man, i sure hope these teams are complete come game time. i'd hate to see griffin/taylor, or bush/leinhart ineligible. ML had his reinstatement yesterday, but the point is, let the game be played as it should be. so what if bush gets an agent....i'd be scouting for one too if i were him. but if he doesn't sign before january 4th, i don't care what he does. if anything it's taking his focus off the game, and as a longhorn, that doesn't bother me one bit. regardless, i'll be 20 yard line of the stadium come january 4th screaming my lungs off! should be a great game!

USC has a chance to be a dynasty in college sports 35 straight games and three straight national championships. If it comes down to gambling for a 4th and 1 I am taking USC. Mack Brown hasn't had to make any close calls. USC went for it on 4th and 1 for the ball game against Notre Damn. Two Heisman trophy winners and the best coach in college football equals a third straight national championship. USC 30- UT 20.

The best player in the country and an actual defense to go with the best offense in college football history gives this one to UT whether the national media thinks USC would beat the jedi council or not. Yes UT has a better offense.

So far I've actually been impressed by the Big12's performances. I am shocked that Bama managed to score enough to beat Tech. I just knew that Tech would win that game, given Bama's inability to score.
Now I'd like to hear any debate as to if Texas has a better defense than Alabama.

Why? Texas went into the Tech game knowing that Tech couldn't march up and down the field on them and score touchdowns. So, Texas laid back and forced Tech to complete pass after pass and methodically march down the field. Tech couldn't do it. Eventually, they made their mistakes. Texas didn't attack Tech in the same manner in which Alabama did because Texas knew that Tech had no chance of containing their dominant offense. It's comparing apples to oranges. Alabama had to attack Tech more because of Alabama's offensive limitations.
Plus, Alabama controlled the clock versus Tech. Tech had 99 offensive plays against Texas in large part because Texas was scoring and giving the ball back to Tech quicker. It's difficult to draw a conclusion such as the one you're drawing when there's drastic differences that impact the manner in which the two teams attacked defensively in the particular game.

Umm ut held Tech to 17 points with their backups playing the entire 4th quarter. Yeah they gave up alot of yards but few points. That said, my hats off to bama. That D played one hell of a football game. No need to attempt to diminish it by arguing for UT being better. For right now Bama has done better but if UT comes out and does Dominate USC's O(I dont see it happening but thats what their players have said) then I would say that far surpasses dominating a vastly overrated tech offense. Tech was good because of their D this year. If they had the O of two years ago they finish ranked in the top 5. Too bad. Must close by again saying man, what a game by bama. Sec is now ahead of big 12 in impressiveness so far i would say. Mainly due to the LSU thumping of miami but looking at it, it is very very possible that the SEC ends with 4 teams ranked in the top 10 to end the year. For all that I have argued against this year, there is no arguing that that would be just an amazing achievement.

I don't think the SEC has had a good bowl season at all. LSU and Bama..sure, great wins...but I think we'll all agree that Tech isn't really a GREAT win. LSU over Miami was incredible...BUT -
Auburn getting embarassed by Wisconsin and South Carolina letting Missouri make that comeback is just pathetic.
Right now the teams I've been most impressed with are OU and LSU.

Tech's a nice team but nothing more. They really would have been exposed if they had played a tougher schedule...

I think the top teams of the SEC are overrated ie auburn and georgia...
as a whole, they are probably the best conference in the nation...
the big 12 isn't better because there is only one top team.

It's better to have one top team than none. The SEC doesn't have anyone remotely comparable to UT. I suppose it's nice to have more depth, but what good is depth when even the best teams aren't comparable to the elite in college football?

Well, my point is that if you don't have a team remotely capable of competing with the top teams in the country, you're not the best conference.

No one said that they sucked. But, I don't think that many would argue that they're in USC or UT's class.

Murph,
So by your reasoning the big12 and the pac10, as a whole, are better than the SEC? Does it not stand to reason that playing 8 games against SEC foes MIGHT pose a better chance for upset than 8 games against the pac10/big12?
And no, I don't think LSU would be favored over either of those teams...but that's not to say that it'd be impossible for them to beat either. Both USC and UT had bad games this year. LSU is not A&M/Ok ST. If UT has a slip up against someone like LSU...their season is over. That's why, in the SEC, going undefeated is so impressive. You can't take AS MANY weeks off. Sure, there are bad teams that you don't have to worry too much about, but not as many.

I don't think that I ever said that the Big 12 was better than the SEC.. The SEC is definitely deeper and better this year..but, I was saying that it's much more important in my opinion to have a team such as UT than it is to have depth throughout with no elite teams... It's just my opinion.
And of course it'd be more difficult to make it through the SEC this season. The Big 12 was mediocre at best. Tech has been on a downhill slide the second half of the season. Oklahoma is just now finding their legs. The Big 12 north is amazing me right now..I never would have thought that they'd win a bowl game with that mess...

Hey the Mavs played the texas fight song at the arena tonight. Pretty cool, lots of UT fans and Humble Billy was shouting out good luck.
Hook 'em baby.

For the many Longhorn players that regularly check d-m.com for motivational material:
An ESPN writer:
Quote:
If I'm a Longhorns linebacker, I'd rather cry on "Oprah," marry an Aggie or wet my pants than try to tackle Bush in the open field.

SWEATERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
edit: You know, Austin is home to many Beautiful women..... However they rarely translate into being a cheerleader. I think they get them from Louisiana or something. Add to that.... the UT Cheerleader outfit is very blah. Maybe that has more to do with it.... especially when compared to the USC Sweaters of the "Song Leaders".

I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOO ready for this game. Time to be a genius or an idiot. BTW one thing scared me thinking about this last night. What really gives UT problems in the past? A great pocket passer. The trojans have arguably the best pocket passer in cfb history. I am not wavering in my UT fandom and I think they will win but I am gonna go on record as saying that Leinart is much more of a threat to them than bush is.

I actually think the UT cheerleaders are prettier...but the USC cheerleaders have got a WAY better uniform.
