“I’m increasingly of the view that we will be looking to make some sort of change in that rule this summer," Silver said, via USA Today. It’s just not the way we want to see the game played."

I don't like the idea of rules changes to cover up player weaknesses. It will definitely alienate my interest in the NBA. But for intentional fouls, wouldn't an elegant solution be to simply allow the fouled team to decline the FTs and take the ball out of bounds with a reset 24-second clock? The fouling team would then have to decide whether it's worth it to accumulate personal and team fouls with a lesser return.
Alternatively, an intentionally fouled player could elect to take an unchallenged 3-pt shot, with players from both teams lined up behind the 3-point arc.
Or make intentional fouls carry a technical foul as well, akin to delay-of-game
violations.
Or for intentional fouls, allow the fouled team to select the FT-shooter from players currently in the game.
Just don't overregulate it, Silver.

If you can't hit a FREE throw at the professional level, then you absolutely deserve to get dogged.

The worst part is that you're catering mostly to guys who have never had to learn how to shoot like Howard, DAJ, and Drummond. Those guys made it almost entirely on their size and athletic abilities. Definitely sends a poor message about the importance of learning basketball fundamentals.

I agree. What baffles me is the fact that the free throw line has been the same distance since most people start playing basketball. They have been taking this shot since they were in 4th-5th grade. How have you not found a shot there you can hit at least 60%? I could hit 6/10 without a warmup.

I'm "shocked" that Dwight(and likely the rest of the team) doesn't enjoy playing with a dude who dribbles the clock out throws a shitty pass with just a few seconds left on shot clock to generate fake assists. Why would they not love playing with a dude who when at his best, is not passing the ball to one single teammate to keep them engaged and in rhythm, effectively freezing out his own teammates, and instead is pure iso driven and spends the whole game baiting officials into calls and without calls he goes from the worst defender in the NBA to... well, James Frauden.

Its funny how pretty much every big FA who burned the Mavs would choose differently looking back.
Deron told it was a 51:49 decision pro Nets. Well, pretty sure he would choose the Mavs now.
Same goes with Dwight, Fegan was pushing him to Dallas, he choosed Rockets.
DeAndra...i would say yes too. With the Clippers he is pretty much back to his roleplayer status behind Paul and Blake.
Just Iggy is happy that the Jazz blew it up and took all the crappy Warriors contracts.

If you haven't already I'd recommend watching a quick highlight of the dunks by Gordon and Lavine. Impressive stuff from both of them.

And thats what made this one amazing...Lavine and Gordon were pulling off amazing dunks on the first try. And because they tied in the finals, they kept going for more dunks to outdo the other

@FisolaNYDN: Dwight Howard could be moved by Thursday's trade deadline. Miami is talking with Houston about a deal that would include Hassan Whiteside.
Miami would be stupid to make this trade...

Tough to make salaries match up. Miami would have to include 3-4 other players.

Yeah, they'd have to part with either Bosh, Wade or Dragic+1 just to make the numbers work... Doesn't make any sense.

Hassan gets sick of Harden. Opts to be a FA. Signs with us this summer. Zaza mentors him as backup.

Apparently the HOU/MIA Deal is hot and includes Dragic+Whiteside = Howard + X
Dragic/Harden would be the worst defensive Guard Duo in league history. Not sure Whiteside would make that up with his 4 Blocks a Game lol.

I think that rumor was hot yesterday. Haven't heard much on it today.
I don't think Howard will be moved because teams aren't going to give up assets for a guy who will be a free agent in a few months. And those teams interested might not want to max him out anyway.

If Rockets are desperate to shake things up and move Howard then who else could they get besides Whiteside?

Surprised Memphis would give up Lee like that in the middle of the season.

@ESPNSteinLine: ESPN sources say that the Pistons have offered center Joel Anthony to the Houston Rockets in exchange for PF Donatas Motiejunas
@ESPNSteinLine: Imagine it would take draft compensation from the Pistons as a sweetener for the Rockets to surrender Motiejunas (who they like) in that one

Trade went through with Joel Anthony and a protected first rounder per Woj. Looks like a pretty shitty trade for the Rockets depending on that pick.

@KBergCBS: The Thunder send D.J. Augustin, Steve Novak and two second-round picks to Denver for Randy Foye, league source says.

I don't really get what was going on. Rockets supposedly were pretty high on him and got basically nothing in return. I guess I'm more mad because Mavs didn't get into D-Mo talks... Oh well, perhaps he'll go cheap this summer with his health questions.

@KBergCBS: Clippers indeed squeezed in a deal at the end, sending Lance Stephenson and a future first to Memphis for Jeff Green, source confirms.

@ESPNSteinLine: ESPN sources say Milwaukee made offer for Dwight Howard but talks broke down in part because Howard wouldn't opt into final year of contract

I like D-MO a lot...but they got a 1st round pick, which is only top-8 protected. That pick is going to be low-lottery to no higher than 20. That's hardly "nothing" for a guy with serious injury concerns who will demand a lot of money in FA.

@ESPNSteinLine : ESPN sources say Houston also talked Dwight Howard with Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Miami. Looming free agency big obstacle
