Thats my hot take:
Durant and Irving decided to team up in NY. Durant demands before his signing that the Knicks re-sign his best buddy in the league DJ to a longterm contract too.
Knicks using DSJ to ship out the 7.5m contract from Lance Thomas(maybe additional Frank or even Noahs dead salary), creating the 10-12m additional cap for DJ

More like the Knicks get bumped down in the draft, end up with Ja, who puts DSJ into another Luka situation, then none of the big name FAs sign there, so they end up overpaying Harrison Barnes and Wes Matthews to hit the minimum cap threshold.
Welcome to the Knicks.

@wojespn: Portland has agreed to a deal to acquire Cleveland forward Rodney Hood for guards Nik Stauskas, Wade Baldwin and two future second-round picks, league sources tell ESPN.
@BobbyMarks42: Cleveland has turned Kyle Korver, Rodney Hood, George Hill and Sam Dekker into 7 draft selections (1 first and 6 2's).

@wojespn: Beyond the Lakers and Knicks, the Pelicans have been made aware of "a handful" of teams that Anthony Davis would be willing to sign long-term with upon a trade, league sources tell ESPN. Boston isn't included on that list.
@wojespn: This could help open up marketplace on a trade for Davis between now and Thursday 3 p.m. deadline, creating stronger offers to Pels. No matter destination, Davis has no plans to sign extension this summer. The plan is signing a new deal in July of 2020, once he opts out.
@wojespn: The Milwaukee Bucks are one of the teams on Davis' new extended list, league sources tell ESPN. Milwaukee hasn't inquired about a Davis trade, sources say, and its roster composition does make the pathway to a trade extremely difficult.

Hmm still seems like the Lakers have the best offer. I wouldn't do it though without Zubac included.

I do think the Pelicans are playing with fire. I would ask for more, current offer by the Lakers is low, but I think the Pels need to get this done by trade deadline, if the Lakers add more young talent. Ainge and Boston will be lowballing in June regardless what promises he makes now. Unless there are some tricks with salary caps opening up after this season, I fail to see a reason to ignore the Lakers. Nobody seems to care about this year's draft picks either (outside top 5). Pels option right now would be to try and build around Ingram, perhaps he turns out to be in a similar situation that Oladipo was in OKC.
My personal preference would be Davis to the East. This is why Dallas sacrificed so much, in hopes to get KD to New York and weaken the West.

@wojespn: Pels are waiting on Lakers to overwhelm them w/ an historic haul of picks. To Nola, that means Lakers offering 4 first-round and second-round picks as part of a Davis package. Pels want to be compensated - perhaps even overcompensated - to even consider a deal with LA now.

@FredKatz: Wizards say Wall developed an infection in the incision from surgery he recently had on bone spurs in his left heel. According to the Wizards’ announcement, he ruptured the Achilles recently after slipping and falling while at home.

His contract was already looking terrible even before the injury, now it's 100% the biggest albatross in the NBA tbh

@wojespn: Orlando Magic rookie center Mo Bamba will miss significant time with a stress fracture in his lower left leg, league sources tell ESPN. For now, there's no expectation that he will need surgery.

@ShamsCharania: Memphis is in strong talks to move franchise star Marc Gasol to Charlotte, league sources tell @TheAthletic @WatchStadium.
@ShamsCharania: Memphis will sit Marc Gasol out tonight. The Grizzlies and Hornets are still discussing framework of deal, including matching the salary necessary to meet Gasol's $24.1M contract, sources said.

Right? What in the hell would the Grizzlies want from them? I guess picks but the player choices outside of Kemba...yuck.

Clippers decided that they wont pay Harris in the summer. Also, they traded their 2019 to Boston, but its lottery protected. So missing the playoffs, they keep their pick. The incoming Heat 2021 is also really big...they could easily outbid now Lakers or Boston for Davis...

Yes its a killer deal for LAC. Very crafty. I just wasn't expecting him to Philly. Potentially keeping their own pick is big too. Jerry West and Lawrence Frank doing work.

Ah yes, forgot this part of it. Love it for the Clips. Really both teams (Sixers for going for it, I really like Harris) but Clips got very solid return for a guy they likely weren't re-signing anyway.

Woooo here we go, it's heating up...
Wizards - absolutely effed with that Wall contract. Never thought he was impactful enough in today's NBA (read: he can't shoot) to take up near that amount of salary cap. Otto Porter Jr. has to be shopped now for some return, but I'm not sure any team is going to give them a first for that contract.
Magic - depending on the fracture, they likely overpay to keep Vucevic now, right? I'd want that as a Magic fan and shop Bamba once healthy.
Grizzlies - smart to get some return now for their aging vets in the landscape of not only the NBA but more importantly the West. I'd think the Hornets would be giving up Monk + a few picks to get it done but saw they were having salary matching issues. I think they'd be dumb to include Bridges, but could get it done without him.
Clippers and Sixers - love the move for both. Clips likely weren't going to re-sign Harris with their bigger offseason aspirations. Harris for the Sixers should work really well. They key piece is likely the Heat's unprotected 2021 pick and the cap space to Clips. Don't see it being possible that the Sixers retain both Harris and Butler, but they sure will try. It's about trying to control the East this season and wooing them both back.
Lakers - LOL they looked horrific last night. I have no idea why they would insist on keeping any of the young players and hold out not trading for Davis now and wait for the summer. On the other hand, why would the Pelicans want essentially the same Lakers team from last season? I don't blame them from holding out for a haul of picks. They should. It's Anthony freaking Davis for two playoff runs and space to add another star for a big 3 this summer.
Mavericks - Doncic is a complete baller and Kristaps is gonna tear it up with him for years to come!

Bobby Marks: The Clippers now have a clear path to a max contract this summer with Tobias Harris shipped to Philadelphia. Removing the Harris hold now has Los Angeles with $37M in room. The team could see room increase to $49M if Avery Bradley is waived in the offseason and up $70.7M if they find a team to take back the $22.6M contract of Danilo Gallinari this summer. – vi

@JakeLFischer: While Memphis has most seriously continued dialogue with Utah and Detroit on Mike Conley trade packages, the Raptors called Memphis offering Kyle Lowry and Jonas Valanciunas for Conley and Marc Gasol, per league sources. Lowry is aware of Toronto’s general trade discussions.
