24 Day 8
I finished the last of the first 4 hours of day 8 at lunch today. Let me just say that it appeared to be a follow the formula type season until that last 10 minutes. It got me pumped up. I am trying not to be spoilery so I won't mention names/actions but did anyone see this? I know what that reminded me of and I bet it did the same for you.
Awesome.

My wife remarked "Is it weird that Jack is baby-sitting someone else who is more wheels off than he is?"
Indeed, it is very weird. I groaned when they brought that chick back so quickly and with such a flimsy pretense...but she's freaking crazy, so it's awesome.
Plus, you know....I'd hit it.

I didn't catch any references, but maybe I didn't see the other thing you're thinking of.
All I know is I think Freddie Prince Jr. is pretty cool right now, and I hate Fox for that.

I find it weird that the current Sudanese president is named Omar Hassan al-Bashir.
Also, on Tuesday I learned that the daughter of the head of the materials group at the company where I work is the actress that plays Hassan's wife.
Yeah, that's all I have. My husband watches 24, but I find it too stressful for me...

The Omar on the show is pretty clearly supposed to be Iran's President though.
I like the season thus far. German Jack is bamf. I like his glasses.

I can't wait until the story develops more though.... it can't just be nuclear again right? Something we haven't seen has to be in play soon I would think.
Also.... softie Jack is getting on my nerves. And CTU has gone soft as well...

I am incredibly annoyed by the "oh my brother's dying" plot line. I'm sorry, who the hell are you and why should I care?
And the Starbuck vs Redneck guy thing....that is whipping me pretty hard.
They need to get things rolling.

I concur. Both these sub-plots are very mundane.

Wife and I watched it tonight, and that was our thought too.
Still trying to figure out how someone gets stabbed and is perfectly fine, however....

24 is being shopped to different networks. Looks like Fox isn't going to pick it up again...
Too bad too. I think Jack really needs an epic send off...and death.

surely that will happen in this uneventful, rehashed storyline season.... kill the man while trying to save the President. Too bad it couldn't be President Palmer he is saving.

Maybe the Prime Minister of Malyasia will try and infiltrate the pentagon..
I think the show reached an all time low last night when Jack was yelling at a computer to "HURRY UP"... I can see that being an inside writing joke, like his drinking game DAMMIT. It's become comical to count how many times Jack yells as someone randomly.

^ This.
I believe there needs to be an explosion that kills Chloe, Jack, and that annoying Blond Chick - then this season might be interesting. Also, we need another character like Tony Almeida - his character alone is what made the last season so great. I just hope it gets better as the season goes on...

24 Officially Canceled
LOS ANGELES, Calif. --
Jack Bauer’s latest rough day will be his last on TV.
FOX drama “24” will conclude with its current eighth season, star Mary Lynn Rajskub Tweeted on Friday, breaking the news.
“Just found out we got the word officially,” she Tweeted. “This is 24’s last season.”
FOX later confirmed the news, calling it a joint decision between “24” star and executive producer, Kiefer Sutherland, and showrunner Howard Gordon.
“This has been the role of a lifetime, and I will never be able to fully express my appreciation to everyone who made it possible,” Kiefer said in a statement to Access Hollywood. “While the end of the series is bittersweet, we always wanted ‘24’ to finish on a high note, so the decision to make the eighth season our last was one we all agreed upon. This feels like the culmination of all our efforts from the writers to the actors to our fantastic crew and everyone at FOX.”
The star added that a feature film based on the show is in development.
The series finale of “24” will air on Monday, May 24.
The series offered a groundbreaking format upon its November 2001 debut by splitting a 24-hour day into one-hour real-time episodes, and grappled with terrorism and political issues in the wake of 9/11.

I watched 2 hours yesterday...still one behind.
But I sure didn't see the pinch coming at the end of that last one I watched. That looks like fun.

It really is. Jack's life sucks. I wonder what the movie is going to be about....
I also wonder what Chloe as CTO head is going to be like. I like her being the whiny little tech girl that supports Jack always.

I'm glad 24 is being ballsy again. For awhile they wouldn't do anything bold or kill of any semi-main character. Killing Hassan and Renee is bold and I love it. Also, having Gregory Itzin back is awesome. He is 75776788 times more intriguing than boring ass "This is unacceptable!" President Taylor.

That whole speech from President Taylor to Chloe sounded like a speech from Logan.
Logan makes it fun again, that's for sure. I wonder what Jack is going to do? Infiltrating CTU would be suicidal I think. Maybe he's going to protect that guys family since he gave him his word? I don't get it. I mean I'm glad he wasn't "locked down" but did anyone actually think that would happen?

Down to the final few episodes.
No spoilers here...I just caught this weeks episode while running on the treadmill this morning.
Intense as ever and looking forward to how this concludes.
I believe this will be a cool ending as well as the right time to end the show all together.
Will Jack live or die? What will Chloe do next?

Man the last two episodes have been solid. Last night especially.
The movie thing is stupid.... I wish they would just give the Jack Bauer story an ending on the show. Is the idea to have a series of movies with Bauer as 007?
But this season went from dull and dragging on to pretty fun and engaging quickly.

Not sure if I'm up for a 24 movie...no doubt the hype will build it up...
I do however like the thought of running it into a .007 type of Movie Franchise, but not sure how you could segway from Jack to some other super agent?
Agreed...the show had been dragging over the past couple of seasons and that start of this one...but it's picked up some steam for the final stretch.
Next two weeks, I'm on the road, so I'll be looking forward to when I get home and can catch the shows on DVR.

Awesome. Some of that was hard to stomach. Jack unleashed.
That WTF face at the end was classic.

Yes, I am caught up now so I can actually post real time. <--hehe
Anyway, this show has finally found itself again. I don't understand how it took them 3.5 seasons to realize the train had left the track. Well, it's a little late now, but this is going to be a great final four hours... Damn, LOST and 24 will be gone forever in a matter of weeks... Very sad.

I agree. The show is good again, and it's almost over.
And yes, his face when he heard Logans name....That's what I was waiting for the last two weeks: For Jack to hear that effers name. It is ON now.

Gregory Itzin as Logan is just sheer genius. I love Logan's character. President Taylor is so GD mundane, 1-D and a bad actress. I loathe her character and incessant "How could this happen!?"
