Who cares. You see Wade in that thing? He looked like a 6th grader. And we all know Wade is a baller.

I'm not worried about the trade not going through. No way the Mavs submit a trade that doesn't work numbers wise or use the KVH angle if it wasn't a legit option. This is happening whether we like it or not.

We'd be fortunate if it happened tonight, rather than in 2 days.

If the trade goes official, and when we get a good picture.

I will believe the trade is finalized when I see Kidd on Dallas's bench. I trust Cuban. I don't trust Stern. He'll probably find some way to f the Mavs.

Terry would be much better off as a starter and Stackhouse would be much better off as the main 6th main role. Since this thing is probably going to go down.. Im going to start being more optimistic about this.
The lineup SHOULD be-
Kidd /new aquisition/JJB
Terry /new aquisition/Jones/Hassle
Howard /Stachhouse/Bass/............George
Dirk/Bass /.....Juwan
Damp /new aquisition/Fazekas/Juwan
Id rather not see Terry run any point again really, and Im sure he would be more comfortable with that. And I hope Bass would just play as a forward, but I know that wont happen unfortunately. So hopefully we get another combo guard that is worth something. I think we can get another center in MLE.

Stern has a huge power-trip thing going, but he's not going to just do something to screw the Mavs over for no reason. There's nothing here that Stern can overturn. The process with KVH is completely legal (hell, LA just did it).

I can tell you I sure as hell ain't going to miss Devin Harris.
The way I look at it, the west is a 4 team race. SA-DAL-LAL-PHO. The trade helps the Mavs versus LA & PHO, but I think it's a slight step backwards against SA. So it just comes down to how the playoff matchups shake out.
It's a risky move, the Mavs basically put all their eggs into a basket that's going to be dropped within 3 years. But, I think their odds of winning one within those couple of years has gone up a little. The window opens a little wider, but it's going to close sooner.

So we're not adding wright? I heard saw somewhere that the Nets will have 16 players after this trade.

My question is -- why is it considered a big deal that the Mavs are trading Van Horn, when nobody gave a rat's rear end that the Lakers just traded McKie...

It's not a big deal. People are being paranoid. The fear of Stern is a bit excessive.

What's the plan when damp gets hurt? Also, what's our frontcourt look like against shaq and amare?

What's confusing me is why exactly Van Horn has to suit up for the Nets. Can't he be waived right after he's officially a Net?

The same considering Diop couldn't even get off the bench last Thursday.

The only "fear" I guess is that you have to assume that Mavs have done their homework, contacted KVH, and have made sure he's willing to report to the Nets for as long as he needs to be there.

Well since snack will probably be hurt before dampier, it'll be damp/dirk vs diaw/stoudamire.
If not... damp/dirk vs snack/stoudamire..
I really dont' have as much problem with this but we'll have to see. Damp couldn't play against the suns because he wasn't quick enough and couldn't guard anyone, now he can.

If a guy's not in the 10 man roster then he's hardly a difference maker.

I expect Kidd to cost us about 10 points a night, between what he doesn't score, and what opposing points get off of him. However, I dream of seeing Josh getting perfect passes on the break for monster dunks, and Dirk spotting up for in rhythm 3's. Our shooters will all benefit from getting the ball where they want to catch it, Josh, Jet, Stack and Dirk could all see their percentages increase. They have to score enough to make up for the 10 points Kidd will cost us.
This is not the deal I would have done. But I been on the Mavs ride since 1983. Can't get off, so this is my team. Lets go win a championship.
If what the Mavs really need is a leader, and if Kidd is in fact a leader, he's got a team thats 3 time more talented that the nets he took to the Finals.
Damn, what a homer I am.

Why do we insist on trading for Darrell Armstrong, Allen AND making that side trade for Wright instead of just trading for Wright in instead of Darrell?

Good news! The Nets were always a little more desperate than we were.
Hassell ought to whup on George's ass though. Trent wasn't getting time though.... so hopefully, all parties are happy and the Mavs get the Kidd and then the bling.

If this goes through, it will be interesting to see how much playing time George gets from here on out, and what the team's/fan's reaction to him is.

Watching Kidd pass to All Stars is a quick way to make you forget every doubt you have about this trade.

From Stein's most recent update:
Quote:
The Mavericks would have to release one player -- likely rookie forward Nick Fazekas -- to make roster room for Van Horn. Dallas is also expected to complete a separate deal with the Nets in which they acquire Antoine Wright for a future second-round draft pick.
|
Two interesting tidbits there. First of all, there's going to be some very upset people around here if Faz is cut for this deal, but it seems inevitable.
Secondly, it appears the Antoine Wright trade is still happening. I wonder if they demanded we still take back that salary since they're taking Hassell instead of George.
