@NickVanExit: Devin Booker says he has two pairs of signed shoes that he'll display in his new house: Kobe Bryant and Dirk Nowitzki.

How can someone be so grounded? He's like your buddy next door.

Will miss him once he's played his last game.

I think he's mostly joking with his injuries and declining health, but I love his humor as much as I love his loyalty.

Now text Noel and tell him his agent is crazy and his stats will be YUGE playing with Smith.

Yeah Durant...if you really wanna know what is the "hardest route" to a title, just remember Dirk...

Quote:
The former took pay cuts that allowed the Spurs to build championship contenders year after year. Nowitzki, on the other hand, took pay cuts that did not have much effect as the Mavs were never able to capitalize.
I think Dirks 2010er paycut lead to the Mavs gamble on Tyson with the dustchip

It seems that Dirk is an underdog this year among power forwards, at least according to Mika Honkasalo on HoopsHype. He's ranked 22nd overall. Harrison Barnes is 12th among small forwards. Wesley Matthews is 20th among shooting guards. Dennis Smith Jr. is 22nd among point guards. It seems like centers will be evaluated last.

Dirk Nowitzki joined The Jim Rome Podcast and talked about his future in the NBA

http://jimrome.com/2017/09/19/dirk-n...re-in-the-nba/

Quote:
“In my head, I’m thinking yeah, I’d love to fulfill this deal, I’d love to play two more years,” Nowitzki said. “But last year, for the first time, I had some weird stuff, I had some Achilles problems, I missed almost the first two months of the season which was really, really frustrating. It was hard to kind of work my way back mid-season to sort of game shape. It was a tough time for me, so if that happens again, and I missed 30-40 games, it really doesn’t make any sense."

“I want to be out there, I don’t want to be frustrated with something and battling back from injury all the time, but if the year goes well, and the body holds good, then why not try another? So we kind of have to see and wait and listen to my body and then we can make that decision next summer.”

Rome sucked in the beginning, but he has been better over time. He is the godfather of sports analysts compared to the likes of Jemele Hill.

Unfortunately, the odds are against Dirk staying healthy at his age. It'll all depend on the injuries he sustains, but I'd count on him missing 15-20 games.

Does that include scheduled days off, or do you think he will miss 15-20 plus scheduled games off (i.e back to back games)?

For one thing.... very strange for you to single out Jemele Hill of all people. I wonder why that is? And for the record, Jemele is a god damn NBA encyclopedia compared to Rome. Him analyzing basketball is amateur hour.

I agree with the overall sentiment that Dirk is likely to play something like 65-ish games this season though. I'd say some of that will be rest but it remains to be seen how much.

When Dirk hit 30k Jemele Hill said a "case could be made" or that she "wouldn't argue" with him being the 8th to 12th best pf of all time.

She's an idiot.

Very strange how? She has been a terrible "analyst" for years. Oh, I'm sorry, did I offend the you because of what she said about Trump? Even though if you've read a single thing in the political section you know I can't stand him? ESPN has been garbage for some time, and she is terrible.

Can we keep the political garbage in the Political Arena garbage can? I don't want to hear your opinions in General Mavs Discussion just as much as you don't want to hear mine.

Seconded. Mavs are my feel good hobby. Politics are the polar opposite.
