In Mike Conley we trust
But yeah the rest is garbage. Including the Lakers with Lol-lonzo

Bulls win! (Grizz too, but they beat Atlanta, so...)

Clearly Mirotic is the MVP... 5-0 since he came back. Blows my mind, they looked genuinely awful a few weeks ago.

In my opinion you cant do much wrong taking either of Bagley, Ayton or Doncic.
The Problem is if you dont get one of them... there is a big drop off after that eventhough still some nice Talent around.

I wouldn't discount Porter just because he has an injury -- it affects his draft stock, but there's still a decent chance that he's the best player in this draft. Dude was drawing comparisons to Durant before he went down... And I think Bamba is looking better too. He definitely doesn't have the superstar potential of the other 4, but I don't think the drop-off is that steep (he's averaging a double-double along with 4 blocks per game).
But after the top-5? Yeah, guys like Jaren Jackson and Miles Bridges look more like high-end role players than potential All-Stars.

Is Trae young really that good? Better than junior? He’s been pretty ridiculous this year. Gotta think a team in need of a pg takes him before guys like bridges or Jackson. Playing a scrub team tonight but after 1st half he’s either scored or assisted on 90% of their buckets. 15 pts and 13 dimes

Looks pretty dang good. Being able to shoot opens up a lot of room. Junior needs to work on that shot

Trae Young is the real deal. I'm hoping he and Sexton can climb up draft boards for a guard needy team to drop some wings/bigs to the Mavs.

does he have steph curry type range? only watched a couple clips but looks like he's comfortable pulling up several feet behind the line.
tough question then... let's say we don't tank as well as we'd like and end up with the #6 or # 7 pick and he's on the board and clearly the best player left. Do we pass over him and take someone else? take him and trade him? any possibility he plays himself into being a top 5 pick?

I say always take BPA, within reason. Lets say your grade on him and Miles Bridges, for instance, is similar, then take the need. But never take a player you have rated a tier below because of need. What if he IS the next Steph Curry? Also opens up good possible trade down options.
But lets not tempt Rick with multiple midgets.

If we are looking at center and we end up drafting around 10, look at Brandon Mccoy from UNLV. Freshman 7 footer that has a great base to build on. He definitely needs a couple seasons in the NBA to build his frame being only 19. Just an option if we find ourselves winning games trying to make a playoff push lol

Yeah I think this another really good draft with plenty of talent. Still, would be nice to have a shot at one of the top-5 guys

new mock, Trae jumped to #5
I think the top-4 are set in stone, with Porter being a lock at #4 too (because of his injury).

I'd also like to discuss the top 10 of the 2nd round. I still think there are rotation players there, and potential upside to starter potential.
I think Devonte Graham would be a better shooting Yogi, with more size and defense, as good as Yogi is at leveraging his quickness.
Same would apply to Allonzo Trier. His teammate Rawle Atkins could drop into this range, too.
Shake Milton has a lot to like about his game. SMU is a much smaller team this year, so you'll see their three guards put up some numbers.
Mitchell Robinson was a top rated big who we won't see play college ball, but could slip into this range. His tangibles will likely have him late 1st.
A name I don't see mocked, but could see more over the course of the season, Daniel Gafford of Arkansas. I'm a little bit of a homer, but the kid was highly rated, and could have moved up had he not committed early. I think he'd fit tremendously on this Mavs team. Think of a better Powell on a much cheaper contract, and that's what I think his floor would be. However, he may opt to stay another season, we will see.

Tough thing about the 2nd round is that there's going to be a LOT of risers/fallers in that range between now and summer.

True. But off radar guys are fun to talk about, as well as some guys who are older and are projected in that same area now. But I agree, not as easy as top 5 or 10 overall.

Yeah, about a month ago I wondered if we might be able to land Mitchell Robinson in the second round if we couldn't get a center with our first pick -- he was ranked in the 35-40 range back then, now I see him projected in the 20-25 range, even as high as #15 overall.

Yeah talking now about the picks in the 20+ range is a crapshot. One nice tournament in march and a projected #30+ pick goes #15-20...

There is also the inverse situation. Where a guy who is projected around 20 ends up being a 2nd round in mocks like Bacon last year. He started the year shooting 40-50% from 3 and ended 33% and fell accordingly.

Phoenix beat Memphis -- the Grizzlies are 2-17 without Conley, 7-5 with him... Better hope he gets healthy soon!

Probably a product of what we are mentioning here. Way too much time and way too much moving up and down draft boards at this time. So maybe I jumped the gun. I just wanna see what kind of talent we can add next year haha. I absolutely think we can get a solid piece in both rounds.

Grizz have some win-able games upcoming on their schedule. Would be awesome if they can get Conley back soon and if he can stay healthy. Parsons certainly isn't going to lead them to wins.

Sounds like Conley is still 2 weeks away from being healthy.

That's a tough one to call for the Griz. Heel/achilles injury is really easy to aggravate and one to take a long time to recover. They could be 10-30 or so by the time he is ready. However, they do have a roster that can compete. Tricky situation.

Soooooo. . . how are we feeling about the 6-10 picks? Any clear winners in there, or are we going to get stuck with leftovers?

I think if you ended up with either of the Bridges boy's you would be pretty happy. I'm not sure either has superstar potential, but should have solid careers. Slight chance Porter slips to 6-7.

I like the Bridges -- they both have an Iguodala-type ceiling, and you gotta have guys like that in this league... But I'd really prefer to come away from this shit-ass season with someone who has superstar potential. Porter slipping to us in the 6-10 range would be a DSJ-level miracle, and easily the best we can hope for if we pick outside the top-5. Bamba also has the potential to slip if Sexton can keep pushing his way up like Young has... Just not confident that we're going to end up with a top-5 pick in this draft, which means we're going to rely on a bit of luck to land the right guy.

Bamba with a big time performance in a close loss to Kansas.
22 Points, 15 Rebounds (8 Offensive), 8 Blocks!! Oh and 1 3pt for good measure.
This was the first game where I watched him and thought, "Ok #5 could work for us." Obviously with the 3 Win Streak the possibility is becoming more remote for us to even land that...

Mo Bamba is legit, would not mind landing him... And with Young cracking into the projected top-5, we might even be able to get him with the #6 overall pick.

Tank is 10 deep
Lakers and Nets dont want to tank, they will try hard and maybe try to improve further via trades
Bulls are rocking the past weeks, i think they are looking to push for the playoffs
Magic/Grizz had/have incredible bad luck with injuries.
So Top-5 is still doable...
