Should we have Monta come off the bench?
Him and Rondo look awkward on the floor together. Would Monta accept being a bench player in the 6th man role? Would Carlisle even consider it?

Took only 3 games for someone to create such a thread, right on cue...
Why do people think that adding a new PG will work right away? It takes time, a lot of time... (Seems like talking to a wall at times here).

Let's bench Parsons and Dirk as well since they don't seem to be "fitting in" to what Rondo is doing.

Dirk-Rondo works fine. He is the only guard who passes the ball to Dirk when he is open.

Actually you make a good point about Parsons. Parsons needs the ball in his hands as well to make an impact.

Who would start in his place? Harris? I actually agree with you, too many guys needing the ball in our starting lineup, but i think we need a few more games to see how that will work. Was actually thinking of benching Parsons and starting Aminu. Not saying it solves any problem... But it looks reasonable.

Of course not. First off, three games. Second, who's the obviously better fit in the starting lineup? Devin? Love him, but not seeing it. Third, bench Monta and you're just asking for locker room headaches and a free agency nightmare when he opts out next summer.
The Mavs have a clear cut, mostly in-their-prime starting five for the first time in a long time, and a very real chance at being able to keep them together for multiple seasons. If changes need to be made they can make them over the summer. Until then, give the coaching staff time to figure out what works and doesn't work with the reshaped roster, give the best players time to figure out how to play effectively off one another, and give the front office time to address the need at backup C.

If we find a way to get Parsons minutes mainly without Rondo (without benching either) I think it can slowly come together.
Our biggest problem is inside presence/intensity on defense. Tyson cant do it all, and I hate were wasting his play. He is killing it this year.

Aminu can't shoot. He's not the answer, either.
Look, the Rondo/Monta/Parsons/Dirk/TC starting lineup is not a textbook starting lineup, but it has a wealth of passing and playmaking ability, plenty of quick-strike scoring options, and the bball IQ, both individually and collectively, is fantastic. Those are their strengths and their path to success, and fast decision-making and quick ball-movement are the keys to unlocking it. It's just that right now, with Dirk in a slump, Rondo new to the team and the system, Monta, Parsons and the bench dislodged from the comfort zones they'd established in training camp and over the early part of the season, former fringe players being elevated into the rotation, and defenses throwing looks at them that they're not used to seeing or attacking, everyone's out their thinking every step instead of reacting, and that's making the weaknesses (in particular the lack of pure shooters and a backup C), stand out more than they otherwise would.

Agree that moving someone to the bench this season is not the answer.
Also, Aminu's about done playing at all, imo. He's certainly not moving into the starting lineup.

i'd consider monta coming off the bench but at some point they are gonna have to work together cuz they are both gonna play around 33-35 mins each. i just didnt like the trade for rondo because rondo isnt a guy that u bring into an offense. rondo is a guy that u build an offense around with. idk if that makes sense...?

After last night´s performances of Rondo and Parsons I think RC should think about bringing Monta off the bench. Yesterday really showed how important he is as a closer and as someone, who can create his own shot. But Parsons and Rondo paired with another shooter (let it even be Felton) seemed to have great chemistry. Monta could do what Harris is supposed to bring to the table. Devin clearly isn´t able to generate offense for the second unit, but could serve well alongside Monta as a shooter.

Too bad Ellis will leave if that idea becomes reality. Ellis has to start no matter what if you want to resign him.

But who would be main candidates to offer him over 10 mil per year? Right now it looks like Knicks are the only ones who could be desperate enough to make that kind of an offer but I'm not sure how he'd fit in triangle.
This could be an interesting offseason where Lakers are bidding for Rondo and Knicks for Ellis.
But would Ellis want to play again for a team that is unlikely to make it to the playoffs? With Melo and Ellis in same team you'd still have more problems than fixes, even in east.

I mean, he´s a professional and he gets paid a lot of money. Can´t you expect a player to do, what is best for the team? If Monta´s actually not willing to come off the bench just because of his ego, I wouldn´t resign him next summer. No need for those kind of players - you don´t win with them anyway.
But I´m not sure, if he were really pissed. Maybe he could be fine with it.
