Not that anyone really cares what Kyrie thinks, but?
The Nets did not respond to a request for comment. A message sent to Rich Kleiman, Durant?s business partner, went unanswered. A source close to the Nets organization indicated Durant is not the only Nets star unhappy with the team?s leadership. ?Kyrie Irving hates these guys,? the source said. ?He feels that Nash is terrible and Marks is bad.? ? via Mark W. Sanchez, Josh Kosman @ New York Post

Marc Stein: Dallas plans to hire former NBA swingman Marko Milič ? Slovenia?s first NBA player ? to join the coaching staff in player development, league sources confirm. Milič obviously knows Luka Dončić well and played with Jason Kidd in Phoenix. More NBA from me: marcstein.Substack.com ? via Twitter TheSteinLine

Sexton is available but Cleveland are waiting for Mitchell deal
Mitchell is available but UTah are waiting for KD/Kyrie shoes to drop
JAzz are willing to deal Bev, but they are waiting to see if they can get a good deal on Mitchell, which again might depend on KD/Kyrie
Just because the Mavs haven't made a move by August, doesn't mean they won't make a move. IT might be trading camp. It might be the TDL, but they are looking and I believe they will get something done.

I can't find the image where it's got Jalen in a Knicks uniform facing Luka and the Mavs and the score is like 73-37 Mavs.

Chris Fedor: The Cavs have had conversations with Dallas about a sign and trade for Collin Sexton. But if you?re talking about a sign-and-trade, the Cavs need something back that is going to be valuable to them. And neither the Jazz nor the Mavericks have the pieces that the Cavs would want back in a sign and trade for Colin. ? via Hayden Grove @ Cleveland Plain Dealer

So they had a conversation that went no where that's really great news. I'm sure Dallas made the call to Cleveland because everyone knows we have no trade assets.

Would you rather they not call teams to inquire what the asking price is? Doesn?t hurt to have a conversation. Maybe it went nowhere now, it closer to the trade deadline maybe Cleveland will be a little more open to moving him if it isn?t working out.

I think that could be the strategy at this point.
Go with what we have to see how chemistry works, measure successes, see if the young players develop into anything special that can have an impact or become decent trade bait, and determine any areas of need. Then make the necessary moves at TDL or before to fill any voids (injuries, attitudes, etc...) or areas of need to prepare for the POs.
Perhaps we'll be in a better position to knab a guy like Sexton without giving up as many assets as we would have to now and maybe other teams will be in more desperate situations to give up higher caliber players at lower prices.

Unless he's still waiting on the Jazz/Knicks thing which would be silly because Ainge is insane with his asks.

welp - now what...
We replaced the Mavs of 2 years ago of KP, Jalen Brunson, Trey Burke, WCS and Boban
-with-
Christian Wood, Spencer Dinwiddie, Reggie Bullock, JaVale McGee and Davis Bertans.
I think this will make our team much better because it makes us more versatile, athletic and a lot taller.
There isn't a rotation player shorter than Bullock now.
REALLY looking forward to the season!

My concern is not SD in the starting group, but rather if you have he and Luka starting, you need trust in the ball handler coming off the bench. God forbid one of those 2 goes down and misses games.

It's like the Mavs somehow didn't learn from the Jazz series. If Brunson wasn't on the team, then we are out in the first round.
Need another ball handler.

I'm cautiously optimistic that Dorsey can contribute a little and SD can step up with a full training camp and season under his belt. Dorsey has had a season of averaging 21mpg and averaged 17-6-3 per 36 at the NBA level so that's something.
SD was also awesome in flashes with two 26-pt games out of three against the Suns. He had a stinker every-other game, but that's how THJ is and if THJ and SD can alternate their stinkers on different nights, we'll have a flamethrower every single game (SD shot 50/40/73 last season).
I'm not as super hyped as I would be with a bigger name and I still think we saw our guard position downgraded, but there is still some reason to be optimistic.
I also think Wood is going to be all all-star who will average 27-11-2 for us.

What concerns me, and probably some others, will be the numerous times SD and THJ will likely have "stinkers" on the same night. That is the pessimist view
I still think Schroder is our best chance to address the void of another ball handler.

So personally I think Schroder ensures a great season. He is the perfect insurance piece.
Now, I'm guessing the reason the Mavs don't want him is defense. I can see that. Luka and SD are already mediocre to sometimes subpar defenders. Hard to match last season defensively when you've also added a not good at d Wood.
Problem is our defenders can't handle the ball for sh**. Green and Frank can make plays, but they can't run an offense to save their lives. And they're better than Bullock and DFS in that regard.
If that is the case that they don't want a poor defensive guard, then you can forget someone like Kemba Walker as well.

They shouldn't be worried about a backup PGs defense IMO.

Yeah, Brunson wasn't a good defender so it shouldn't hurt them.
Guys like Green, Frank Bullock and Maxi will be on 2nd unit so they,ll need offense.
I'm hoping Bullock, Maxi, Green, Frank, and DFS take their offensive games to another level because we are starving for some 2 way players.

Brunson played turrble team defense. It was highly frustrating.
I think Frank and Green are the only ones who have big leap potential. Maxi is probably at his ceiling...DFS and Bullock probably are too.

One of my biggest concerns with the absence of Brunson is that Hardaway will try to take on a much bigger role and that could very likely become a disaster.
You're right, Frank and Green (and maybe Hardy) have to take huge steps to help keep that from happening.

ESPN voted us with the worth offseason. They have long been lacking with credibility, but I wouldn't totally poo poo it. We do need another ball handler.
Problem with waiting til the deadline is you risk running Luka and Spencer to death with the playmaking load. You're basically screwed if one of them gets hurt.

Idk what's worse,
* Ball Handler issues.
* Wood coming off the bench.

You guys will think I'm nuts, but bring in Westbrook. We aren't contenders anyways as constructed.
THJ, Bertan, Powell
for
Westbrook, Reaves, FRP
Lakers get some shooters around Bron. Mavs gain long-term flexibility.
