Dallas Cowboys 2016 - The Road to Super Bowl LI
The road starts with the draft... You can pretty much count out Goff and Wentz after LA (gotta get used to that) and Philly traded up... So we just have to see what San Diego does.
If they take Tunsil, then I think we probably take Ramsey at #4... But if they take Ramsey, then you gotta think we trade down, especially if Tunsil commands a similar haul to what Cleveland got for their #2 pick. And I don't think we trade down very far -- maybe still high enough to get Elliott or a sliding Bosa (if we don't outright take one of them at #4, which I wouldn't be mad about either).
The beautiful thing is that we not only have options, but if we're smart we may be able to significantly dictate how the first couple rounds of this draft shake out.

I'm rly not a bosa fan. He seems like he's a top pick mainly because the pass rushers this year suck. If we stay put and take Ramsey or even Zeke I wouldn't be upset. If we moved back and got a pick I wouldn't hate Bosa then but ugh Bosa at 4 just feels so lukewarm for a top 5 pick.

Bosa is a gifted player, but I agree that he's not top-5... If we were to take a DE in the first round, I'd rather trade down to get Lawson and an extra pick.

@RapSheet: The #Cowboys are working scenarios, but they sound like they are debating: #OSU RB Zeke Elliott vs. #FSU CB Jalen Ramsey.

I'm absolutely on board with either of them so I hope this is true.

Yeah, Zeke and Ramsey are pretty much the only two guys I see worth the #4 pick, otherwise trade down.
EDIT: Obviously Tunsil is worth it as well, but not with our needs.

@AdamSchefter: Sound Paxton Lynch alert: CLEV and DAL have inquired about trading back into back part of first round, per sources. Let's see if it heats up

@RapSheet: The #Cowboys can't resist the elite RB, even with Jalen Ramsey right there. They pick #OSU RB Zeke Elliott. Triplets again.

Think this helps defense by converting 3rd down and getting tds in redzone while also keeping romo healthy. I love it.

Ramsey helps the secondary, but Elliott helps the entire defense by keeping them off the field.

Indeed, my thoughts exactly. Would have liked to move back and get him as well but maybe the only offers were just too far back.

Do the Cowboys trade one of their RBs now? McFadden is coming off a career season, so his value is decent... What about Dunbar? Or Morris? (not sure how the rules work in the NFL with a newly-signed player...)
Or they can just cut someone.

@JC1053: Myles Jack. Noah Spence. Reggie Ragland. Michael Thomas. Andrew Billings. My short list.
I'd rate Billings after Spence, but yeah...

So glad Broncos outbid us with Seattle to get Lynch. Reports are we would have gave up 2nd and 3rd rounders for him. There are plenty of project qb's using a 2 and a 3 when we need defense help would have been disappointing to me.

Kinda nice not having to wait several hours into the draft to make our pick...

@AdamSchefter: Dr. Dan Cooper, Cowboys' team physician, performed Jaylon Smith's surgery one week after Fiesta Bowl.

Well the good news is I rly thought he was the best player in the draft before the injury. The bad news is we rly need players on the field lol... but since both pass rushers who we could have plugged in and used went right before our pick I'm ok with us taking the gamble.

Oakland inexplicably moves ahead of us to get Connor Cook, even though they already have Derek Carr... Apparently Jerry was pissed when it happened.
Cowboys take DE Charles Tapper with pick 101 instead.

Cook just screams journey-man backup to me.... Tapper is 271lbs and ran a 4.59 and looks like he didn't just rush qb every play, he had other responsibilities. I'll take that upside.

The general consensus is that Tapper was misused in his last 2 years... Seems like a solid pick though.
But I still don't get why Oakland moved up to get Cook when they've already got an excellent, young QB in Carr -- seems like they wasted a pick just to stick it to the Cowboys for whatever reason (ghost of Al Davis?)

Also, how the hell is Billings still on the board???? Dude was a possible first-rounder with no red flags... Wasn't the knee injury just an unconfirmed rumor? How is he still available??

No pass rush. He's simply a run stopper. With that being said I'm shocked he's still on the board.

Dak Prescott... Not any worse than Cook, really. At least we have a backup.

I like it, I personally wanted Hack to fall but Prescott was my 2nd choice of what I'd want as a developmental qb.

No picks in the fifth round, but we have 4 picks in the 6th... Still lots of needs to fill, so it'll be interesting to see what they do here.
I wouldn't be shocked if we traded up into the 5th.

Anthony Brown, cross corner off the list... Kavon Frazier, cross safety off the list.

Darius Jackson, another RB... Interesting.
There's gotta be a trade around the corner, right? Or do we just cut a couple guys?

So with their last pick, the Cowboys draft........ a basketball player??........ to be Jason Witten's successor?? Sure, why not.

6'8.... 6'11 Wingspan... 4 Offensive rebounds a game and 0ver 9 total per game... 25min per game. He might be the best rebounder in Dallas right now and he plays for the cowboys.
