Bad teammates. Dirk can be the best German ever, but if his teammates can't control what the ball do . . .
It might have been closer to pair by ability, rather than era.
Connery / West
Craig / Clooney
Dalton / Bale
Brosnan / Keaton
Moore / Kilmer

I was originally going to do it that way, but figured "ability" might be too subjective - it's up to everyone else to decide who has the skills to pay the bills...

Futbol - because in a Death Match you don't get to take a 30 second break after every 10 seconds of action.

that soccerball to the face picture is one of humanities crowning achievments. You can actually see the snot and cartiledge being expelled from the nostril...
but in general the futbal whine factor drives the vote to the squised ball variety. (although I love both)

I think the player is Vladimir Bestchastnyk, who made the deciding goal, leading Bremen to be the first geman team to appear in UEFA Champions League. He was traded to Santander --> Moskwa --> Fener and disappeared somewhere in the russian desert.
RIP - i pick Vlad anyway

Dammit. I wanted to vote in futbol v football. futbol = flopping.
But...give me the Grim. He can kill you anytime. Fathertime takes longer.

Chronos (because death is impossible without the passage of time - Thanatos can suck it!)
[for those of you who aren't EvilMav, that's a vote for Father Time...]

Eventually, when the universe collapses, Father Time and the Grim Reaper will both meet there demise. So I think Hawking and Jesus own them both.
But on the scale of mere mortals, Father Time can't keep the Grim Reaper away forever.
I vote GR

I am going to go with Hope. It looks to the future. Gives inspiration. Men do crazy things with hope and inspiration.
Change is pretty strong too. I just think of erosion...and...
Hope 1-0

hope 3-2...hope is always positive. Change can go either way...and is often terrible.

Pretty sure it says "Spurs/Suns/GSW 3-ball" - I don't know if you've been keeping score, but the Spurs might have won a Championship or three...
