would you sign with the Mavs now?

Um, the "plan" hasn't changed. If Matthews and DeAndre sign then we have a great offseason.
Obviously, Tyson would have been gone anyways if DeAndre came, and Aminu we were never going to be able to afford. Looks like Matthews was coveted over Green as well anyways.
So - If Matthews signs elsewhere today then, yeah, I see chances of DeAndre signing much less.

Why not...what has changed???
Wes Matthews and Jordan would be nice building blocks along with Parsons, Powell and Anderson. And along with Dirk we'd be competitive.

You think maybe with the Deandre meeting still going on (I presume), Tyson got a great offer from the Suns, he tried to call the Mavs FO to discuss, but they were too busy with the meeting to respond. Then, Tyson just says, "screw these guys."
I'm a little stunned that Tyson would go ahead and make this decision already. Maybe the thought that there was more chance that Aldridge would also sign along with him with the Suns, than with the Mavs.

Well I think that news on Tyson might be a good sign regarding DJ.. I can not imagine Cuban letting Tyson leave without being quite sure about signing Jordan

If Jordan stays in LA talk about another whiff on big FA per the usual. I'm not so sure on Wes Matthews either. 12 is as high as I go because that leaves no money to fill in the rest of the team.

I don't know that it's a great off season regardless of whether the Mavs get those two. The team may still take a step back on the court.

Mark Cuban needs to stop being cheap and pay the players. If DeAndre wants full MAX, GIVE HIM THE FULL MAX. If Matthews wants 15 million, just PAY HIM 15 Million. Really 3 million dollar difference going to destroy your wallet CUBAN?

I don´t think Cuban´s willingness to spend will be any kind of a problem. It´s all about the players right now

And Matthews may not play at all. Parsons could also hit a set back. Lots can go wrong.
Or, Matthews comes back at 90%+, Deandre adds to his offensive game with more focus, Parsons starts to fulfill his potential. They represent close to half of the team's points. Then, we could be contenders.
I'd be extra happy if we could land a decent PG this year and also see Justin Anderson develop into a valuable player.
Lots of ifs, but I was excited about the thought of Deandre + Matthews weeks ago, and I'm still excited about it now. Even though lots can go wrong (lots could go right).

@espn_macmahon: If the Mavs don't close the deal on DeAndre Jordan, their best bet might be to see if Pacers still want to dump Roy Hibbert's salary.

@UnderDog
Hibbert seriously? This franchise has taken a step back ever since winning it in 2011. Why have we become the place no one wants to play for? Is it cause we never resign the players on our current team? In my opinion mavs are not loyal to their own players and other free agents are seeing this.

And he was under no obligation to. He had to do what's best for him as the Mavs are doing what's the best for them.

I'd rather sign Asik for hopefully much less if we lose out on Jordan than take on Hibbert.
Actually I'd rather just load up on a bunch of youth on one year deals and hopefully one or a few would stick.
Basically would be a strategy to save our top 7 protected pick next season and start this thing completely over.

I figured Chandler might bolt after the Rondo issue in the POs.
After resigning him this team wouldn't have had many options to improve to anything much better than what they were last season.
Might as well sign with a team with an upside.

Mags may well implode
BUT there is some awfully dumb stuff being said too.
Mavs made the playoffs with an injured Parsons and a cancerous Rondo and Phoenix missed while healthy. Phoenix is a team with an up side?

It's kinda sad to think that perhaps guys like Chandler and Ellis wanted to leave regardless of the money.
The Rondo trade will go down as one of the worst in Mavs history. Horrible. Everything fell apart after that trade.
Just gotta get DAJ and go from there...

Ummm....yeah.... certainly better than ours at this point.
Bledsoe, Knight, Morris, Morris, Tucker, Booker and Len are more attractive than Parsons, 37yo Dirk, Harris, Felton and Anderson.

Well you are in luck-- Suns are looking for their third fan. You could probably slip in undetected among all the Phoenicians who come to Suns games wearing opposing team jerseys.
