Because he's still a member of the Mavs and on the roster even when he's playing in the NBDL.

Why would we have to cut a player? Are we not sending Hassell in this deal after all?
Let's see...Harris and Diop and Ager outbound...that's three...Hassell is four. Kidd and Allen and Wright coming back is three. What am I missing?

You have to sign KVH before trading him.

You would have to add a player in KVH to make the deal work. So you have to add a player pre-deal since it would be a sign-and-trade.
Haha Jthig beat me to it .

Kidd IS a leader, through and through. We now will have 2 vocal leaders (and genuinely tough guys) on our team with Kidd and Stack.

If the woman in the pictures with Kidd above comes to Dallas as well then I am perfectly fine with this trade.

Cutting Faz just wouldn't make much sense if you have any hope for him at all.
Even if this team values Juwan more, surely you could cut him and then resign him, right? Are there rules against that?
Obviously you could try to do the same thing with Faz, but certainly he would be more desireable to other teams, and would probably be tempted to sign with a team that could promise more playing time.

SI says it's official.
And man, with one center on our team, the boys better have another trade left in 'em...

Actually the latest update no long mentions Armstrong as being part of the trade.

Uh, it doesn't say ANYTHING about DA in the article on ESPN. Nothing. He probably saw Malik Allen and got confused.

No, it did earlier. It was updated twice between 8 and 9 central.

It is already changed again at ESPN. Now the trade without Armstrong.

I think George did us a favor if we still get Wright and didn't have to trade Stackhouse to begin with. Funny how things work out sometimes. Cutting Fazekas would just be plain dumb though.

Sinners, repent!
Flakers, return!
Doubters, restore!
All you lost sheep may return to the fold.... for our shepard never changed. The savior our nerd has always had our flock's best interest at heart.
Sheep who start suspecting the flock is better without the shepard are not bad sheep... just lost.
But now you are found. Welcome home.

Big D on hunt for big man
Quote:
The Mavericks' attention has been on acquiring Jason Kidd from the Nets, and it seems the teams are closing in on a deal again, this time without Devean George and Jerry Stackhouse but inserting Keith Van Horn and former Bull Trenton Hassell.
But league insiders say Dallas also has been working the phones for a big man, focusing mostly on Denver's Nene, out after cancer surgery, and Kenyon Martin, a Dallas high school product finally regaining his health after knee operations.
Martin averaged 35 minutes in three games last week and is averaging a season-best 15.3 points and 7.6 rebounds in seven February games. Figure the Nuggets would like Devin Harris, who was slated to go to the Nets, but the Mavs would still need a point guard.

That article goes on to say that the Nuggets would like Harris for Martin. On a related note, I would like a billion dollars.

And he might actually get surer minutes, with Hassell shipped out. Meaning, of course, that his agent may have won out after all.
