In fairness to the other players luka was the guy who blew that last defensive possession and he was also the guy who made the decision to run the clock down and settle for the hero 3 point shot instead of just using the 7 seconds to attack the rim

This game should of been over in regulation if Luca knew how to defend an inbound pass and tried to draw a foul or take a mid range shot. That 30 foot 3 with the game tied is inexcusable. Hell, freaking Lou Dort looked more comfortable in a close game than Luca the last part of the 4th and in OT.

He has to attack the basket in that situation. No reason to settle for a step back 3 when you aren’t down. Welp back to the trade thread. They have to make a move.

Another thing I keep watching is Kidd playing some of these guys way too long. He’s running a damn skeleton crew out there with 5 guys playing 40+ minutes. I’m worried it’ll be an unspoken problem the latter part of the season, and guys get worn down.

Maxi and DFS can’t be effective playing 43 min in the game. It’s just not happening.

But fvck man, we are just an above average team who can go on some runs and win 4 or 5 games when healthy. Again for the 3rd time, I ask, WHO can we count on Down the stretch when the pressure ratchets up? Not a single person. Maybe Luka hits a long ass step back 3 but we don't have organized ball movement, it's helter skelter chaos

Lukas incessant whining is why he is in the position he is with the refs in the league. They all dislike him. They spend their time together off court mocking him, laughing , and generally dreading the game because he constantly complains. Obviously he does get fouled and they miss calls and it was worse tonight. Still, He's about to be hated as much as Cuban was.

B2b losses vs lowly teams where they looked bad at all aspects is tough. You mean to tell me we are set with this roster and are going to pay 35m (ish) for JB + DFS? Nico better be shopping.

I haven't posted in a year or more I think. Heck, I don't know when it was. I still think the league is crooked. I watched maybe 3 quarters, 2nd and into the 4th, of the game against Phoenix, and watched as the refs swallowed their whistles and started calling every little thing on the Mavericks. Shut it off when I saw it start happening.

To be fair, I don't know what the decision making is. I think it's probably gambling related. Or it's a WWE thing, but where trending teams make good stories. So a Phoenix becomes a good story.

Any way I look at it though, referees control games far too often. I hope the Mavs win, but until the league office determines it's their time, forget about it. BTW, I've seen the Mavs get preferential treatment.

I don't think I'll convince anyone, but what the hey. Now I'll disappear again. At least you gave me a place to vent. It's sad, because good FAIR basketball is beautiful to watch.

Luka Doncic has been a much improved defender since he came back from Covid protocols but the Thunder hunted him tonight. It is simply inexcusable to give up that easy of a shot in that situation. There are many other factors which contributed to the loss but solid defense on that possession likely results in a win.

The defense has been slipping the last few games which is concerning.

Again though, the same issue since the great FA failure of 2019 is not replacing guys who just can't be relied on. DFS and Kleber had a combined 13 points between them in 43 minutes of play. I don't expect them to put up prime Jordan offensive numbers, but they can seemingly have games where you're not sure they will score AT ALL. Like, how can anyone be that bad offensively? And if the defense is slipping, then it makes it even worse.

Bullock has absolutely outplayed Dorian in the last 4-5 games. You'd be f'in nuts to extend DFS this summer at this point.

That was a bad possession, and so was the final posession in reg...no denying that. However, right after Reggie hit the 3 to go up by 2 Luka immediately starts telling everyone "No 3s". So he was aware of the situation and we decided we weren't getting beat by 1 at the buzzer. He just has to execute better defense there. I was annoyed but not even really mad at it. Without Luka, we would have been obliterated that game. We really played so bad that we shouldn't have had a chance to go to OT. Hell we had plenty of time to win the game in reg but the offensive possession was turrrrble. Bad Luka to finish but without Luka we would have been run out of the building.

The poor fans that drove out there and back in the weather for that game. Sheesh
