Salute Your All-Star
If it hadn't happened we would have to blow up the NBA, right?
Dirk Nowitzki has been named to the Western Conference's All-Star team for the eighth straight time, the NBA announced Thursday.
The Feb. 15 game will mark the forward's eighth straight appearance, more than any other playing in Mavericks' history.
Nowitzki said in statement that being named to the team is "always an honor."
“It is always exciting," he said. "It is an unbelievable experience, and I am thankful for the opportunity to represent the Dallas Mavericks in Phoenix.”
Nowitzki is averaging team highs of 25.7 points and 8.4 rebounds. On. Jan. 17, he became the 55th player in NBA history to score 18,000 points.

It's no slight to him. They can only pick a few guards, and all the guys that made it have been just as good.
Terry is still the heavy favorite for 6th Man, and hopefully he'll win that.

If they campaign this right next year, Dirk can be a starter...I don't have any doubt about that. If this is supposed to be "the nba all-star experience of ever" then they'll push just as hard to get people to vote Dirk in as a starter.

Dirk being in the all star game is an old hat now. Even so, congrats to the big German.
And yes, Dirk will never start the All-Star game. When Bruce Bowen somehow receives more votes than him, then voting is simply futile. Fans are just dumb.
We need to come out in full force next year though.

Congratulations to Dirk Nowitzki again for making another trip to the All-Star team. He well deserves it. Dirk started the All-Star that one year where Yao Ming was injured. So the potential for Dirk to start is there if Yao or Duncan gets injured before All-Star break. Maybe if we put some Chinese dubbed videos/highlight videos of Dirk Nowitzki on the internet it will get more Chinese people to vote for him.

I don't know. I have a feeling that if we ever traded Kidd to an Eastern Conference team like the Magic or the Cavs then we'd probably see him in the All Star game again.

You know, it's funny, they call the Cowboys "America's Team". Well, the Mavs are like "America's Anti-team".

Congrats Dirk! You're more deserving than a few starters, as always.
And as much as I like to see you play, and play well... I hope you get a DNP-CD. You deserve a break more than anything.

I wouldn't wonder if it's not only because some are thinking Dirk is a choker due to the 2006 Finals but as well due to the fact he's playing for Dallas. Just to hinder their best man to play in the Allstar-Game. But luckily the coaches have the rights to choose the reserves. Bowen, Artest, Anthony - none of them was chosen to play (okay, the latter one probably due to his injury?) despite their high amount of votes (which were rigged, that's for sure).
