So Called ESPN Expert Preseason Predictions
Hollinger is the only one who was close to right. Scoop Jackson really looks like a fool!

4th in the division? What the hell are they smoking? I mean behind San Antonio maybe but did they really think we'd also be behind these guys?
Houston
Memphis/NOKC
I actually dont mind Sheridan at all, but man was he wrong.
And WTF is up with Scoop? Did he really think we could lose 21 more games this year than last, miss the playoffs badly with sub-500 ball and AJ would still get coach of the year consideration?

Wow Bucher is dumber than I thought.

They should play Dirk as an undersized center and try to run teams off the floor with their athleticism and scoring. That seems way too radical for coach Avery Johnson, so I see them living and dying in the middle of the playoff pack.

It's somewhat interesting to look at how teams performed this year compared to their pre-season expectations based on over/under lines. Here is the breakdown, extrapolating each team's ultimate win total based on current win percentage:
18.9 NOH
13.5 DET
9.9 LAC
9.5 DAL
8.5 UTA
6.2 ATL
5.6 SAS
5.2 MEM
4.4 MIL
3.6 CHA
2.9 NJN
2.6 CLE
2.2 ORL
2.1 LAL
0.5 WAS
-0.2 PHX
-2.5 TOR
-2.6 PHI
-3.2 DEN
-3.9 MIA
-5.6 CHI
-6.6 POR
-6.9 SAC
-8.1 GSW
-8.4 BOS
-9.4 SEA
-10.9 MIN
-12.1 IND
-16.1 NYK
-18.8 HOU
Dallas overperformed quite nicely. The Hornets and Pistons were easy money, as were the Clips. I pity the souls would played the over on the Tpups, Pacers, snicks, or Rockets.

Nah, those were the totals from 10/10/05. I'm sure you could find a book to bet with during the season, but I was just going on preseason numbers.
In that respect, PHX did pretty well for themselves without Amare, didn't they?
Edit: Whoops. Amare was already down by then, wasn't he? I guess PHX did about as well as expected, then!

I am not sure where Scoop Jackson's appeal comes from. Can somebody explain this to me? Why is he kept on staff, he certainly seems to lack NBA knowledge rather than profess it.
I still see racial divides in this nation, and I don't feel that Scoop or Steven A. do much to move the NBA fanbase towards the "International Game" that the NBA is rapidly becoming, I feel like they are remnants from the 1970-1980's NBA culture.
Anybody idiot can jump up and down and scream "LeBron James" it doesn't take much sense to know that he's a wonderful player in the NBA, but on the same take so is Dirk...
