Default T-mac and Shaq want to play together in Dallas?. This is how it gets done (trade proposal)

Below is the proposed trade along with information on why each team would be willing to pull the trigger. Thoughts??

Dallas trades: SF Josh Howard (8.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 23.7 minutes)
SF Eduardo Najera (3.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 12.4 minutes)
PF Dirk Nowitzki (21.8 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 2.7 apg in 37.9 minutes)
SF Antawn Jamison (14.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 0.9 apg in 29.0 minutes)
PF Antoine Walker (14.0 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 4.5 apg in 34.6 minutes)
Dallas receives: PF Drew Gooden (11.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 27.0 minutes)
SG Tracy McGrady (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes)
C Shaquille O'Neal (21.5 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 2.9 apg in 36.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -1.1 ppg, -7.5 rpg, and -0.5 apg.

Orlando trades: PF Drew Gooden (11.6 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.1 apg in 27.0 minutes)
SG Tracy McGrady (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes)
Orlando receives: SF Eduardo Najera (3.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 58 games)
PF Dirk Nowitzki (21.8 ppg, 8.7 rpg, 2.7 apg in 77 games)
Change in team outlook: -14.8 ppg, -1.1 rpg, and -3.5 apg.

L.A. Lakers trades: C Shaquille O'Neal (21.5 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 2.9 apg in 36.8 minutes)
L.A. Lakers receives: SF Josh Howard (8.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 67 games)
SF Antawn Jamison (14.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 0.9 apg in 82 games)
PF Antoine Walker (14.0 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 4.5 apg in 82 games)
Change in team outlook: +15.9 ppg, +8.6 rpg, and +4.0 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

NOTE: Dallas would send its 1st rounder in 2006 to LA and possibly this year’s second rounder; Orlando would also send a future pick to LA.

Why Dallas does it: I know it would be tough to part with Dirk but when you trade for a 25-year-old superstar you pretty much have to give up one in the process. If we could convince Orlando to ship Gooden over as well however, we would have a good replacement at the PF spot, giving us a lineup of something like this:

C: Shaq/Bradley/ Ostertag?
P/F:Gooden/Fortson
S/F:Finley/FA?
S/G:Tmac/Daniels
P/G:Nash/Daniels/Steffanson

That has championship written all over it my friends. We will surely have a place in history by the time this group of players has finished.

Why the Lakers do it: As we all know by now, Shaq has demanded to be traded and this may be the best offer available considering that it gives them talent to instantly compete while also providing assurance for future success by receiving future draft picks from both Dallas and Orlando.

Why the Magic do it: Dirk is more valuable than T-mac in the East because of his size and with the Magic soon to pick Okafor, Orlando will be instant competitors. In a couple of years a combination of Dirk and Okafor could RULE the eastern conference.

I thought about getting Gooden, but it seemed to pale to Dirk. Why don't we keep Howard and send LA Gooden. I'd rather run with Fortson at the 4 and keep Howard. The other problem is that if T-MAC and Fin are here. I don't think Danials signs with us. Its looks shaky we will be able to keep him anyway. Swap Juwan and TAW maybe to get your 4.

I still don't like it. If we just get Shaq, we are a better team than if we get T-Mac. Dirk offsets Duncan and Garnett and any lesser 4 will leave us vunerable. Nash/Danials/Fin/Dirk/Shaq is the better team over Nash/T-Mac/Josh Howard/Juwan Howard/Shaq.

Right now LA needs a young and athletic 3 that can play shutdown defense but not be a cancer on offense. That is Josh Howard in a nutshell. Also, the lakers seem to be pretty fond of their rookie Brian Cook at the 4..meaning they dont really have a need for Gooden unless they would want to go big and stick him at the three where I still believe JHo would be much better.

As would I although I dont feel that would be enticing enough for LA

T-Mac and Daniels are very good friends...I think Daniels would stay to play with him.

Orlando will never do that

I agree however, both Shaq and T-Mac want to play with each other in Dallas and if we were to make that happen then we would have to trade Dirk which would give us the lineup I provided in my initial post.

Default RE: T-mac and Shaq want to play together in Dallas?. This is how it gets done (trade proposal)

What would motivate Nash to re-sign with Dallas if both of those deals happen?

Maybe we could do this:

Dallas trades: SF Josh Howard (8.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 23.7 minutes)
PG Tony Delk (6.0 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 15.4 minutes)
SF Eduardo Najera (3.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 12.4 minutes)
SF Tariq Abdul-Wahad (3.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 12.4 minutes)
SG Michael Finley (18.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.9 apg in 38.6 minutes)
Dallas receives: SG Tracy McGrady (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes)
SG Grant Hill (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -8.2 ppg, -8.5 rpg, and -0.2 apg.

Orlando trades: SG Tracy McGrady (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes)
SG Grant Hill (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes)
Orlando receives: SF Josh Howard (8.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 67 games)
PG Tony Delk (6.0 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 33 games)
SF Eduardo Najera (3.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 58 games)
SF Tariq Abdul-Wahad (3.0 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.4 apg in 58 games)
SG Michael Finley (18.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.9 apg in 72 games)
Change in team outlook: +8.2 ppg, +8.5 rpg, and +0.2 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

or you could replace Wahad with some draft picks and cash. This way, Orlando would be more likely to do it since Dallas takes Hill's Contract.

Then, you could trade Jamison/Walker/Cash for Shaq.

Lineup

Nash/re-sign Best
Daniels
McGrady
Dirk/Fortson
Shaq/Bradley

Nash13, I dont see Orlando making that deal. They take back Finleys nasty contract and old age which would kill their plans of building for the future, they get overloaded with s/f's, they are tied down financially with TAWs contract, and dont receive a player that can keep them competing in the East.

With my proposed trade they create a promising potential frontline in Dirk and Okafor (perfect blend of defense and offense..especially in the east) and receive another player in Najera who will play aggressively and do the dirty work for the team. This is the only deal I would do with Orlando that seems feasible and fair to both teams..anything else and either they are asking too much or we are. For me its either do this deal or forget Orlando and package Jho, Walker, Jamison and the 2006 1st rounder to LA for Shaq

Default RE:T-mac and Shaq want to play together in Dallas?. This is how it gets done (trade proposal)

I like this trade idea better:

Dallas trades: SG Michael Finley (18.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.9 apg in 38.6 minutes)
PF Antoine Walker (14.0 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 4.5 apg in 34.6 minutes)
SF Josh Howard (8.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 23.7 minutes)
PG Tony Delk (6.0 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 15.4 minutes)
SF Antawn Jamison (14.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 0.9 apg in 29.0 minutes)
Dallas receives: SG Tracy McGrady (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes)
C Shaquille O'Neal (21.5 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 2.9 apg in 36.8 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -12.5 ppg, -8.9 rpg, and -2.3 apg.

Orlando trades: SG Tracy McGrady (28.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 5.5 apg in 39.9 minutes)
Orlando receives: SG Michael Finley (18.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 2.9 apg in 72 games)
SF Josh Howard (8.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.5 apg in 67 games)
Change in team outlook: -0.8 ppg, +4.0 rpg, and -1.1 apg.

L.A. Lakers trades: C Shaquille O'Neal (21.5 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 2.9 apg in 36.8 minutes)
L.A. Lakers receives: PF Antoine Walker (14.0 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 4.5 apg in 82 games)
PG Tony Delk (6.0 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 0.9 apg in 33 games)
SF Glenn Robinson (16.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.4 apg in 42 games)
Change in team outlook: +15.1 ppg, +3.1 rpg, and +3.9 apg.

Philadelphia trades: SF Glenn Robinson (16.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.4 apg in 31.9 minutes)
Philadelphia receives: SF Antawn Jamison (14.8 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 0.9 apg in 82 games)
Change in team outlook: -1.8 ppg, +1.8 rpg, and -0.5 apg.

TRADE ACCEPTED

Throw in next years 1st to Orlando, and 3M, and this years 2nd to LA

This makes the Dallas lineup, if they can resign Nash, and Daniels.

Shaq, Nowitzki, Daniels, TMac, Nash

backups: Bradley, Fortson, Najera, FA, Stefansson.
Sign Avery Johnson (vet Min), sign Malone with the LLE or left from MLE (Daniels -whichever is greater), sign a SG or use TAW.

So they could play pick and roll on one side with Nash/Nowitzki, and run basically the triangle on the other side with Shaq on the pivot. Unstoppable offense.

Defense just got much better with the big Diesel in the paint.

Would Orlando make that trade? ? Get a guy to build around, Josh Howard, a vet ex-all star type in Finley, 3 mil, next years 1st round pick, keep the #1 and take Okafor, for a guy that has told you he is leaving. If he tells Indy or any other team that he will opt out and they are buying him for only one year because he wants to play in Dallas, what options do you think they have? ??

Would LA make that trade? If the Big Diesel says I am going to opt out, and Dallas is the only team I will sign an extension with, then mabye they do it.

Would Philly do it? I would think so.

Would Dallas do it...........they would hate to break up the big 3, but I think it would happen.

Dalmations, on your trade proposal I feel Orlando would mildly consider it but in the end be deterred away due to the size of Finley's contract, I dont think LA would have anything to do with it (they could get a lot more than that from Portland), and ofcourse both Dallas and Philly say yes.

If TMac refused to sign an extension with any other team, what choice do they have? Offers get lowered greatly if TMac refuses, and they know that it is only a one year deal. Then they get no compensation for him when he opts out. TMac and Shaq really have most of the power. They might have to wait a year, but if teams don't want to lose, and want compensated, then it will happen.

I'm hoping these two players use their leverage to get here without the Mavs giving up too much. Both can opt out and scare off suitors...

I think that ANY trade proposal that suggest trading Dirk for anybody should be automatically zapped with a phasar.

It would be absolutely nuts to trade an excellent young star, with an unlimited amount of potential, and alot of years left in him, for a aging (although great) center. Or a whining young scorer that has already wanted out of 2 locations in his short career. Shaq and Tmac, respectivelly.

I like the mavs because of Dirk. I have loved watching him grow up. He is still growing. Shaq is going nowhere but downhill. Tmac is an all consuming, arrogant star. It would make me sick to watch that here in Dallas without Dirk.

Come on people. If you want Shaq or Tmac, do it without Dirk. Cuban knows it would be stupid to trade him. If you want to trade Dirk, get something like Duncan, or Garnett back.

Right on Freak, Dirk should not be traded. He is the Maverick franchise. And I think he will stay the franchise, as Cuban has stated in email that he will NOT trade him.

Also, I am reconsidering how much power Shaq and TMac have. The mighty dollar is the most powerful. Sure these guys could tell potential suitors that they will opt out of their contract after next year unless they play together for Dallas, but who would believe them? Especially Shaq. If they opt out, then they become free agents right? No bird rights except with the team that traded for them. They would have to take a HUGE pay cuts to play with any contender, as they are usually at or above the cap. Why would they do that?
