Incredibly poorly reported by Stein. He got the minimum of 1.139 mill, not 8. Dude has 2 mill make-good bonus if he makes the allstar team, and several other ridiculous clauses. He was a vet min with very good (but ridiculously unlikely options)

The Lakers did give Luol Deng $72 million. $8 million for Yi seemed believable haha.

I'm pretty sure he still counts as $8M against the cap (and as a trade chip) with those incentives, FWIW.

If it's pot, then who cares? Seriously, it should've been legal 30 years ago and tons of NBA players get away with doing it. Sure, he is dumb for risking his career and money on it, but when is this country going to wake up and just legalize it.

Another all time great retires. Definitely the turning of a page in the NBA with these all time great players retiring (Kobe, Duncan) and others right behind them (Dirk). Was never a huge KG fan, but he played a big part in the way things are in the NBA today.

Yep, Pat Riley confirms that Bosh won't play this season and likely ever again for the Heat.

Funny how players that spurn the Mavs get cursed. Williams staying with the lowly Nets. Howard choosing the Rockets and is now a Hawk. Deandre Jordan and his championship caliber Clippers losing in the first round last season. Whiteside gets to play with the ghosts of Wade, Bosh, and Lebron.

Whiteside got burned the most in my opinion. I'm not too mad about missing out on him though, not sure he won't end up Michael Beasley. Not sad about missing out on Deron, Mavs were lucky there.

With Kobe, Duncan, and Garnett all retired now, does that make Dirk the longest tenured player in the NBA? I can't think of anyone else who's been around since 1998 or earlier.

VC and Paul Pierce are both in Dirk's class. If Andre Miller is still around he was drafted in 99 so 1 less year of tenure but is older than all of them.

Morey treats his players like pawns in his little game...nothing more. The way the Rockets treat their players versus the Mavs are oceans apart. That was evident with the way they treated Howard.

Moreyball is all about what's on paper, a straight-up fantasy basketball mindset that treats human beings as commodities... They've had almost as much turnover as we have in the past few years, but most of ours has been due to "win now" 1-year contracts given to reclamation projects and veterans (hired guns with an opportunity to stick), whereas Houston keeps trading away good players for guys who don't move the needle. Morey doesn't seem to realize that sometimes the best trade is the one you don't make -- it's hard to convince a free agent like Motiejunas to stick around when there's no loyalty... He'll probably just get traded anyway!

But losing him to EuroLeague? Lol.

"I really do want to use him, because there's not many guys in the league at that size that have that skill set, and there's no reason why I should put a cap on his abilities because his name isn't LeBron James. I just see the same skill set. He's not a high flyer like LeBron obviously, but he can pass it, he can shoot the 3, he's huge, he can post guys and he moves great without the basketball, so I can move him around in a lot of different spots. I do not want to put a ceiling on him. I want to see how far we can go with him and put him in a role that is positionless. … I think all it takes is a coach showing that he has the confidence in a guy to do it and develop him according to the system and then it can take place.

While I do think he has a skillset we didn't necessarily use fully.... none of that included some imaginary lebron post game. He can shoot and he can do some things with the ball in his hands in the pnr but cant beat his defender off the dribble and his only move to create anything at all is a pumpfake... Also maybe I'm reading it out of the context he ment it to be used in, but it almost looks to me like a shot at RC for not having confidence in him or developing his "lebron james" like skills.... Now that that's out of the way...

He did the same with Ellis early last season too, but nobody really cared so he eventually stopped.

Someone obviously likes to breathe hot air out of their mouth because those words made no sense. Like RC did not try to develop Parsons' game...

I do wonder what they mean by positionless though. Is Parsons going to come off bench with that salary to play 3 and 4? It may very well be that Parsons is too big for his skillset - good passing skills but not quick enough to lose defenders. Tall enough to play in the post but not physical enough to beat defenders.

What it does sound though, is that Memphis looks to change their usual style we've grown to know. We may see Parsons more as 4 but he has to get healthy first. I wonder if he ever plays against Mavs with the knees he has... Enough about Parsons! I want some Mavs basketball!!!

Pretty sure I saw the other day that ZBo is going to come off the bench for the Grizz. Not sure where Parsons plans on playing whenever he gets back on the floor.
