The offense is the problem...
https://twitter.com/MavsMuse/status/1603397022136016896
Nothing made that more clear than when Wood went into the game and what happened after he was pulled in the first half. Night and day.
Kidd thinks he can play a bunch of one dimensional "defensive" guys to get stops to win that way.
You can't. You simply can't. Maybe in the mid 90s this works, but the way the rules are now, offense rules the day.

Luka's attitude is a problem. That's all I know.
I understand why he's upset, but his behavior is totally unacceptable.

I think we are really missing assistant coach Igor Kokoskov (now with Nets)
Kidd didn't give him enough credit at all. Luka did.

Honestly feel like we have only two choices.
1) Swing for the fences. Maybe win. Maybe lose. Make a KP-like move with all the rest of our assets. Really try to go big. If it fails, we not only move into obscurity, but we do do without half of our FRPs between now and 2030, but at least we tried. Might succeed, but honestly if Luka is having tantrums, no roster around him would perform at their peak.
2) Sell the farm. See what we can get for Luka, SD, Wood, Bullock, etc. Powell has value as an expiring/ballast. Build around Hardy and get some other FRPs to do so. If we do it soon, we could end up in the high lottery and 1-10, we keep our 2023 pick in a fairly deep draft. We wouldn't be the Pelicans and Thunder with tons of picks, but we could at least reset and try to get someone young that can play.
If we make small moves, Luka will continue to be a cancer on the team with his attitude. We will either underperform based on locker room chemistry, or Luka will demand a trade anyway and it will get uglier and his value will be reduced. We are literally in the worst position of any NBA team outside of the Lakers-- we're good enough to have a bad lottery pick but not good enough to be a threat in the playoffs and we are tapped out in both tax space and trade assets-- stuck in an awful purgatory between win-now and rebuilding-- with a doomsday clock ticking even if we were happy with being 7-9th seed for the next couple of years.

Luka just needs to start demanding moves from the FO. Very soon it will absolutely be a Luka vs Cuban internal war if it isn't already.
Luka needs to go find a superstar he wants to play with and do everything he can to make it happen.
The worst thing that can happen is for the FO to be like "well look at GS and the Hawks, they aren't good either" type of bs. That's exactly the type of Cuban crap you know he'll deflect to.

Maxi out indefinitely. Can't say I'm too upset since I don't think he fixes what ails this team long term, but it's still gonna be a long season.

Rough situation turned worse. I can feel the stove heating up...
The obvious happened where we got out rebounded and Mitchell got his. What sucked is that just proved that two guards can go off. Maxi would have helped of course but is now out two months.
If Green comes back and doesn't show any rust, I say fuck it and run small ball lineups. Seems Kidd had some positive comments on Wood's start to the 2nd half. That certainly was a smaller lineup with some success.

I don?t blame Luka for not giving high fives when he?s been carrying a franchise on his back from the moment he put on this jersey and the organization has given him zero support.

It?s absolutely absurd to me that people are blaming Luka?s attitude and suggesting we either trade him or swing for the fences. He is a top three player in the league, he gets to have an attitude. If anything the fact that he hasn?t utilized his leverage more is the reason Cuban has been treading water.
Option 3: sell everyone but Luka and shut him down for the season.

Shit that might be the route incoming with a "left calf sprain" or the like for Luka and retain top 10 pick...ain't farfetched

2 way players are always going to rule thr day IMO. We don't have that and haven't for a long time.
I agree we need more offense, but we are still going to lose games if guys can't play both ways....and dribble.

We pretty much already run small ball lineups. DP as our "Big" is a qualifier imo, however, he doesn't do small-ball big type stuff like shoot and pass well.
We have a very odd build atm.

I agree with those that do not find Luka to be the attitude problem. Being a winner and elite talent and losing like this is incredibly hard. You can reset with a cool head in-between games and say the right things but it starts right back up when your in the fire again and pretty much alone.
It's coach, it's Cuban, Nico the other players before it's Lukas attitude as far as this franchise faults and failures.

It's annoying but this a classic case of correlation vs. causation. Luka's behavior isn't leading to bad team results. Bad team results are leading to Luka's annoying behavior. Lets not conflate Mark's total fucking of this organization from a team building perspective over the last decade with Luka being a petulant pain in the ass as to what the real problem is.

The problem is, without Maxi we have no playable bigs that can play defense.
The reason why I was harping so much about not FULLY addressing our frontcourt situation at the beginning of the season.
Would have been nice to have at least one of the 17 on our roster other than a 34yo washed up McGee to be 7ft or over and have the ability to rebound and defend.
Agree, Maxi doesn't fix the LT problem, but his loss will hurt the ST imo.

Luka?s attitude is a problem. It?s a major problem. Why is it a problem? Because it shows that Luka is waking up to just how dysfunctional this team is and will probably want out. That is the problem. The Mavs need to fix the dysfunction. Unfortunately, they have done such a horrible job of bringing in talent that I?m not sure how possible it is.

Last night was another example of not mixing up correlation with causation. Luka bad body language is caused by the team including himself playing bad. The bad body language does not create the bad play. You see the positive correlation in a game like last night when they killed the Blazers and Luka couldn't have been in any better of a mood.
